Well with a forum we don't harres them. They must come for them self to read our opinions. Might be that the bulk of Frontier personel even won't come here.
But just work along on whatever game is currently in the pipeline. Except a community manager wich job is to fetch feedback.
Wich what it is a clear opinion on there choices. To put Elite IP in the Freezer.

Ugh - the whinging is starting to get tired - actually, not getting tired - IS tired.
It's boring and it's also irritating that you're feeling the need to spam various threads with the same cack. Elite 4 was said to be in development many years ago and has since been put on the back burner. It has been clearly stated that The Outsider is of primary concern for Frontiers Dev team and that Elite 4 is next on the books.
The Outsider appears to have a few years left on it's development diary so Elite 4 won't be making a appearance (in some form) till somewhere around 2015 - no amount of complaining and keyboard warrior stomping of feet is going to change that. Deal with it.
If there was such a huge overwhelming desire for Elite 4 to grace the gaming world then do you not think that there would be more than 8-10 die-hard regulars posting here? We come here and possibly vent a little, if in a VERY 'tongue in cheek' manner, retain the respect for the people that one day may produce the game we're after and in other wise just hang out with some relatively like minded people.
Once in a while someone comes charging bull headed in here and thrashes around for a bit suggesting (from their bedroom where they live with their mum) that Frontier are out of touch with the gaming world and that they, wielding their keyboard shaped 'sword of truth', have a vastly better understanding of the gaming world and that David and his team should solely be putting their effort into what you want. Far be it for me to have a differing opinion - but I also have a realistic view on how a business is run and how big a proposition Elite 4 really is. We aren't asking for something that is on the scale of Frontier - we're asking for a major production, and major productions take money, a serious amount of money.
Frontier are also in the unenviable position of having injected a large amount of time and effort (not to mention cash) into The Outsider. Are you suggesting that they write all of that off and shelve it? Isn't it nice to be able to sit on the other side of your screen and flippantly suggest these things.

He must be joking. Elite was the biggest game ever in history and is almost certainly the most eagerly anticipated game of the future. Certainly it is the only game I ever played for longer than a year, in fact I was smitten with it for years of my life. I am sure that Frontier know all too well that if they ever said they were actually working on Elite 4 the games market would go mad with questions and great expectations would result. A solid release of Elite 4 could blow away any competition and reinvigerate the dead space sim genre almost overnight. Its a lot to have on your shoulders so I can understand Brabens reluctance to discuss and plans in detail.
Just because no-one is making space sims doesnt mean there is not a massive interest in the genre. developers arent doing them becuase they are too difficult and risky compared to FPS, RPG and RTS games. But there was once a tme when space sims were the only game to really own a PC for and I for one wish that time would returna bnd I am sure there are millions of closet space sim fans around who are thinking the same.
As far as I am concerned I havent bought any Frontier products to date they havent been my cup of tea at all. I am only interested in Elite 4. I attend this site a few times a year to see whats going on and go away disappointed. One of these days....

Just like every customer I have a opinion on desisions software firms make. So I just let the firm know how I think about it. That all. It's just straight up feedback.
What the firm does with it is there call. There bussness desision are theres to make. But we as custumers have a opinion on that. Like Bill gates MS or DB Frontier. whatever they do. We costumers have a opinion on it. Or like any other kind of software maker does. If we don't like it we let it know. Or bring our cash else where like egosoft or apple etc.
It's bussness and bussnes is hard but as a consumer we go for our interrest in product.
That some game dev's have a popularity or fame like pop stars. That not my problem. And if fans of idolised firms can't take the critic that there problem.
It is still is just bussness like any software enginering firm.
That people put DB (Frontier) JC ( IDsoft ) CB ( Epic ) on pedestral godlike status. admire them like idols. Not me.
So to me it as a costumer vs busness thing. Noting more nothing less.
If your oke that your idol does not do its thing for you and are allrightythen about it. that fine by me. Give them a huge thumbs up for starving you from your fave game. Make no sense to me.
And if people say in many way that's it is so oke to abandon Elite for so many years then I react on it. As that comes up many time to.
It make sense to that gamers who prefere those other games frontier could and would say "good choice to drop Elite" ( because that not there thing ) but those othere games are. So they give thumbs up for Frontier. That make sense.
But a Elite fan say oh it's oke choice make no sense to me.
I like to see Space games. And I would like it if they did persue a steady line of sequels. Well they did not. Wich I don't like. And I say it.
Why and how Frontier bussness desision are made are not my cup of tea. But because they are sucsesfull and still around they do well for bussness.
It just I miss the space games.
I don't demand anything, just a opinion.

Elite stand out in pre game history. But it was a pre game history crowd.
You got now milions of kids gaming on console who doesn't know anything about elite but all hot current FPS games. This market is 40mil units minimum big per console firm.
Then you have Elite sales of 500K compared to today front runners like MW2 and COD:BO. Wich sells multi milion copies. That fine but this crowd isn't sim and pure realism oriented.
Because, Consoles and PC are common tech and gaming tents to be more accepted today as not nerdy like it was inthe old day's.
And I am also only interrested in one IP of game studio Frontier and that's Elite.
So this is just my opinion.

but as Steve O B Have said above, no amount of us moaning is going to get it made any faster.
So what do I do while I am waiting? I play X3TC or Sims 3 or I'll play Gran Turismo 5 or Final Fantasy whatever number they're on, etc etc.
I'll keep breathing, eating, sleeping and watching. All in the hope that one day my patience will be rewarded.
I could moan, but I'll wait instead.

You know by now it's a waste of time trying to talk to those that are angry about the lack of Elite IV. They will learn in time (as I have) that waiting for a new Elite game is not about business decisions, not waiting for the technology to be right, not waiting for the right alignment of planets or even for a significant date. Basically it's went way, way beyond that now. Really (for an Elite fan) it's all about faith. For those who feel that they don't have faith, I would humbly suggest that there is loads of other games out there for them to enjoy and I hope they are satisfied with those alternatives.
Speaking only for myself, the alternatives were not satisfying enough, so the only course for me is the long wait. Oolite, Pioneer and FFE variants have helped alot though in these (hopefully) later years of the wait. Just think for a moment what the wait would be like without them! :S
My final thought for this post is this, my greatest hope is that one day I will log on to this forum to find a PM from Callum (or even....David himself) offering participation in a "very closed" beta session for Elite IV. No chance do you think? We will see and in any case, only the faithful need apply...................

I'm getting very jaded by computer gaming these days. Havent bought a game for ages that Ive played a great deal - last ones was probably Hearts of Iron 2, Call of Duty and lately Batman. I similarly played the original Duke Nukem and yeah it was ok but nothing to write home about - certainly not a patch on Call Of Duty.
I dont know whether I would play Elite 4 if it was to come out I really dont. I dont have loads of time on my hands anymore or quite the suspension of disbelief I used to have to get completely immersed in games, as I did when Frontier and FFE were out and I was in my late twenties/early thirties with no obligations.
And I am getting to the point where every game I look at now is some kind of rehash of which I have played a previous version before. We have no space sims and no flight sims worth mentioning both of which are my favourite types of game. So I dont know for certain how I would feel if Frontier ever did come out. And it would have to be pretty special for me to play it. But I am still intrigued by the possibilities..but I dont hold out much hope for it ever becoming a reality after all this time. If it was going to be done it would have been done already
I don't post on here very often and I would love to see Elite 4 made, but I've always had this feeling the David Braben wants to be far to clever and ambitious with it. I don't know about anyone else, but instead of waiting since 1997 for something that seems to be nothing but vapourware, I'd quite gladly have accepted a graphically updated "Collectors Edition" of FE2 and FFE with the bugs ironed out and some more missions added. Something along the lines of the X-Wing/Tie Figher CD-ROM collection that was released a few years ago. Heck even Monkey Island 1 and 2 have been re-released with a graphical makeover.

Elite 4 - It Lives!
Hi everyone!
I have been a (lazy) and casual reader of this forum since it's introduction. I've loved all versions of Elite from my C64 days and I am patiently waiting for Elite 4.
I stumbled across this and the last part of David Braben's interview is very interesting. After all the negative news with Outsider, this gives us hope that Elite 4 will be produced: http://gdc.gamespot.com/story/6301740/how-elite-took-flight
So, lets try to be positive and I hope that I get to play E4 before I die!!!

I stumbled across this and the last part of David Braben's interview is very interesting.
