The RNG factor: FDev seems happy with it, are you?

Are you okay with the RNG ranges on blueprints?

I'm really not too bothered by it. If I go to an engineer with materials, my module is improved. It might not be the truly perfect RNG roll but it'll be better than stock.

We're all looking at this from the perspective of it all being new, shiny, and something we can't wait to get our hands on as soon as possible. Give it a couple months; you'll have access to most of the engineers you'd want and probably decent levels of access. No longer will things feel so grindy - just accept missions and rewards as they come and you'll accumulate a stock of materials.

Calling in favours will be totally fine - I can take my FDL up to The Blaster (for example), and be 100% certain I'm leaving with the experimental effect I want. I can go back and roll some other recipes later on easy stuff like Sturdy Mounts to rebuild the rep. The only gripe I have is that the chance to naturally generate an experimental effect still stinks - 1/10 even for the best recipes feels low. If it was like 1/4 I'd be willing to consider a few naturally, but not at 1/10.

a bit of rng is ok, no issues there for me. but right now the rng on top of another rng is a bit too much, so no i do not like it, i do not think it is fun.

I voted yes even though I think the overlapping ranges is kind of dumb.

Actually you can completely avoid any overlap by going for G5 as your initial upgrade.
You might want to get a sidey or something to perform junk upgrades with easiely found materials for easy recipes around the engineer's base or use the alternative ways to raise your level with them.
Then -blammo- get your G5 upgrade (yea, yea, jumponium is notoriously hard to find .. about as hard as one step in this "epic" quest: http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=2000 ) and be done with it forever and ever.

Honestly I don't care at this point. There are so many illogical choices made at this point, what's one more. What I wouldn't give for logical and consistent mechanics. But I can't have nice things.

Also don't endless upgrade low engineered modules to higher; move them to any other ships you have a start new. This doubles the value of materials as a module can be farmed down to other ships and live on.

Gotta be careful with that. Tried to sell-rebuy and the server sync ate the module. "Not an officially supported method"... so yea.. module storage and commodities storage por favor. :D

Yes... if you're going to do it, do it in solo.. Having said that I've done it 11/12 times now and not lost one yet (except the first one which I lost because I didn't spot that there's now a specific "buy back" option.. It's the same deal as moving power play modules. Cross your fingers, and your toes and then do the move.

-shakes hairy paw angriely at RNG and it's evil serversync minions-

Yes, it's not supported. It has a max 10 minute window of rebuy opportunity and any interruption due to server down, or client logout/ closure will forfeit.

But it does work. I've handed down a number of upgrades. There is no gaurtuntee, but you lose that upgrade if you reroll anyway; so might as well uprate any other ships one has.
