The SCB (Shield Cell Bank) Thread

I didn't realise this was going to happen.
I thought they were going to address it by reducing player use instead of increasing NPC use....oh well...

Well, I remember Sarah saying that NPCs would start equipping them but they would not stack them the way that players do. So this whole spamming thing seems like an exaggeration in the first place. I have seen them use them but I haven't seen any Pythons chaining 5 SCBs.

Great the sadistic AI dev team trends continue seriously I hope this a bug that gets removed very quickly because shield cell banks are annoying at best on players the last thing we need is to have them on AI ships that can potentially have infinite supply due to them not having to follow the same conventions of player ships.

If players can do it, NPCs should be able to do it.

True, but if a player suffers from chaff, NPC should too. If a player suffers from an opponent using silent running, so should an NPC. 3 days ago I was chaced by a python boosting as fast as I could boost, for several minutes, while constantly firing it beam lasers...

I haven't checked if these things are still here, but I surely hope not.

They do follow the same rules, they are even worse off. A perfect example is how with the patch you can blow a power plant and the AI ship will just stop. The reason being is that they don't know how to manage power like players do. The rules are there, the AI just can't deal with that... yet.

Ah I hope your right i just have a very hard time trusting devs especially when every patch they seem to make things harder and harder with each patch.

NPCs are affected by Chaff, if they are using a weapon that is affected by Chaff. They are affected by Silent Running as well and just as a player, if they can see you, they can still aim and shoot, they just can't lock on. The only exception to that rule is Security ships being able to pull of scans without a lock.

I'm not sure about that. Yesterday I destroyed the power plant of an Asp and it coasted to a full stop. The sub-target list showed all its weapons as OFF but its drives and FSD were still ON. So, it looked like it didn't "understand" how to deal with the situation. Later I did the same to a Fed Drop Ship and it stopped firing weapons but its Drives and FSD were still working and it even managed to escape with a hyperspace jump. So that one did "know" how to deal with it.

Yea, I still swear that they do more damage than we do but I don't really have any data to prove it and no one else seems to feel the same way. It just seems like I drop shields quicker, but Sarah swears that she hasn't even finished tuning the AI and thus have no reason to cheat.

Good to know.

Nah, you just need to match your skill and ship with opponents you can take on. Going up against an Elite Vulture if you are not capable now gets you your bottom spanked.

Easy mode high ranked AI are a thing of the past.

Some people just want easy wins. I want to see the world burn. Muhwahahahaa.... umm... i mean, i want high ranked AIs to be a challenge.

^^This. Pick your opponent and run if you can't take him.
And high ranked NPCs should be a challange! Bring it on! :D

NPCs are now spamming SCBs in 1.4
I guess we knew this was coming but still feels like A BAD DAY, SCBs ruined pvp now they are going to ruin NPC battles too <sadface>

If you can't beat a npc with scb's then perhaps your should retire from combat. Either A. Your a woeful pilot or B. Have a disability.
How does scb ruin pvp? Afterall were all on the same playing feild. It's like saying 2 people in a sword fight both with the same type of sword and one says " this isnt fair please remove your sword"

I have seen just yesterday a Cobra in a CZ firing 4 or 5 SCBs in succession. I don't even want to know how many SCBs the Anacondas are carrying…

You can build your ship for hours of swimming in an RES, or you can build your ship for punching straight through SCBs. Don't do the former, then complain that it's taking forever.

^This.

My 2x Class 3 plasma accelerators don't care about shield cells on NPCs. :D

I can't wait to give it a go, and I feel if Elite NPC's are using chaff/SCBs more then for me it's better training when I come face to face with a sadistic CMDR. I'll still lose, but i guess I'll lose better....

It was not a challenge i flew around the target not taking any damage to myself as i easily outflew it (and killed it as soon as they lost shields) - what it was was boring

Had no problem killing my target - the whole fight was me taking no damage while the npc did nothing to fight back - just firing off scbs when the shields were about to fail.

they spoil it by prolonging a fight that would have been over alot sooner without them.

I'm entitled to my view that SCBs spoil the fun of combat.

Got jumped by a conda and 2 cobras last night first time I've had to run from a npc fight, tried to keep out of range of the conda take down the Cobras then swing back and finish of the fight. But no couldn't shake the conda whilst dealing with rest was a very interesting fight

The thing was I wasn't expecting that which caught me of guard so yes a very pleasing to see. Will have to think about removing some cargo space and refit my sc just in case lol
