Have fun telling that to the players who backed the game based on a promise of an offline solo mode, and were compromised with on an online solo mode.

3 letters : DRM
Nothing else. They got buttd, i guess they have right to be angry.

One dimensional pew pew request thread...
I'm outta here.

I don't even PVP. I just don't want to pay insurance. You are SO WRONG.

Simple solution to fix boredom in this game. Remove credits out of the equation, why do we have to even have insurance? Why not choose respawn in 60 minutes with no cost, 30 minutes 1% insurance, 15minutes 2.5% insurance and instant 5% insurance (normal cost).

Give open play as the only mode and people won't be losing money and you won't have endless suicidal respawners. Very simple. Or you could mine stuff and store it in station storage so you can rebuild broken ship faster or cheaper. Give us more ways to play not more ways to pay!

You can spice things out a bit more, let's say add 1 hour for every 1M of insurance cost you have to pay. While you wait why not just jump into another one of your ship parked in same station you'd respawn to fly that one till you wait? This game can get fun for everyone.

You have your conda broken and waiting 24+hours? Reduce timer by mining or scavenging for parts by pirating ships boarding and stealing components. Isn't that more fun that just paying like some bloke? Dying should not be hit on your wallet but sets of events that can even be fun.

Out of ships and not enough cash to speed up repairs? Have free sidewinder meanwhile!

Yeah, and after that, they can add a coin slot.

Game isn't boring, have played almost nothing else since December, don't have an anaconda because I enjoy building my money up doing fun things like combat

I enjoy the thrill that I might be killed, but I know when to retreat and how to escape easily most of the time, I've died twice in the last 4 months, once due to my thrusters malfunctioned and I crashed and the other to a player

Im not exactly the best pilot out there, the last thing this game needs is more "dumbing" down for those not wanting to take risks, it's called Elite: Dangerous for a reason and it's not gonna change

Sorry to say that, OP:
This idea is just stupid. You are trying to force your ideas of gameplay unto others in the hope to mitigate YOUR boredom, ignoring that people are already enjoying this game as it is. Not going to happen.

Open play = risk = fun
Solo play = no fun
Stop hiding in solo play then, playing in solo = no insurance

Waiting 10 hours for ship repair is kinda risky too, you won't be able to play for a long time if you die. Unless you pick alternative.

Why do you think that everyone else should have the same ideas of what IS & ISN'T fun as you do?

What's your problem?

Play the game as YOU want & let others play how THEY want!

I think OP wants Quake in space.... oh, wait a minute... CQC! OPs problem is resolved. /therad.

Let the rest of play Elite the way it was designed.

You mean the singleplayer game we all pledged for in the kickstarter with tacked on multiplayer support and which then got a DRM due to the world simulation not being able to function on not-online computers?

I would have liked that game.

This post is 100% non-factual. You also assume that NPCs cannot provide risk. Another false statement. I've been killed by NPCs a few times.

How? Did you AFK somewhere?

Not to mention there is NO world simulation.

Then don't. Free sidewinder is always an option.

And lose few 100Ms? Nope.

You're just sitting on your own capsuled viewpoint, looking for new targets to shoot at. OK, its fine.
But there are so many commanders who don't like being your target and therefore take their decisions. That's perfectly fine too.
My recommendation is go for Lave Cluster. Maybe there are the things you want.

But If you want me, you have to play seek and hide. I am in open and my last known position was 557 ly out of Satalanya.

Its a huge galaxy, you know. If you look at basic math you find 400000000000 stars for 1000000 = 40000 stars for each player...
Its cool.

Miklos

I just don't want to pay insurance.

Sounds to me like what you want is something more akin to CQC - something a little more arcade than sim. You don't want to pay insurance so it sounds like you are more interested in pew pew then you are in trading and exploration. Nothing wrong with that... you want action and don't want to have to engage in the more tedious activities in Elite: Dangerous that are required to build a hefty bank balance that allows you to not only own the ship you are flying but to pay the insurance when things go sideways.

CQC should go a long way toward creating the kind of environment you are looking for. Perhaps if enough players ask for it Frontier will release a CQC-type environment that utilizes the larger, more powerful ships instead of the smaller fighters used in the current CQC modes.

You do, of course, understand that many of us don't want to play this kind of game though, right? I like the game mechanics (insurance and all) just the way they are.

LOL, nope. Excluding back when i started, the new improved AI that came with 1.3 has made things trickier. I had to stop bounty hunting in my Orca because it became a lot harder to take down the better NPCs.

The Vulture of course makes things a lot easier, and while i jokingly call it god mode, I have almost died on a few occasions and on one occasion i did get greedy, stayed in a battle too long, and got killed. Was against two Deadly Anacondas in a wing though, so cut me some slack.

But the main thing you seem to be missing is different people have different levels of skill. Someone who isn't so great at combat will definitely find NPCs a challenge, especially the higher ranked ones. For them, that's enough. Against a competent player they would stand no chance. Having no chance against an opponent is not fun in case you haven't noticed.

I don't know anything about you personally, but just imagine you are a fat person who isn't very good at sports. Imagine you are with some friends and deciding what to play. You want to play Counterstrike, as you are really good at it. But all your friends say no, they want to play chase and you must play it with them.

So, within a minute, you have been caught, and now have to chase them. But you can't catch any of them, because you are too fat and unfit.

You decide you don't want to play that game anymore, but they say you must play their game. That playing chase is a great game and the best game to play. How can anyone not want to play it?

Do you see the analogy here?

Try moving on from 1984!

I dont like pewpew at all, so i play my own style. Im enjoying the game not bleating on about how BORING it is!
