At 24 o'clock decontainment in France.

An outbreak of Covid-19 was detected after the funeral was celebrated in the small village of Vergt, in the Dordogne. One patient infected at least eight other relatives of the deceased.

The prefect of Dordogne sees red. "This is really an illustration of what we do not want to live in the coming weeks," denounces the prefect.

The funeral took place on April 24, in the small village of Vergt. If at the church the family respected the limit of twenty people, several dozen other relatives then met at the funeral home and for the family reunion. The Prefect of the Dordogne and the Regional Health Agency (ARS) confirmed on Friday May 8 that 103 people had to be screened after the discovery of a first patient on Tuesday May 5 by a doctor from Vergt.

Life does not restart as before.

Eight people are infected on the first 40 analyzes completed. The results of the 63 other tests are awaited.

Monday is progressive deconfinement in France. I can imagine the risks in big cities and also all over the country.

People enjoy their regained opportunities... And it shows.
About 10-15% "Covidiots". Clueless? Neglect? Stupidity? Ignorance? No idea.

Those are the high-performance accelerant that runs back into the fire to light it up again.

Streets are filled to the brim, Shops filled to the brim, Markets filled to the brim, the locations entirely lack Security and any Control.
Containment violations? Everywhere. As far as the eye can see.
Apart from some store signs asking people to wear face masks and behave responsibly (which many don't), everything is almost back to "let's behave if everything was normal again" basically.

Expecting the smelly stuff to hit the fan again as quick as the Biohazard can make it happen. 2 new infection cycles is all it'll take, first already baked in and it can't be stopped.
And then it'll be all back at Step 1, just after few weeks and a few thousand more graves.

It's true what they say : "There's no fix for stupid".

On the policy side of things, the response is supposed to occur de-centralized - which is a good idea.
However, by the time the local authorities reach their critical benchmark (50 new cases per 100k and week), the wave is already coming.
By the time the local authorities react, it'll already be too late.

Most notable, lacking ingredient to that national plan : Control and Enforcement
On the streets, looks more like a 155mm Artillery Shell hit the farm and all the Animals race uncontrolled all over the place. The farmer? Nowhere to be seen.

Removing the Biomass from the Biohazard and let it burn out?
We almost had it. Just 3-4 more weeks. But.... they (expletive) it up.

In France there are already 2 new clusters of contamination due to negligence.

The deconfinement begins Monday ...

Overproduction, overconsumption, overpollution, people don't understand anything.

And here was I getting flack for asking why lockdown was being lifted in countries when there are still live cases if it was as virulent and deadly as we were being told.
1 1/2 months ago governments were putting the fear of god into everyone telling them to stay indoors and now the same governments are opening up their countries while they still have the virus present.

If you ignore the music, this is a clear example of how things should be done, come on, just like in western countries. 😂
The doors of the supermarkets in my city are embarrassing. (Gloves and masks thrown everywhere)

Nice bit of propaganda dude, where is the kilometre long queue of everyone else waiting 2m apart for the same treatment. Show me that happening in every real Chinese city, town and village.

The school I went to had maybe 150 staff (who were mostly teachers scrambling to get classes ready) for 2000 kids, 95% of whom all showed up within the same ten minute window at the beginning of the day.

I'm highly doubtful this sort of routine would be at all practicable in many places, even if there wasn't any specific resistance to it, or any shortage of supplies. In the sort of schools I remember, they would maybe be able to disinfect everyone and get them new PPE before the school day was over, and there would have been a dozen fistfights and two stabbings during the process as the fifty adults who could be bothered to tried to crowd control a legion of belligerent youths.

if you want I can show you the photos of the cities full of gloves and discarded masks, and I see Chinese people in my city taking appropriate measures in their stores, doing things that the natives themselves do not do.I am seeing it and it is enough for me, and it is what I can really assure you (I also read that in California they had to close the beaches again because people).

I do not know if it will be Chinese propaganda, but come on, I do not see that on my TV, however I do not stop seeing a lot of fools offering stupid solutions.
It's funny that you talk about Chinese control and propaganda, but I have been following the data offered by an American university for 2 months, and other data collected from American services and almost the only ones that exist, but of course, China manipulates us. 😂

Now that many countries are past the peak of infections and deaths and have for the most part been able to increase hospital capacity some are choosing to lift restrictions.

Some are just getting restless as well, easing restrictions that are proving to be unpopular and difficult to enforce.

There are certain to be more waves and we'll see if distancing measures can be taken fast enough to keep the burden on health services manageable.

Can someone explain this Tweet to me? Italy has always had the highest Coronavirus death toll in the European Union. Why is this suddenly breaking news on the eighth of May? 30,000 seems like a very arbitrary figure to use as a milestone

It says highest in EU... uk is not in EU anymore ...
Basically, anyway to present news which makes our gov appear slightly better than it is by the looks.

It's probably because you're confused as to why lockdowns were put in place to begin with.

The idea of locking down a region/state/country or whatever was not to "kill off" the virus as that's clearly not going to happen until a vaccine is found. The lockdowns are and were in place so as to decrease the amount of people infected at the same time and thus reducing the strain on the health services.

Now that many countries are past the peak of infections and deaths and have for the most part been able to increase hospital capacity some are choosing to lift restrictions. Things might obviously change and lockdowns might be started up again if there is a resurgence in infections but time will tell on that one.
Nope not confused, I am fully aware that the lockdown was to control the level of deaths to a sustainable amount and that they have probably planned to do this several times over a period while inevitably lots more people will die.
As it happens, according to some government statistics, the U.K. only went to 65% capacity during the peak so maybe they are willing to play it faster and looser next time

It is not only about death . It is about keeping the number of people infeted/infecting low...as low as possible, for as long as possible . Time has to be won to hopefully find effective treatments . There have been so many other - potentially long lasting - negaitve effects of SARS - CoV -2 infection observed already...death is not really the only concern .

I can see that but I also think that there may well still be a policy of herd immunity. By relaxing lockdown rules and allowing people to meet up, whatever rules are put in place, it is pretty much inevitable that the virus will spread again.
People become blasé over a period of time, hence why lots of people in the U.K. were out in parks having bbq’s and drinking over the bank holiday weekend. As I side note, I also think recent increase in movement of people is driving government policy rather than the other way round

Just popping in to this thread to say, with Boris Johnson utterly destroying the widely understood "STAY HOME" message today, we're in deep deep cack here in UK now. We're about to have an almighty second wave I suspect.

The change in message a) wasn't discussed with the other 3 governments in UK, and b) isn't agreed with now it's been revealed. Scotland Wales and NI First Ministers ALL refusing to change the message, reiterating STAY AT HOME. And c) apparently even Health Secretary Hancock's response to Boris's plan was "give me a break!".

sigh
