Off-topic but...

Before I slog my way through the 12 PAGES that came up in about an hour or so, can any of you guys who offered to help Mouse with some Palladium HELP US WITH THE *%^!! limpets?

Doesn't matter who makes the wing: me, Mouse or Julissa. We abandon; Mouse moves in... but the limpets keep exploding on the cargo bay doors! Keeps happening. ANYONE have a clue as to why or what we should do? Thanks!!!

... we now return you to your solo-open-group donnybrook.

The Batronatrix does not take no for an answer..

Where are you?

we were out near LFT 37, then Karu (?)

Tried resetting the instance 2x. Tried leaving & reinviting wingmates. Tried wing beacon.

Anyway, I am out; it seems ED doesn't like my ping time and keeps disappearing both Mouse & Julianna; they seemed to be stable so I left them at it. I just want to know for the future. Looks like there's bug reports of this happening since the 1.3 patch -_-

Thanks though! +rep

What needs to happen is a scaled security repsonse to players who kill clean players. Each clean player killed triggers a faster response from cops and the more powerful they are.

That and/or allowing players to pay credits to other players basically created player generated missions.

Basically something other than splitto g the community up across a bunch of game modes.

Well folks we finished our protest march to Hutton. And do you know what? my ship was destroyed at least 6 times....my friends that went with me also had theirs destroyed a number of times! The attackers weren't that good at PVP though...only two of us were stopped before we got to deliver our only loads for the CG. And oddly...none of us died. We were magically reinstated with our ships and went right on about our business!

Amazingly, not one of those PVP players were close to being converted to giving up their PVP in Open....can you folks believe the entitlement showed by these people? I mean honestly demand us to drop our loads or die because they 'controlled' the area around the station? They don't apparently know that only folks that are making a statement are delivering in Open. That's some hard core role play for you!

Well, my protest is over...and was quite successful if you ask me! PVP in Open is all about Role Playing and ignoring the world around you. There is no reward for killing people...you can't stop anyone from doing something...and all the talk is about care bears and getting around their blockade. I still scratch my head...and <shrug> still make and do more for the game by avoiding it!

Obviously, peoples mileage will vary...and I am sure some amount of enjoyment can be found in the activity...I mean we had an evening of fun and story telling related to this blockade.....I guess in the end...that's what this is really all about. Making a story..following your way through it...and coming to an ending! Hmmm...I wonder...nah..I would never run through this much work to make THAT kind of point.

I doubt that an Open PvE mode is needed but rather more ingame penalties for killing clean players. 11kcr isn't that much of a bounty depending where you are.

I would suggest that the pilot's federation should be able to set bounties (huge ones) on players if they kill other clean players. Around 100k - 5 million credits depending on both player's ships, rank and scenario.

The bounty can be paid off, does not decay, persists in all modes and can only be get rid off if killed by another player or paying it off.

However, there has to be some balancing so players can't just shoot eachother to gain credits.

*remembers EVE's Local channels in the market hubs*

Oh yeah. :(

brings back memories of a character named "Meloveyoulongtime".
i think it was Amarr system she was in.

and the isk doublers.
people complained about the isk doublers and i always said that anyone that would fall for THAT scam is someone that needs to delete the game, i don't want them here.

in open/group/solo i have not seen a way for players to transfer wealth to each other in this game, and i hope there never is.

So if you are not fine with PvP, why would you buy a game, and enter the Open mode in chich PvP can occur? As far as I am concerned, you "consent" when you enter the game mode. This is why FD do not punish people for PK in Open.

to answer the underlined part there is a video [link] that says that griefers (the word used in the video to describe the actions) would be segregated off to their own aspect of OPEN, AWAY FROM THE REGULAR population and only encounter other members of their kind where they would be free to prey on each other to their hearts content.

all the complaints that open is a wasteland devoid of targets seems to show that this plan is working. sometimes. once in a while. maybe. perhaps.

i have also read people saying that bounties follow the ship rather than the account. if that is true and if the way to tell if you are a griefer or not is your bounty.
then all you need to do is get a new ship to get the clubber back in with the baby seals.

something that is disheartening to see in the video is the belief that the bounty system will work.

change the current OPEN to OPEN PVE where if you hold a currently valid letter of marque you could ram or shoot or interdict or in anyway harm other player character ships.
or in specific zones designated as combat zones.
or in group mode where that specific group has PVP allowed. . .

no more unrestricted OPEN PVP.

I still fail to see how my game is 'easier' because I shun pvp. That statement is clearly inflammatory by attempting to draw a distinction between opens 'harder' game and groups/solo 'easier' game. Yet the statement is allowed and we cannot challenge it? It is indeed self aggrandising to assume one style of game is harder than the other, as it tacitly presumes the player in open has to work harder. This is not the case at all.

when standing, i am a little less than two meters tall [6 foot and change for the barbarians reading the thread] i can reach the items on the top shelf with ease.
is it fair for me to shame and belittle [pun intended] people that struggle or can't do the same?

yet those adept at PVP feel free to insult with impunity those of us that are not good at fighting.

i can live with the three modes as they are.
i would prefer something different, but i can take it as it is and enjoy the game.

i would like something more definitive from the devs than "no plans at this time".

a statement like "PVP will no longer be part of open without a letter of marque as soon as we can find a closet to put the rabid PVPers in" would be nice.

oops, i've lost me cooth.

i'm sure someone will complain that i have called them rabid now and get me banned and my message deleted again.

Bought the game because it offered many things besides PVP, I want to interact with others.. I don't want to be penalized for doing it and to me pvp is penalization. So I had to find a group.

why have I entered open? Ran out of fuel not long ago.. was one system short of my target.. my goof. Contacted Fuel Rats.. went to open so they could get to me... at no point did I "sign up" for PVP while in open. I was in open because that is the ONLY .. emphasis on ONLY mode where you can freely interact with others without jumping through any hoops.

We will be waiting, with a lot of ammo. I'd like to see something like this!

Really, battle of who has the most SCBs is interesting to you?
Cause it bores the snot out of me.

This ^^^^^^ it has become like those cookie-cutter builds; Mages, Priests, Warriors, Tanks, etc. where everyone is minmaxing so they all have almost the same build. SCB until you got no more and then bravely bold sir robin away.

pfaugh.

Tapeworms are considered PVP now?

Tapeworms are considered PVP now?

Parasite versus Person

I remember seeing that they are good for weight loss, perhaps we need a Weight Loss mode, your guns only fire if you run 2 miles on a treadmill and you have to use a rowing machine to go to super cruise.

:D

This is one of those points/ideas that comes up in this threadnaught. It's actually a good one. It doesn't seem to excite the more, erm, "bloodthirsty" crowd like other suggestions do. Good ideas here.

Many solo players and even some switchers have asked for sensible law and order presence and penalties (like plain murder, being able to dock while wanted, etc) and indicated that they would be a lot more receptive to open if this was implemented, including some player ability to bounty hunt, escort & etc. The tiered security response is also a good idea and would eminently be fair.

Most people playing in solo have always been playing solo. The ducking-in-and-out of solo is a player problem, not a mode problem.

PvP occuring in open is totally fine, and you should expect it to happen sometimes.

On the other hand, I think the game would be vastly better if the penalties for killing a clean/non-ennemy player in high/med security systems
would bring harsh consequences on the offender, more so for repeated offenders. Consequences such as :

  • increasing insurance premium, i.e. if the offender dies, has to pay a fine. For eg. an amount equal to killed player rebuy.
  • credible escalating police response, with equivalent of the SWATs / Navy being sent after psychos / terrorists.
  • NPC Bounty hunting parties, a bit like powerplay agents after defection.

On the other hand if you go into low security, don't expect harsh punishment for attackers, and if one goes into anarchy, well
then one is looking/asking for it :p

Think about it, right now, you can go to Sol or Archenar, murder 20-30 ships and be totally okay by moving to a nearby system. Seriously XD ?

Most people objecting to Guilds in this game are actually concerned about "ownership of space." Particularly everyone salivating over thoughts of setting up a "Guild Hall" on, say, Lave or any of the Rares circuits. Thankfully, the devs have stated that "no one will be able to 'own space' many times.

this was something that required action form the devs in EVE.

groups took areas in the outer regions of the map and kept them.

the devs installed jump gates around the outer edges of the map so that there would be back doors into these areas.
