Definitely.

It's interesting to observe in antivaxxers the lack of aversion to the ones potentially infected, as predicted in this paper.

The same defect that stops brains from false tagging lies, stops brains from tagging other people with social disgust. Hence opposition to vaccine passports, because those are percieved as unfair by the tag-blind.

This isn't simple stupidity. It's a specific disability.
It's tailor made to drive pandemics. A real behavioural hazard today.
I’ve recently been working with an Emotiv EEG headset (for mind control scalextrics!) and have been experimenting with what thoughts are easiest to use to control the cars. I’ve tried thinking of lemons, focusing on a dot, using meditation techniques, counting backwards, imagining pushing the cars physically (motor cortex) but after reading the info you posted I also tried disgust and horror! Which actually worked quite well! I imagined cutting/slicing my hand, or bins with maggots! Thanks for the link!

Uhhh, ok :)

It's just so Stephen King, moving a racecar by gruesome imagery in the head.
But it does prove the electrical basis of the emotion so well.

This external racecar could be used as a training tool to help brains strengthen output in specific areas.
True!
The first few times I used the device I had no real idea what I was supposed to be thinking or how.
Over time, because of the immediate feedback loops, you do get better at controlling it by learning how to think through the different types of thought processes needed to control something.
I’m pretty sure that when not used for frivolous slot car racing :) it is actually used to help some people get through trauma - by helping to guide that your breathing / state of mind exercises are working.
Maybe it could be used to exercise the brain to help people recognise when they have achieved a type of thinking or fallen into a type of thinking eg: disgust as per that article.

It would be tricky to perform some physical action, I dunno, something like throwing a ball at a target in pitch darkness with no feedback, that’s maybe similar to the issue with the brain - but with feedback it allows you to learn to control it.

Physical Training Suggestions to Survive Covid

Need to work, be dead easy, and need nothing special, doable in 5 minutes or less.
Ideally, should work in general life too and confer good benefit for minimal to zero effort. :) This is not Iron Shirt Ninja Training over flaming lava.

1)IMST - 4 minutes per day, seated while watching TV, 30 breaths total effort
2) NO dumps - 4 minutes per session, 2-3 sessions daily.

Ok so how do we do these?

IMST is a simple method of strengthening breathing muscles.
You pop a little plastic device in your mouth and breath in through it. Pop it out and breathe out. Or- exhale through your nose.
That's it, for 30 breaths/day.
Why?
.... improves blood pressure, endothelial function, and arterial stiffness in midlife/older adults
NO DRUGS, but effects are comparable or better than taking a statin and a calcium channel blocker for high blood pressure.. Takes 6 weeks to get effects seen. Continue the practise to sustain the trained benefit.

Where to get that "plastic device" ?
Buy one after these reviews, or make one.

Get a short bit of PVC plumbing pipe, say 3/4 inch or 1/2 inch size diameter by around 3-4 inches.
Stick some tape over half the opening.
Breathe through the other side.
aXHGJKJm.jpg
You can use a collar with another bit of tape over half the opening to make it a variable sized opening.
Make the opening smaller to increase the difficulty over time by spinning the collar.

Alternatively, take a plastic water/soda bottle, small size.
Poke a hole or two in the base or the side with a hot icepick.
Breathe through the regular opening on the other side.
Experiment till the hole is the right size for you. If it gets too big, just use a bit of tape, cover up some.

I make and give away these to train heart failure/lung failure patients.
But they will work in healthy people too. Do you need to "consult your doctor" for this? Probably not, but go ahead if you want.

Being able to breathe better is a cruical ability if you get sick. The secondary effects on lung vessels are potentially life saving. You can get some of these benefits by just
....adding 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder to food once/twice a day:
The average reduction in SBP of 8–10 mmHg induced by garlic supplements, alone or in combination with other blood pressure medications, is comparable to that of conventional standard blood pressure drug therapeutics, estimated to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events, such as heart attack, coronary artery disease, or stroke by 16–40% (41,42).
The drug companies hate me. Use the garlic powder in place of salt, and double the effect.
:D

Nitric Oxide Dumps were popularized by Dr Zach Bush, a US cardiologist.
It involves some rapid movements, and gets you out of breath. Check out the link, see if you might be interested. If you have injuries or ligament problems etc, maybe skip this. As with any exercise program, even one as mild as this, use caution and check with your doctor if appropriate.

The NO dumps biochemically increases enzyme systems that make vasodilating substances in our arteries, so that has a host of benefits.
One of them is improved renal function, and improved blood delivery to the pelvis.

New studies show that Ivermectin have positive results, and it's cheap, well known drug with well know side effects. It's very interesting.

A preprint study:
- suggests consuming white button mushrooms as a dietary mitigation vs Covid infection. They can downregulate a receptor for the spike protein.

Mushrooms of this variety additionally raise immunoglobulin A levels by 50% after one week, markedly reinforcing the front line defense by our mucosa.

Vitamin D levels are also elevated by mushroom eating.

Ok, so the mind controlled scalextric has gone live at the goodwood festival of speed here in the uk.
The festival was given ‘trial’ status so it could go ahead and everyone on site has to either prove double vaccine dose or recent negative pcr test pre entry.
Masks are worn in indoor environments but not in most places.
It’s nice to see lots of smiling faces but I’m uncertain how long we’ve got before we know how many people will be ending up in hospital. Rates are high amongst the young unvaccinated.

Is there any online footage of the psychic scalextric I'm fascinated.

Well, I found a grocery store 5 km away that I can live with.

One of the effects of the pandemic is the reduction in competition. I'm lucky to live in a metro of almost 3 million. So, I have alternatives. Rural/isolated areas would not have such options. "Grocery Deserts", and the like are going to become more common.
Then it’s great we can grow our own food, being almost self reliant is a blessing!

China delivered 800,000 doses here this morning of the Sinopharm vaccine. Enough for 400,000 adults.

This should prove sufficient to suppress the future death rate significantly. There's still no sign of any doses from the US, but they are negotiating for end of August delivery. We'll need some time to use the existing doses anyway.

Current infection rate/day has fallen to 1/3rd or better of the peak rate. But the deaths are still chugging along. Looking to relieve some restrictions by the 19th.

I could use a pizza.

Couple useful takeaways here:
  • fake KN95's are flooding the markets, and they are useless and hard to detect
  • increased infectivity of current variants require higher performance from masks.
  • best cheap filter material is still a basic surgical mask

the final, most effective hack? It involves a pair of pantyhose. When the researchers covered the surgical mask with a 10-inch section of nylon hosiery, filtration efficiency surged to an impressive 80%.

Tried the hosiery idea, with a generous chunk long enough to go down the neck, over a plain surgical mask. It was very easy to breath through compared to a second cloth one.

From the linked article, last year:
Even the 3M surgical mask performed better with stockings in their study: Testing showed that it went from blocking out 75% of small particles to 90% with the addition of a pantyhose overlayer

Masks in general are useless unless you are a doctor or a robber (LOL) and use it for a limited time when you're operating or robbing people.
A good healthy immune system is the best defense.
