Better were your masks people 😧

Couple throws hot coffee at man for not wearing a mask. Ends in a brawl.

Woman pepper sprays people for sitting in the park unmasked :

Sometimes I'm under the impression where I live is in the eye of a hurricane. Whenever it comes to weather extremes and now also on epidemic spreading. And no, I won't tell you where that is - before you guys all come over here. :p
And no, I'm not living in a bunker, before you suspect something like that. I'm no prepper anyway, not even when it comes to toilet paper. But I'm always living after a low fuel conduct (even in games)... ;)
Maybe you should do some prepping, because the direction we're heading, it will be needed at some point. At least have food and water for 72 hours as a minimum, and get out of the city, the cities are a death trap!

The coming years are unfortunately not cheerful.

Maybe the human will finally show more humility.

It is really necessary already for the environment. Yesterday I learned that 1/3 of the French admit throw garbage out of the window of their cars on the highways.

Offhand, the Herman Cain story is the reason to mask up. You'll likely survive the pepper spray etc.

Moved locally from "sporadic cases" to clusters.
Next step is lots of clusters, and then it's up the curve. 29 hospitalized, 1 critical.
That's 15% occupancy in Covid specific bedspace, with the rest of the service in reserve.

Prime Minister himself did a TV briefing with the health officials. Clusters formed in a bar, and in 2 schools. So the big SEA exam "might" get postponed, and bars "may" get shut down in 3 days. This is a pretty big retreat from the narrative and comes a few days before the election, so he gets points.

Public gatherings are now limited to 10 max. Police will patrol to enforce. That puts a hard cap on cluster size.

He's fully aware that we could end up like the US if we can't secure it now. I don't see containment ahead, folks. But we can at least see the cliff looming.

Got a call from a family friend, who wanted medical certification to go back to work. They were reported to head office by a customer, for visible signs of illness. I put them and their family in quarantine, at home. This is a legal thing here, involving the police. They are ok with it.

Test results are pending. "Monitoring" them by phone for symptoms. We're all stressed. Wait time here is 24 to 48 hours.

From the CDC report on the big cluster in Georgia:

These findings demonstrate that SARS-CoV-2 spread efficiently in a youth-centric overnight setting, resulting in high attack rates among persons in all age groups, despite efforts by camp officials to implement most recommended strategies to prevent transmission. Asymptomatic infection was common and potentially contributed to undetected transmission, as has been previously reported (14). This investigation adds to the body of evidence demonstrating that children of all ages are susceptible to SARS-CoV-2 infection (13) and, contrary to early reports (5,6), might play an important role in transmission (7,8). The multiple measures adopted by the camp were not sufficient to prevent an outbreak in the context of substantial community transmission. Relatively large cohorts sleeping in the same cabin and engaging in regular singing and cheering likely contributed to transmission (9). Use of cloth masks, which has been shown to reduce the risk for infection (10), was not universal

Key emphasis mine.
The implications for countries reopening schools is significant. 75% of the sample tested positive.

Our SEA exam would place every child aged 10-11 into groups in enclosed rooms for 5 hours. It is ripe for disaster.

It always baffles me that I, as a professing atheist, constantly preach (not really, but by living it) to other people something about "trust in God". Sometimes I have the impression that I have more of it than so many professing Christians. Generally speaking, I don't mean to imply that you are one. 🤷‍♂️

I don't know, maybe I would be a prepper myself if I lived in the USA. It seems to be some kind of mental anxiety virus. Or just a more or less mild form of mass hysteria...

Once I lived in a big (by German standards ;)) city, but I wouldn't even dream of repeating it again. I live in a small town, just a little bit bigger than a village. Besides, I firmly believe that if such a situation should ever occur, our lives won't be worth a damn anyway and any prepping will at best delay our suffering for a few more month. 'The long Dark' as computer game is certainly appealing. But if you really believe that you would survive in real life under such conditions, then your imagination is seriously disturbed.

Prepping is just another form of belief in my eyes - but just as irrational.
Well, don't say i didn't warn you, chaos is coming also to Europe, prepping is more than just food, it's also to be able to take care of yourself without all the infrastructure we have in a modern society. I'm very happy i'm 100 % self sustainable.

Fall of economies, health measures in dispersed order and ever heavier human toll.

WHO says "the world must be prepared to fight for a very long time".

I have the impression that all these officials know many more things that we.

I certainly don't, and I'm as careful as I can be. And yet I stick to my above words - without underestimating the facts, but also without becoming superstitious or panicking.
You’re right not to panic

When I said not to make fun of the virus, it is that I know a couple of elderly people who came to the pool.

It was in January and we were talking about the virus that was in China only at that time.

The lady was laughing at the virus, and I said, "Don’t mock it, it’ll bring you bad luck."

She replied with a laugh, "This is not a small ridiculous Chinese virus that will prevent us from living".

In her small village in France near my home, her husband died in April ... of Covid ... thousands of kilometres from China in a small French village. :(

I have not seen this lady again and I do not wish it.
