The Route planner discussion thread

You should also edit the OP and remind people that the guide you outlined (ie maxing out your cargo hold and using all your cash) is not really a wise thing to do for a new player because if you die you loose it all.

Best to follow the guidelines you set out (nice btw) but at a more leisurely pace.

If you know what you're doing full speed / max risk is fine :)

So not for beginners then ..

The first 30-40k are easily made in Styx. Just hunt for USS around planets, some of them have gold canisters just floating around with no pirates. And sells for 5k at the black marked in IBootis (one jump away)

So 2-3 runs in a sidewinder will earn you 40k+a hauler to get started with trading like this after.

Yes, also around Freeport as well. This can be a little dangerous as pirates could show up when you try to grab the canisters, watch your radar as you plunder  Freeport has the added benefit of a black market close by.

Can take a looong time to find a gold drop though, especially with interdictions resetting the USS spawns.

The Cobras don't mess about, jumped in <5K and unleashed missiles....only just got away last time!

I just went with Fish from I-Bootis to Aulin and agri-meds on the return in my Sidewinder with the odd courier job if there was a good one. It makes around 2.5k profit per return run. And about 10k once you have the hauler.

I was looking at the price of Fish yesterday and unless I am mistaken (quite probable by the way) the supply of fish dried up .. as in, low supply and not many in the market plus the price was creeping up ... My memory is not what it used to be so maybe verifying that before taking it on board.

However .. if true .. shows the market works ... Heavily used routes slowly dropping in profit value to force people (realistically of course) to diversify and travel larger circuits :)

I was doing fine with natural fabrics from Azeban to Chango, then I couldn't give them away. Went to Aulin and eventually had to give up and take a loss.

Cheers, sounds like trading is redundant.

The fish/agricultural run still nets me 70K/return trip today in a Type 6 and there are 170K fish at 389 apiece in Jango dock at the moment I'm posting. And Aulin is still buying them at 600ish. I'm doing that run a bit more so I can have the cash to invest in bigger stuff if there's something better to be found.

Yep. Been doing this this morning and still netting a profit (pun intended). Also noticed that I was continually instances with the same few ships shuttling backwards and forwards between Chango and Aulin, with up to 8 commanders present at once. Most I've seen since Alpha 3 and good old Port Zelada.

Just registered to thank you op!

I have "lived" by this thread for 2 days now while getting accustomed with the game.

Tx for this, it helped me get the hauler rather quickly!
The weapons seem to have dropped in price severely though i haven't seen any better option atm.

i leik!

maybe over the weekend i will finally tire of erain, ibootis and aulin runs.

and with this in my hand i shall conquer the galaxy (well 50sly of it)
