The search for the thargoid homeworld

I know that the search for systems and planets with thargoid bases has now been completed but i feel as though that is not the entire purpose of the TS, TL and TP. Have the 2 spectromaps been studied further? Has there been any other attempts to send audio signals to the TL? Has the mystery system been found? (the system that was debated on the spectromap)... i am very curious as to the true intent of those spectromaps.
Also, there must be an easier way to decipher the TL audio messages. Guardian tech may hold an answer since thargoid are so afraid of it.

I would not waste your time searching for it. Into COL 70 becomes unlocked we can't verify what significance that place has.

Col 70 was previously visitable though wasnt it? Someone must know if it resembles the right picture on the spectrogram?

The issue with "homeworld" is - what do you mean exactly?

It's possible (maybe probable) that the Thargoids are extra-galactic in some way. It's always been a theory that's been floating around in old lore, new lore and lots of speculation on these forums.

If that's the case then the Thargoids homeworld (as in, planet where they evolved) isn't in our Galaxy at all.

However, as you've said, we do know there's "something" in the Col70 sector, although it might just be a beachhead in our galaxy. There's an idea that the maps shown in the Thargoid ground sites are the Thargoids home galaxy (or home reality, or witchspace), the blobs might be territory they've conquered. It's equally possible that it's the 45th Galaxy they've fully conquered in a billion-year expansion across the cosmos - we might just be seeing the very first edge of the expansion wave reaching our galaxy. Again, in a situation like this, the Thargoid Homeworld might not even exist any more!

If the analogy between Thargoids and Ants is correct then each time they start a new colony, then it's essentially like starting a new race entirely (each Any colony is entirely separate fro the one that spawned it). Which means wherever the new queen is located is the "homeworld" - for example, it's possible that since the Pleiades shell is centred on Merope 5C, that's where the Queen is located (or will be located). It's possible that the system in the Col70 sector is a similar "homeworld" for the queen in that area. There's not really any way of knowing just yet, but there's also no way to know what "Thargoid Homeworld" means.

That's not that far fetched, for example Earth is our "homeworld", but it's a polluted mess and it's not really that important any more - so if the Thargoids went to Sol right now and carpet bombed the Earth, other than it being annoying for historians, it wouldn't really affect anything. Even if they took out the entire Sol system (and Mars as the seat of Federal Government), then we've still got the Alliance and the Empire (and arguably Colonia) left as independent functioning governments, let alone the independent unaligned groups - so, where's our Homeworld? I'm not even sure any humans are born on Earth any more, so where is the homeworld of humanity if any alien were to come looking for it? Achernar? Alioth? Mars? Colonia?

There's also theories that the Thargoids are the product of Guardian genetic tinkering, or that they are the Guardians in some far-evolved form, or that they are the Guardian AI evolved over a million years into a more bio-mechanical form. If any of these are the case, there's an argument to be made that the Thargoids don't have a homeworld, as such.

I guess my point is - while it would be interesting to locate the origin point of the Thargoids - I'm not sure finding a "homeworld" would be useful in any practical way. Right now it seems we're lacking in virtually any information whatsoever :(

I do think you're right though, I think there's some mystery left in the Link spectrograph, there's a few bits that have never been fully understood, but they don't seem to be relevant to anything in particular. I expect it'll be one of those things where next year we'll look at them again and say "ahh, look, that bit means this, makes sense now!" or something :)

For all we know the Thargoids could have their core systems in the Magellanic Clouds, or the Andromeda Galaxy, placing them far beyond our reach unless we are to get a new version of 1984-Elite's Galactic Hyperspace. We'll most likely have to wait for more Thargoid content to make its way to Live (3.0).

Yes i see your point. A "homeworld" would be really quite pointless but i guess my underlying meaning points more towards a hoard of thargoid tech and surface sites in one system instead of sporadically placed in a sphere of systems with crash sites here and star maps there.

It just feels like a bit of a dead end until COL 70 reveals it's secrets. But does that mean we should all stop and wait to see? I am relatively new to the game so I'm not entirely sure how much research has been put into the thargoid messages or the spectrograms and for every use of the TP, TS and TL. Why does this thargoid tech react the way it does when we interact with it and do they have more purposes?

Having said that, has there been any attempts to communicate with thargoids other than offerings and honks... given that we know they communicate on the octave scale maybe we should fashion a message of our own to play back to them? Just the other day I witnessed odd thargoid behaviour. This also suggests they are interactive and may respond differently?

Can the thargoid wakes be used to trace their movements? Do TP, TS and TL react to thargoid wakes?

All good questions :)

It's a complex issue indeed. There's also the permit locked HIP 22460 system which seems to contain a Thargoid surface site and a human megaship that's been locked down for ages. Many people think this system is significant to the "network" of ground sites, it could be the location of Jameson's attack on the mothership, it could be some sort of "main base", etc. Again, much like the Col70 sector, we just won't know until it's unlocked.

For now, yes it is, but it taken 3 years to get this far!

The Canonn site is fairly up-to-date: https://canonn.science/codex/the-unknown-artefact/

However, there's a few unanswered questions. A major one is why the UA's talk in morse code, and there's a few tiny bits on the spectrogram that are still occasionally debated.

Yes, many, this is a particularly brilliant one: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...-with-the-Thargoids?highlight=project+mercury and this one by Jaiotu: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...ge-the-Thargoids-in-communication-not-combat? and this is a pretty comprehensive set of tests ffrom Jmanis: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...Interactions?p=6262123&viewfull=1#post6262123

It doesn't mean there's nothing left to try, but a lot has been tried and the Thargoids are remaining stoically silent.

Though due to game limitations (sadly) the way we can interact is limited. Many people have tried blink-coding morse at them, dropping pretty much every items you can imagine. I can't find the post now but someone (I think it was Le-Betz) did a series of videos where they fed Thargoids many (I think about 50+ Meta-Alloys) to see what would happen, etc.

Can the thargoid wakes be used to trace their movements?

Currently no, wake scanning has been tried, and there's been a few attempts to see through the wormhole they generate (at least three times I can remember, the wormhole has stayed open and people have made close-up videos of it, but you can't fly into it. Here's one of them: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...Interactions?p=6172636&viewfull=1#post6172636

Do TP, TS and TL react to thargoid wakes?

I don't know! I've no idea if that's been tried, it would be a tricky proposition since Thargoids will attack you for carrying such items, and scoop them if they're floating loose... but interesting to find out :)

We also know from Beta and other announcements that we'll soon be seeing a new type of Thargoid ship out there, whether that will be part of a whole new set of Thargoid interactions or just that ship joining the fight we'll have to see, but often Fdev don't demo everything in the Betas, so I wouldn't be surprised it something big happens once 3.0 drops, not long to wait now :)

Some pretty interesting stuff there.

[I don't know! I've no idea if that's been tried, it would be a tricky proposition since Thargoids will attack you for carrying such items, and scoop them if they're floating loose... but interesting to find out]

I was hyperdicted by 3 goids and I was carrying a probe. However just before the emp went off I managed to jettison the probe. They didn't attack me. All 3 goids attached a tractor beam to the probe and seemed to dance around it making some weird noises (this was the weird thargoid behaviour I previously mentioned) They all then left the probe alone and jumped out of the scene. It all seemed rather theatrical but couldve also just been glitchy. Had I known what the hell to do I would've attempted to experiment. I don't have any xeno tech so I can't even scan the wakes or the goids, I was just happy to get my probe back 😂. So in respect of this, it is entirely possible to take goid tech into goid populated space. It is also possible to outrun a goid ship and avoid being scanned by boostin from the goid cloud until the objects inside the cloud disappear. The goid will follow until then and then open a worm hole.

And it also seems my quote didn't work
