The Open v Solo v Groups thread

We have been back and fourth of the selling of the game to include Dev Diary 3 though I think you disagree with such.
.... also released after the game design information - so anything said relating to players working together was going to be optional, given the three modes and shared galaxy that already formed part of the game design upon which the rest of the game is built.
You talk of 'adversely' effected player groups, is it not so adversly effecting Open if Solo/PG are more effective means to achieve the same goal?
All players chose to buy a game where other players are optional and where no in-game features require them to engage in PvP. Every player can choose to play in Solo. Not all players can play in the multi-player game modes. If players choose to play among those who may engage them in PvP, affecting their efficiency in completing PvE activities to affect mode shared game features, that's just one of the many different gameplay choices available to the player.
Achieving equality and equity of all modes I think should be more the goal rather than trying to say that doing X only hurts Y though Z is already hurting from the conditions seat fourth.
Mode equality would be good, i.e. the addition of an Open-PvE mode where those who don't enjoy PvP can play among an unlimited population.
While the removal of Power Play only would remove some content (though limited) from Solo/PG it would be better for the compeative nature of the game and allow for greater compition amonst the player base (something sorely lacking). This change wouldn't invalidate the work of those in PG/Solo as their work would still be critical in maintaing the BGS that supports power play. If anything, I feel the change would help the player base thrive rather than the current notion of strangling those that play in Open and catering to those that play in PG/Solo.
Would those pledged to Powerplay, if Powerplay were to be made an Open only feature, be happy to lose any ability to affect the BGS? If not then they'd still be able to affect both the BGS and Powerplay whereas those in Solo and Private Groups would not be able to affect Powerplay, only the BGS.

In the event that Powerplay were to be made Open only then it'd be more equitable to completely remove any links between the BGS and Powerplay - so that players who can't affect Powerplay are not affected by it (peripherally through changes to the BGS driven by those who engage in Powerplay).

If links between Powerplay and the BGS were to remain in this situation then I strongly suspect that those prone to complaining about players in Solo and Private Groups affecting "their" game would continue to do so as and when BGS changes that didn't go the way the Powerplayers wanted them to were to occur.

You can leave the group game, close everything else and leave the influence on BGS and powerplay and tell everyone, we have interesting online game modes here

In the online game emptiness!!! and it shouldn't be, I came to the game for an online game and I didn't get it like many

When did you buy the game? If it was post 2014, you should have known what you were buying. That is, a game with modes, where people are free to choose the mode they play in while sharing a common environment.

Its been that way for 8 years and the chances of FD changing it is close to zero.

Your profile suggests you joined in 2018, which is 4 years after release. You really should have known.

I knew the game was promising, but alas

There is no difference between an open closed game

Sure.

It is, not sure why you think it would change if you force everyone into open.

The game went down

Been working fine for me all day.

I'm not sure you are making any sense here, we do have in interesting online game. FYI I play in Open 100% of the time, have you ever seen me in game? No? Guess why, because having people in Open doesn't mean anything, it doesn't mean you get to see more players.

In total, let's say 4000 players in the game, 1000 in open, 2000 in single, 1000 in group, what is the probability that in such a big game of 1000 people you will meet him live? very small

I bought this game solely because solo mode. I'm RPG games fan and like solitary expeditions. If Elite Dangerous would be mandatory PvP so this game not for me. Is very good idea to provide modes for any type of gamers. Everybody picks what suits for him.

futile fallacy. The bubble has 20k populated systems. There are less active players than populated systems. And there are VARIOUS ways of instancing:
EDO open
EDO pg
EDH4 open
EDH4 pg
EDPC3.8 open
EDPC3.8 pg
EDX1 open
EDX1 pg
EDPS4 open
EDPS4 pg
solo

So even if you had six figures in concurrent player count, it will be stretched thin safe for specific hotspots such as engineers or CG locations.

The universe of ED is FAR larger than any themepark or sandbox MMO, even larger than EVE
