I so wish I'd come across you before all these changes... would've dumbfired you into oblivion.

So much fail in your post it's mind numbing.

Or you're just mad that FDEV balanced the fact that you CAN Dumbfire an annaconda into oblivion.

I'm in 70 OPHIUCHI in the high intensity conflict zone, if you're interested for a dance off ;)

Well My Cobra isn't effected by the changes at all in terms of power management. It makes it "slightly" harder to run a full A fit with beams in some fits, but overall it's fine.

So I guess the gap between the Viper & Cobra just got even larger then...

Yeh, this is the only reason I feel they should be limited like shields. One per ship. Some ships are barely affected by the increased power usage.

Nope, I just get attacked by a lot of vipers, they then run away when I (Before 1.1) Had the clear edge. The running tactic with viper was to come in, Alpha strike, then if their shields sustain too much damage, They pop a shield cell and run away to reload for a second alpha strike.

Viper isn't a bomber craft. Viper was meant to be the dedicated superiority fighter in an interception role, But then again, I'm not judging. But at last there is some incentive to get those bigger ships in the first place.

Don't like it, Don't attack an annaconda in an interceptor craft, use a dedicated bomber.

Agreed! Heavy fighter/interceptor tactics are exactly that. It is back to making more sense and the Wings feature will make it even more apparent, IMHO.

I have to agree....youre 2 million cred viper shouldnt be an I win button against a 100m+ vessel...thats all there is to it. Im going to enjoy watching my turrets tear them apart now. You want to engage me 1v1? Ok..but dont act like you werent warned by the patch notes. Best bring friends now that the clipper can mass lock you easily.

Why should they take any significant power at all? Those emergency batteries that charge your phone don't draw any.

Shield cell banks are pretty much Capacitor banks. They draw power from your power plant but are able to deliver one large dose of power into your shields at a time.

Think of it this way, theres a 5 second delay, so it has to charge a complete shield cell in 5 seconds then FIRE it. Really, it should use no power at all EXCEPT When you Activate it, then the power draw kicks in all at once and "Charges" the shield after 5 seconds, then power would drop to nominal again. The mechanics don't work like that in this game though, all power is "activated" when you open hardpoints. If it was more realistic, when you trigged the SCB THAT's when your power would all go offline and the shield cell would be sucking up all the power so it could activate.

Wait till you see the difference the 5 second spool up makes to the Cobra.

To be honest I think the changes haven't affected the Viper too badly but have really hurt the Eagle, and made things a lot more difficult for Cobra pilots.

Larger ships with many cells where just to buffed and the cells needed a proper balance.

Remember these cells are re-charging a shield across a whole ship in 5 seconds, that energy has to come from somewhere and allowing people to carry around a red live potion with no consequences was the reason they were balanced / nerfed.

You phone doesn't instantly heat your house in seconds, it just plays Candy Crush and it still needs power constantly to stop it discharging throughout the day otherwise you would have a 6 month standby time.

Infact I would buy a "cell bank", something that already got "extra" power inside before buying. Otherwise it wouldn't be named "cell bank", but something like "accumulate my ship power, and release it after 5 seconds than i want" ;)

Ah - I was thinking of them more as batteries.

(It does beg the question - why logically have shield banks - why not just a better shield capacitor?)
