American Bacon. That's a very important distinction.
This is exactly correct. Please do take it as a compliment, I do want to play with you nice folk. That's all I'm askin. I hear that you all say you want to play alone(Mobius?) or that you're really REALLY not scared of player-pirates (comes up a lot with soloers.....odd). I also hear you don't like candy, but you love vinegar. You like taking people to the water and hope they drink to koolaid.... I mean.... punch.... er.... (its safe I promise).
So let me sum up my debate, and only my debate. I just want to play nice with you nice folk. I'm the kid outside on the warm summer day, knocking on your door wanting to play at the park, but the park is empty so I came here to 'your house' to see if you wanted to play. That is all. I'll go play in the park by myself. maybe another day(update) we'll play together, at the park, in the sun, nice like....
I think segregation of bacon is a very dangerous path to go down.

Simple. Many of us researched it beforehand and bought a single player game instead of an MMO. A fantastic single player I might add. Save for Thargoids, it replicates the original game with advanced graphics and sound perfectly, which is exactly what I wanted.
Now about those thargoids....
Bacon switching can't go on. It's ruining breakfast.I think segregation of bacon is a very dangerous path to go down.
I'm with you on this one.
But there are many players in the game (and here in the thread) that wouldn't even bother with NPC piracy.
They want PvP piracy (and like i said before, i can even understand that).
I just wanted to say that this won't work as a profession.
Some have Hafnium, some have Unknown Artefacts. But yes, more and better NPCs of all types/roles is something for everyone.
maybe FD could create NPC convoys?.
4 vultures 2 anaconda's 2 FDL's and a type 9... (or variants)
get stuck into that instead of a wing of 4 going after 1 ship
This ^^
I did try piracy vs NPCs for a few days and made nothing until I found a "Seeking Luxuries" with 3 Type 9s that had some half decent stuff in them.
Also, the prices for black market goods is awful ( <- forums won't let me use the words I want to here).
As far as I can see, piracy is the only profession in ED that cannot be subsidised via NPC interactions between PvP encounters.
It is a shame though, that some open advocates feel the need to come here and be insulting and name calling, as it is drowning out your points and hard work here Distance.
(and I know some Solo/Group advocates are no better, but they seem to have gotten bored of the discussion and left from what I can see - thankfully)
I remember you distinguishing between 'real' pirates, as those who don't pay their fines, and the type who pay their fines but still call themselves pirates (forgive me if I've misquoted, it was a while back) - disregarding how difficult it is to be a pirate for a moment, do you think it would work if there was some kind of, three strikes and out system? I.e., if you kill three clean players you remain wanted, so that you either continue your career as a fugitive (with say, a starting bounty of 20,000, which would remain when you respawn after dying) or if you feel that passionately about being a 'clean' player, you 'clear save' and start again. Might seem a bit harsh, but it would make people think carefully before shooting that third 'clean' ship. I say this with view to making piracy viable in the game - making improvements to the pirate role (perhaps better cargo scoops, rewards for shooting down 'security' ships that match the equivalent bounties on pirates, buy yeah, tricky stuff I know)
Oh, this was the solo v open thread? Er...Napoloeon Solo?...Han Solo?...I'll get my coat :/

.... but it allows you to try different types of bacon while at the same time guaranteeing that you can revert to a known type at a moments notice.![]()
I prefer to use the term "dropping bacon" when in a wing![]()

You and I see dropping bacon very differently. To me it represents a large abundant amount of rear end wind.
I think you'll find that's an unintended side effect of an intended in game mechanic![]()
i don't have bacon for breakfast, so i won't step in here...
If you want to limited yourself to only having bacon for breakfast then you have no-one else to blame.![]()
I've never played solo, kind of feels like cheating.
Open seems relatively safe to me?
My daughter has vegetarian bacon (or as I like to call it, Soylent Brownish). I think that equates to being a very select Group...
