How I would love for the mega thread to be a thing of the past.
But, then what would we talk about?
Guilds don't bother me personally, I was against to start with but after 2 days reading the thread and thinking it over - I don't mind now.
I've put my thoughts on SCBs in the right thread, nothing to add to it now.
I'm looking forward to CQC, and despite not being happy over XB1 getting it first - I understand why it happened, so nothing to say about that.
I'm "meh" with Power Play - I see what FD are trying to do with it, I've done a bit, but not fussed.
The new addon needs more info before I'll comment on it - thinking of the £130, we will see after some more news on it.
I'm not going back to the STO forums - that place is weird. I dropped by last week, I've still got the headache.
Thanks for the info. AI definitely need more work on it.I don't know if/where you've been playing solo (for your knowledge) but "pirate NPCs" ask for cargo but still open up on you in 5 seconds or less. I have tried jettisoning cargo; they ignore it. If interdic'd by an NPC pirate, you're going to get shot at either way.
Before we start another urban myth about how ED is inferior to its predecessors: no, it didn't. Pirates always attacked until you (or they) are dead, there was no communication, and you couldn't jettison cargo.Pretty pathetic, IMO. Didn't the original Elite even get this right?
Okay, thanks for clearing this up.Before we start another urban myth about how ED is inferior to its predecessors: no, it didn't. Pirates always attacked until you (or they) are dead, there was no communication, and you couldn't jettison cargo.
LOL.
You should be able to out-run those.
I had no idea I can outrun several missiles while recovering from interdiction and waiting to get the heck out in a long range hauler....

You might as well be cheating. The npcs can't chase worth a damn. I've outran cobras and clippers in eagles, couriers and asps. Something that would be impossible against a human player.Yea, some people don't realise, not everyone cheats - some of us don't have super speed to outrun the speed of light in a hauler or have instant jump out.

Fair enough, I think missiles are the fastest thing in the game. I think they travel close to 500m/s. I can't seem to outrun them even in my clipper. If only limpets could take notes.Did you follow the conversation? We were talking about out running missiles - not NPCs.
The only time I cannot out run an NPC is in my T9, but then again - in that I don't need to.
Only get mass locked by Anacondas, and they play chase with heat sinks anyway, so you can get them to off while you jump.
It would be nice to see NPC ships with different configs though - NPC Cobras are slow, way way too slow.

I've never outran missiles, though I have out manouvered them with a well timed (ok, every time I've done it, it was a fluke) boost at a steep angle to them.
I thought missles got nerfed and were pretty useless now? Is that wrong?
From my very limited testing a while back - missiles work ok against NPC's once you get the shields down, and if they have no PDT. Shields up meant they were wasted. I've not had a chance to try them against players for a very long time.
If I have shields up I ignore em but if my shields are weak or down.. I run and hope.. sometimes I make it sometimes nope
Well last night I died to an NPC for the 1st sime since gamma. The reason I enjoy solo/group is I can ignore shield cells, personally - and I am only speaking for myself here - I do not like em, so i try not to use em - ship depending! (something which I would not chance in open)...... however I took on a kill mission in my python which turned out to be an elite anaconda.I had him down to 30% hull when my shields dropped, and decided to hell with it I could take him.... wrong!. He disabled my entire system whilst I was still at 60% and by the time I rebooted I was in single figures with no chance.
under a hail of lasers and missiles I blew up losing 270 (Imperial) slaves along the way.
great fun and not a human in sight. Sure I could Sheild cell up the wazoo and these missions would be easy but by choosing not to do that the game is still fully playable, whilst offering some risk (SSSs are really tough with no help from wing men either). Maybe I just do not have the l33t skills to be able to take out elite anacondas with wingmen on my own whilst choosing not to use SCBs but it really is irrelavant to me. but my point is, for me the game is still great fun without the risk of running into people I find obnxious or in battles where I have zero chance of winning and zero chance of escape.
fantastic stuff!.
(I did however rearm and went back.... 2nd time lucky however even then it was with a canopy breach..... still at over 60% hull too... the elite AIs do seem to target subsystems now, either that or he got v lucky.
thank goodness I had spent a bit on life support)
imo the game is as hard or as easy as you want to make it and there is nothing wrong with that.
