You mean emergent gameplay such as this?:

You seem to be looking at larger ships as a kind of "End game"... Why stick to an Annie when you can have a blast with a Sidewinder? ;-)
In my case, after i got some 15 MM Cr. I sold my type 9 and got back into my Viper. With all that money I have now I can try all the weapons I want, the way I want and how I want (never tried Anacondas yet).
And it s a blast to be honest. Living the life of a fighter pilot without Cr. is tough but now after saving some it is so much fun.
I cant wait until they revamp the Eagle as planned to give her more jump range, because that is going to be my baby. Cant beat those turn rates and the coolness of that nimble ship.
The greatness of ED is that, even in an early beta stage, the game already allows for players to NOT need to get the larger ships to have fun or as an "End Game".
Looks like you quoted the wrong person, because nowhere did I mention larger ships, or it being an end game. I said that there needs to be more things to do than earn credits, i.e. a tertiary goal.
The video you linked serves as a poor example for emergent gameplay. It's just a different way of flying to the docking port without being scanned so he can sell stolen cargo for credits - it's what people do when they are bored (find creative ways of doing mundane things). You can do the same thing with a chaff launcher.
I'm talking about actual purpose, cause and effect, and consequences to your actions. Manufacturing, wars, blockades, assassinations, espionage, boarding derelict ships for artifacts that you can use for manufacturing, doing the actual poisoning of the progenitor cells (not just reading about it from the weekly newsletter), etc.
Yes, yes. I understand that it's coming. I'm giving FD feedback and hoping that they've given it serious thought NOW, instead of having to go back to drawing board after they already did the work.
In X Rebirth, every single thing that you can do ends up revolving around earning credits and it's incredibly shallow. I hope Elite is different. Only 4 more months for retail release.
