Eh what?

I imagine Yaffle's eye is starting to twitch! <sniggers>

Don't mention snickers, its marathon, you will get Jockey started again. Oh sniggers, OK excuse me.

Cmon Jockey start the thread, do it for the children (read kittens & mods), save SOG from itself.

I'll enquire about a "no topic" thread to use as a downtime to this thread.
Still thinking for a name though.

Some ideas;

S.O.G. Restroom
The Off Topic Thread
Mr Flibble Says....
Pandora's Box
Shh, the Mods are looking....
The Troll Cave

Anyone else want to throw out an idea for a name?
Plus, do we have an "Off Topic" section of the forums? As I dare say, if we do it will have to be over there.

[Edit]

We do have an "Off Topic" section :D

No they shouldn't.

End of Line.
I came from a very PvP centric game to this one, but have been playing mostly in solo mode until very recently. And I am trying to see this from both sides. I can see pros and cons to both modes... but your post makes no sense to me. Why would you care if the 2 modes were separated if you only play PvE/solo/private?

I'm genuinely curious. I just can't see why solo mode players would give a toss.

Who said he was a Solo Mode player?

And the game was designed around the feature of Mode Switching - some people either didn't research what they were buying or didn't understand it, either way it was a core feature that was used to promote the kickstarter for which 25,000 people in good faith handed over money.

FD have also stood firm in 3 years on the topic. Supporting it, promoting it, defending it.

So, contrary to Wham's intentions, I have been going solo the last week.

CG in Haushpoos, shoot baddies. Rightio, there's HaResses nearby ... lets kick some butt in solo and make some easy money in my Combat Python.

First hostile: Anaconda, got him. Shields just barely held out, get some easy targets while shield regenerate. Second hostile Clipper, oh ... she's in a wing. With another Clipper, and an Anaconda. Right ... Right ... wave and move on. Next: Anaconda, python, python. Hi guys ... no just browsing, nothing to see. Move along. A group of Asps. I can take a group of Asps can't I? I'm in a Python. 43% hull later ... Hmmm, what are these Shield Cell contraptions I have heard so much about?

Yeah, solo is a breeze.

First off there is the cost of trying to run two different servers on the budget they have, than you have the situation of divergent storylines and the huge hassle it would be to maintain them, then there is the tweaking of ships and abilities to fix things that are overpowered and patching the two servers differently. Not to mention the time and effort being spent that could be used to make the game better.

It is one huge headache and effort all for the satisfaction of a small section of the playerbase.

Than add in player side, people switch for multiple reasons and you are penalizing them as well.

What's more, depending on how many players choose each server, those that asked for the split could very well remain unhappy anyway. Many of them seem to think that a split would result in more players in the new forced Open server than exist in the current Open but, given how similar moves fared in the past, I believe it would have the opposite effect.
