The SCB (Shield Cell Bank) Thread

would it not be better to have "Damn these SCB's & Chaffs, how do I go about or can anyone provide tactical advice on combating this threat".
The only way to counter SCBs are with SCBs. That's how overpowered SCBs are, and that's what this issue is about. IMHO.

People are STILL on about this? Jesus Christ...

I don't think SCBs should be nerfed. If they were nerfed, I would say change absolutely nothing about them other than you can only mount one on a ship.

Honestly, they're pretty balanced right now. I mean, remember 1.0? When activating a SCB IMMEDIATELY restored shields? Now there's a 5 second delay after activation, giving players a chance to take down shields. There's not a whole lot of brokenness there. It's about as OP as dual chaff... Except it isn't...

Sheesh, just seems like another EASY BUTTON post. There are tactical ways to deal with SCBs, but people always want to nerf everything to THEIR liking. Basically wanting the full game to play like CQC. You form wings for a reason. If you run up against someone better equipped than you then so be it. Live and learn. Why even bother working to raise credits to get a good build for whatever occupation you want to persue? There's no definitive rule that says because one dude is flying a vulture should ALWAYS beat a cobra or ASP. Whatever happened to being tactical and using your head in combat to overcome your opponent? Sounds more like wanting Call of Duty in space vs learning to be a smarter fighter pilot.

It just makes combat drawn out and dull IMHO. Out of principle my Python now has about half a dozen SCBs... I was fighting another CMDR and I got so bored of the fight, I left...

What is tactical about simply fitting as many SCBs as you can to out last and weather the storm?

I'd much rather there be a limit on SCBs (eg: one module permitted - rebalanced) to make it more down to combat, than down to how many SCBs you happen to have brought along.

And it gets very tiresome when people supporting the current approach start their posts with a veiled insult. TBH it's rather childish.

The fact is that your last sentence has been said much much much times in this thread and has been discussed as much.

Why is it obviously our way to see things that are wrong and not yours? FD has stated that they will REWORK SCB anyway so... Event them seem to agree on that.

It's not a my way or your way issue, if FD have said they will revisit this then why has the OP raised it in a new thread where countless others have opened similar threads before it, it just did not need a new thread, as you have said this has been said so so many times already and not just in this post.

Most of the threads I see calling for the banning or nerffing (not sure if it is a real world) of various ships components, modules and hardware are from CMDR's who provide little evidence that they have even sort such tactical advise, or even tried to outsmart there opponents, NOPE they simply call for a ban or nerf, but hey, it's all academic as FD are going to revisit this, but are not FD evenly divided on this as well.

Lets wait and see.

Sorry but I don't agree with you, I actually don't use SCB stacks and have won many a fight with ships that do, but then each to there own.

And I have lost a fair few fights as well.

Good God, not another SCB thread! I really wish you people would stop crying about them. They don't need removed or nerfed. If you are unable to defeat an opponent who uses SCBs then you need to rethink your weapons load out strategy.

As has been pointed out countless times, they don't make you invulnerable and they take a while to come online so just keep hammering the shields. Remember they are useless once the shields are down.

Sorry, no, I will not turn my Python or Anaconda from their useful multi-purpose role into a stack of SCBs, just so that in the event I'm interdicted by an imbecile that is loaded to the brim with SCBs. I would prefer that Frontier limit them for obvious reasons.

The fact is that this thread pointed out some great solution/propositions to the SCB problem so it's not that kind of nerf thread you are saying. That's why I said to read it.

Fair point ref the various solutions proposed but I don't see any difference in this threads contents then others where some of these solutions have been proposed and isn't my solution just as valid as others, just baiting you.... sorry, let's wait and see what FD does, as this will not be the last thread that opens ref this issue.

Stay and fly safe CMDR Helgarth.

I don't see a problem with dual Chaff in the game, there is a way to counter with fixed weapons, again your are comparing apples to oranges. The only ways to counter SCB resort to ramming, and to this day I never been rammed by anybody because I use thrusters a lot. Another option lots of beams with rails and that would only against NPCs and others Cmdrs new to PvP.

...and here we get to the problem. So CMDR A turns up to a fight with gimbals. CMDR B turns up with chaff overload... and you say CMDR A needs to fly away and refit?

IMHO there's too many cases where someone turns up with PAPER and someone else with ROCK and the battle is almost over before it's started.

Really? You don't know that gimbal becomes fixed if you untarget? Chaff countered.

More I read these threads, the more the ignorance stuns me.

Sorry but it is not the only way combat SCB stacks, and chaff stacking is not any different again plenty of threads about this too, you found a possible solution for one just need one ref the SCB's.

Wrong you could deselect your target and fire away, but I do agree with SCB you have to be ready for the encounter, therefore, there is not such of thing as casual PvP.

What other solution do you have to counter SCB stacking please enlight me? You better don't reply with SCB stacking, because there is reason I started this thread.

Fit your ship so you can take down their shields in the 5 seconds it takes to activate the SCB. Once it is down, the SCB is useless.

Not hard to do at all.

Ship position, weapon loadouts, repeated hit and run sessions, ramming, I don't how good or bad you are in battle, what you fly, all I can say is for me it's another challenge to overcome tactically, as already stated while I do not use SCB stacks, if I had too I would not have a problem doing so, but not as a means to combat other ships who SCB stack.

Add: Fly in a wing.

*sigh* ...and out pop the veiled insults again. Classy!

Yes, you can make gimbals fire straight, BUT:-
1) They are already less powered than fixed.
2) They do not - I believe - then aim as well as fixed (which do gimbal a tad?)
3) You lose your lock on your target (for no real reason).

So not only do you start with less powerful weapons, you then have more penalties put on top...

TBH, I think there should be an option (toggle/hold) to make gimbals fire straight, without having to unlock your target.

ps: Any chance future posts could be polite?
