I almost wrote this one off as just another water world or high metal planet and was about to jump to the next system... but it was close by so I thought what the heck.
The thing with stars is that the closest we can get to them is still far, far, far, far away. Consider our own sun and how big it is compared to earth. If we could get anywhere near as close to a star as we can to a planet, it would fill the entire screen from horizon to horizon. It would appear like we were floating in an ocean of fire, and we definitely would not be able to perceive any curvature. Even small stars are HUUUUUGGGGEEEE!
Hi all. Some absolutely stunning images on here chaps/chapesses - took me an hour to go through these 35 pages so far, well worth it. Im about 800ly out of the bubble at the moment. Some reason I have issues with my mining laser - thermal overload and cannot get it fired up even though I have done a reboot/repair, no module issues, my power usage is only 80% so i have plenty left over. Just cannot figure it.

Then i discover that this is apparently the current highest G landable planet yet discovered at 9.90G!

Nice set of images! Quick tip, if you're copying bbcode's from imgur then you can paste them directly into your forum post, no need to use the insert image button to do so (which will unnecessarily enclose them in additional [img] tags).

I think Elite provides us much better eye candy than any other game I've ever played. Realism is remarkable! This is most likely my favorite thread here. I check it every morning before work.

Whew! Made it to Jacques!
I was just thinking as I was jumping to Colonia, "wouldn't it be cruel there was some cmdr waiting to grief me at Colonia?" Someone just hanging around for the sole purpose of blasting weary travelers and all their system data away.
My heart dropped as I was interdicted on my way to Jacques... I thought, "this is it!" But, thankfully it was just some NPC pirate whom I was able to avoid. WHEW!
