For those of us (like me) who spend too much of our free time playing ED to keep up with all the Galnet stuff and background stories... What has this Salomé person been doing since joining up with these Children of Raxxla peeps (and what's their agenda?) and to what end?
I mean from reading the OP, she was obviously born and raised to be a complete rich-ladydog, and was very good at it... but since her disappearance? More of the same? Change of direction? Complete U-turn? Loony conspiracy theorist? Religious nutjob? Con artist? Used car ship salesperson? Foe of tyranny? Wannabe tyrant? Batgirl or Catwoman?
Don't know whether to cheer her on or shoot on sight.

A few questions
1. Why doesn't Salome just tell all of her supporters the secret once they gather around her in the beginning? I get the point of it for story and excitement but I'd rather have the knowledge she wants to share than some "exciting event" where the odds are stacked that she will die.

2. Even if she does make it to whatever station she is heading to, how can anyone expect her to live after that? Wouldn't her enemies blockade the system to wait to kill her as soon as she tries to leave?

3. How do we scout ahead for security (or players who want to lay in wait to try to attack her) when we don't know her destination beyond "somewhere in the bubble"?

4. Will Salome and her co-conspirators all be flying the same path? Or will they be splitting up in order to increase their chance of one of them surviving this ordeal?

They will split, probably they want to transmit the message in all major powers. I'd hazard a guess that three of them will head to the capital of each superpower while one (possibly Salomé) will travel to a system that plays centre role in the story.

The background on why and how this happens will be detailed in Drew's upcoming book, Premonition.

I just wanted to thank all those involved in organising this event, whatever the outcome it's great to feel involved in the galaxy. The witch head nubula is worth the trip alone, the view from the witch head station when i finally arrived last night was stunning.

I'm totally rubbish at combat, with a life-expectancy in Open less than ten seconds. Therefore, I've decided to fly to 46 Eridani in an unarmed AspX and be an observer, somewhat like Count Bezukhov at the Battle of Borodino. Unlike Pierre, I'll have a wake scanner in order to follow the action.

Good luck to all, whichever side you take.

I'm not a ganker, and have done very little PvP. But if I can make this event, I have the urge to cause chaos where possible. lol
Likely won't make it though. Saturday afternoons are usually busy with house and family stuff.

Have fun all!

The Premonition End Game Event - 29th April 3303.

"To all Elite Dangerous CMDRs.
I am nearing the end of putting together the next official Elite Dangerous novel, Premonition.
My original book, Reclamation, was written long before the game was available, and the story was set by the limits of my own imagination.
This time it’s different.
This book isn’t aiming just to be a compelling story, nor is it just a chronicle of what happened after events in-game. It has been and is still being written ‘live’ as the story develops and continues to be steered by player actions.
Many of you will have been present in notable events, influencing them one way or another, sometimes drastically, sometimes subtly.
Whilst the story of Elite Dangerous itself will continue, a book must have a beginning and an end. That end is approaching and it’s only fitting that the finalé is determined by the players themselves.
To mark this, I am inviting all of you to take part in an in-game event, the outcome of which will decide how this chapter in the Elite Dangerous storyline concludes. The book will be written by your combined actions, for good, or for ill…"

Write on, Commanders.
Drew.

Mission Directive

  • CMDR Salomé, formerly the disgraced Senator Kahina Tijani Loren, is wanted by the Empire.
  • She is accused of terrorism and is a convicted criminal, found guilty of the attempted assassination of Fleet Admiral Denton Patreus.
  • Her co-conspirators; CMDRs Raan Corsen, Tsu Singh and Yuri Nakamura are also wanted for aiding and abetting her in her plans to destabilise the galaxy.
  • So far they have evaded justice and remain at large. Intelligence reports indicate that they will be attempting to reach an unconfirmed destination in the heart of the core worlds (the bubble) for reasons unknown aided by disaffected factions and other malcontents.
  • A bounty of 5 Million credits is offered for Salomé’s death. 2 Million credits is offered, apiece, on receipt of similar proof of her conspirators’ demise.
  • Consider all of them armed and extremely dangerous.
  • They, and those helping them, have been sighted in and around the Col 70 Sector, in the vicinity of the 46 Eridani system.
  • Do not engage in communications. Show no mercy. Kill them all on sight.

FAQs

Do you need the Elite Dangerous Horizons expansion to take part?

While it is not essential, we recommend the use of Horizons. Players with access to Horizons will have the advantages of engineered ships. This is likely to be crucial in terms of survival. The event is not scripted, so whilst we intend to keep all the action in space, we cannot guarantee that planetary landings will not be utilised as events unfold.

Is this PC only?

No. Whilst we are aware of the limitations on Mac users, we will do our best to ensure that they can access the event. PC/Mac users share the same universe and characters should be persistent within them. Xbox players cannot share the same galaxy instance due to technical limitations but we want to include this player-base as well. As a result, Salomé, Raan and Tsu will be present on the PC/Mac, with Yuri appearing on the Xbox.

Will this be played in ‘Open’ mode?

Yes. We understand that some players prefer solo and private modes for all sorts of reasons. However this is the only way to allow a live community event with access to all.

What about bugs?

Whilst there are some known issues, we believe we can work around them. We may update this with some specific guidance to players, please review before the 29th for specifics.

Will the characters re-spawn if they die or disconnect from the game if they are attacked?

No. There will be no combat logging from these characters. If they die, they die. We are playing the primary characters in ‘iron-man’ mode. We have created multiple characters to cater for as much flexibility in peer-to-peer instances as we can. We cannot guarantee instancing availability, but hope this offers the best possibility of meaningful interactions. (We are currently reviewing how the impacts of known bugs with certain weapons can be mitigated and may update this statement to reflect that outcome.)

They can die? Really? What if players kill all the characters?

So be it. That is a valid end to the story. The player-base decides the outcome. Our view is that in open mode everyone is ‘role-playing’ even if they’re not consciously doing so. From a story perspective there are some contingency plans for continuity if this occurs.

What type of event is it?

It is not a CG or a long range exploration quest. We advise participants to be prepared for combat.

How do I support Salomé?

You can be assigned a role here;
Discord (PC Event)
Discord (XBOX Event)

And if I want to kill her?

We’re sure you’ll find a way to get organised.

Can we ‘friend’ these characters in game?

You can ask. Unfortunately the friend mechanism gives an unfair advantage to players by providing the precise location of the individual CMDR on the galaxy map, so we will be selective in whom we accept.

However, the individuals can be identified in open as:

  • CMDR Salomé
  • CMDR Raan Corsen
  • CMDR Tsu Annabelle Singh
  • CMDR Nakamura Yuri D (XBOX)

Where is this happening?

As revealed by the video clue, the event begins in the 46 Eridani System.

Will this be streamed live?

Yes, the following streamers will be covering the event:
CMDR DJTruthSayer
CMDR Hughmann
CMDR Malic
CMDR Selezen
CMDR Nicou (Eng Français)
CMDR Rithwald
CMDR Natsu Dragneelx (Germany)

Greetings
CMDR Natsu Dragneelx

What do we need to do?

You don’t need to do anything. If you feel you wish to do something, do what you must and what you think is best.

- Above Q&A information from Drew Wagar's blog : Here.

Who is Senator Kahina Tijani Loren, aka Salomé ?

Salomé is a very divisive and controversial figure in the world of Elite: Dangerous. She is viewed by many as a terrorist, cult leader, and power-hungry schemer by those sympathetic to the major powers, and an exploration-loving rebel and eccentric outcast to those who are sympathetic to her cause of unraveling the galaxies deepest mysteries.

You can find the perfect synopsis of "Salomé" from Drew Wagar himself, here; Kahina Tijani Loren.

For those new to this story line, it is highly recommended that you read the official Elite Dangerous novel; Elite: Reclamation.

Although not essential to solving the in-game mysteries surrounding Salomé, the book does contain clues, and it will give you the ultimate background into her life, personality, and goals.

Who is Salomé in game ?

CMDR Salomé is the officially sanctioned 'advanced' NPC in game that physically represents the character from the book and brings her to life within the actual gameworld we all share. This allows for a great opportunity for players to interact with her, converse with her, get clues, and attend official events that she presides over.

The identity or identities of those who 'control' Salomé are only known to the author and or FD, and she will only act in accordance to their direction.

The character is 100% roleplayed so will not take part in idle chit chat, nor (we're told) is she obliged to answer questions directly when asked. If she wants to divulge a clue, she will most likely do it during any story related conversation.

Players have been asked not to contact CMDR Salomé if she is online and in a private group or solo mode (these modes are presumably used to move her around in preparation for the next part of the story). She is only classed as 'active' and approachable if she is in Open Play.

If she is in Open Play and you message her, don't feel offended if she does not reply, we presume that she is in convo with others, doesn't always see the message, or could be otherwise distracted by in-game situations. Please don't pester her if a hail is not answered, all sorts of reasons could be occurring that don't allow her time to respond.

More about the event on April 29th 3303

The original event that Drew wanted was a chase from A to B, across the frontier worlds and into the bubble. The organizers were asked to see if this was feasible and interesting enough given the game limitations and instancing mechanics. In our opinion it wasn't, at least not in such a simplistic manner. One of three things would occur with that scenario, 1.. all the protagonist would die in the first 5 minutes - not much of event there then, or 2.. all of the protagonists would leave everyone in their wake and be gone in a flash - again not much of a climax for the book, or 3.. the server would melt with having so many people gathered in one location at one specific time (the Distant Worlds Sag-A* gathering taught me thats one scenario FD won't appreciate!).

So the event has effectively evolved into the following :-

The protagonists will attempt to reach their destinations in the bubble, and those aligned to them, or opposed to them, have been encouraged to spread out across the frontier and deploy fleets to areas that the protagonist will attempt to run through. People who want to help them can fight for superiority in those areas and prevent blockades and camps from forming, while those who are opposed to the protagonists can attempt to chase down and outmaneuver the fugitives, or gain control of the hotspot regions that allies will be patrolling.

This allows several things. Firstly if players follow those guidelines, the event will be spread out over a larger area so the whole thing isn't based on one single focal point and stressing the servers. It allows players on both sides to use some tactics and strategy to out maneuver each other, they can deploy scouts and use intel to spy on each other (which is already happening), they have an opportunity to use tactics, deception, and put some thought into ship loadouts other than simply taking the fastest thing they have.. It basically turns what could have been one big Benny Hill chase (that could have left 90% of the players in their wake out at 46 Eridani) into something much more spread out and inclusive.

Groups and alliances have been forming for the last few weeks, on both sides. Individuals and lonewolf players are taking part and finding roles for themselves, be it scouting for either side, or infiltrating the various discords to gather intel that suits them if they're an opportunist bounty hunter. But like everyone involved, whether they get to directly interact with the flights or the players who are helping and opposing each other, it boils down to instancing. Anything on this scale will always be at the mercy of that.

In saying all that, there's a chance that all the protagonists will die in the first 5 minutes, but there's also a chance one or two of them could make it to their destinations too. Whatever happens people need to understand that nothing of this type or scale has been tried before (that we're aware of) so there is no blueprint to work from. We have no idea how it'll pan out - it could be a lag infested nightmare with people filling the forums with gripes that they never got to see the characters, and others will gripe that the protagonists died far too early and what a waste of time that was! Either way, not everyone will be happy. That's the only thing we're 100% sure of! But lets at least give it a go and see what happens.

If you want to get involved there are discord servers set up on both sides where you can find more information.

PC Allied Server : https://discord.gg/7fnxgex
XBOX Allied Server : https://discord.gg/VhcwSTa

Those who want to see the protagonists fail, please feel free to open your own servers and get organized, there's still time. Or seek out players that have already done that for you. [up]

A big bad careless company sent people to there deaths to prepare for and avoid consequences of an alien invasion. Are we there yet?

I think this is a great idea and makes me want to invest more in ED lore, which I've been fairly slack in doing so far. I don't feel experienced enough to take meaningful part, being a completed PvP pillock but like CMDR Andrew Linton, I'll take my unarmed explorer and spectate, if possible. All the best to those involved. o7

Bit back to front. Salomé has her own agenda, she didn't join CoR, CoR was formed by players who were interested in her story and was in fact formed long before she was really active in game. At some level it was an RP group that enjoyed the story and were interested in other aspects of the story in the intervening (20 ?) months things evolved.

What she's doing is still not clear. Her voiced motive is there's some deep mystery being kept hidden by the various powers out in the Rift and elsewhere that dates back at least 30 years and there's evidence it dates back 100s of years. It becomes a bit fuzzy tying non-canon pre-ED stories to canon current stories and since the story is still evolving it's possible her true motives are fluid in the sense that they'll be retroactively changed to fit what happens. Highly speculative but sometimes reality has to twist to fit fiction, or vice versa depending on your point of view.

I mean from reading the OP, she was obviously born and raised to be a complete rich-ladydog, and was very good at it... but since her disappearance? More of the same? Change of direction? Complete U-turn? Loony conspiracy theorist? Religious nutjob? Con artist? Used car ship salesperson? Foe of tyranny? Wannabe tyrant? Batgirl or Catwoman?
Don't know whether to cheer her on or shoot on sight.

She had a change of heart after meeting one Rebecca Weston, who spans the pre-ED and post-ED world. Rebecca is the one who led her to the Rift mystery.

Whether you should cheer or shoot depends on your own personal motives. Conceptually one could think of her as somebody trying to get info to Wikileaks. Information released on Wikileaks that hurts one group is guaranteed to help another. What is for the greater good only becomes clear in retrospect.

So, Drew...

After weeks of training, strategic planning, and hours and hours of theorizing on how the hell the allies can get Salome home, we've come up with a fool proof and genius plan.

Its basically this...

Verdani fenris might be there... on what side ...his own as always...observer to account and win the long battle ...Humans Rome was build over a long time and torn down in seconds.....choose your battle carefully....remember in this lore you will stay dead..so your legacy will be cannonfodder or king...your choice.

Please think and talk before fire...the suspense is key and we have that control or do we ...tomorrow will tell...lets prove them all wrong or right ...you have the power

So, by the sounds of it, organised groups are planning to ruin this event for independent pilots by killing on sight anyone not affiliated with them, regardless of their intentions.

Typical people monopolising what little story we have in the game, and it's bitter irony that these groups are supposed to be helping! I could get onboard with SDC killing everyone, that's what they do afterall, but for the people that claim to want to support Salomé to be the ones attacking and killing players just doesn't sit right.

I think sadly this is another part of the story the majority of people are going to miss out on thanks to the selfish minority.

Pretty much. But I think we are still hoping that the average independant pilots will still outnumber those following the strategy on the discord channel.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for some organisation, but not the "do it our way or not at all" attitude of these groups. It penalises independant folks who just want to take part...

Oh well, 80 jumps back to the bubble.. I'll go do something else.

Agreed. This is pretty much the tone of things on the Formadine Rift thread too, and there are some other unorthodox activities (first mentioned in the Canonn thread) that are planned by a few commanders too ;).

Is there actually an "official" stream for this event i.e. a streamer embedded in the core team?
