Because solo will be kill open. If open will die, then game will be die - it's sad but it's truth. :(

The three game modes have existed in the stated game design, along with the shared galaxy and mode switching since the very beginning of the Kickstarter, over two and a half years ago.

Players on the XBox One and PS4 will share the same galaxy - you will not be able to directly oppose them either.

Players with whom you share poor ping times will not appear in your instance - you will not be able to directly oppose them either.

Players in different time zones will play at different times of day - you will not be able to directly oppose them either.

The existence of Solo was used to placate the Backers who were disappointed (or worse) at the cancellation of Offline mode - it is extremely unlikely to be removed.

In the XBox One announcement, DBOBE stated that XBox One players will share the same galaxy state - the game mode are therefore extremely unlikely to have separate galatic background simulations.

This debate has been going on for over two and a half years - Frontier has not changed their stance on the three modes, the shared galactic background simulation or mode switching. The game was released six months ago with these features intact. I doubt that they will be changed now.

This will die, that will die. Except for this thread. This thread will never die.

Me and Einstein are sure of this, we're not sure the universe is infinite, but we are sure there always will be takers for this thread.

Having lurked here and the old thread too, I really think it deserves an award. So I am pleased to provide one.

I wonder if any one from either side has actually been convinced by the opposing side in this thread or if this is just one big broad-side fight.

Heres an idea, get rid of Open/Solo and just use groups. Then players will have control of banning/invites. If you want a peaceful place go to an all exploration group. If you want to PVP and play the game as though it were open go to a large population open group (that wouldnt have any hacking or greifing becuase unlike FDev players can ban people from their group)

I mean really, the instancing in this game means that Open isnt really Open any way. Might as well just use player servers.

I dont really want to be apart of this debate so I'm going to leave this thread and never look back ^__^

.... but that's what we have already, sort of: Solo = Private Group of one; Private Groups are Private Groups; Open = Private Group with no access restrictions.

The simple truth is that the three game modes are simply different settings of the matchmaking system.

Oh, the galaxy is a rather large database - I would not expect that it is easily transportable to player run servers (even if Frontier were to offer that, which they don't).

I can see how in the far Future an Alien Race finds Earth and whats left after Humanity died - and then they spend years upon years to find out what those People talked about in that Thread :D

As Robert Maynard says, that's pretty much what we have now.

The reason it doesn't work and some people complain, is that some people don't want an equal group, they want a group where they can be the alpha predators, and they would only admit players they considered as prey to join their group. I don't think there are that many players who consider themselves only as prey.

It is simple, if you are not a PVPer and in Open, your prey...

The issue is some, like tranquil eternity, want to force people into that and feel that their game play trumps everyone else.

If the incentives were there for some sweet cash I would totaly risk being the prey. It's gotta pay good though. I'll totaly dump my cargo at the first sign of trouble.

Actually I've been trading in Open quite a bit and never meet anyone, but then again I kinda know where the unsavory folk hang about.
