Don't presume to know my motivations. I don't care about solo or group unless it effects me. If there were 2 seperate bgs I wouldn't even care about this.

When Offline mode was cancelled, part of the justification for doing so was the shared background simulation, the evolving galaxy that all players will experience.

Michael was pretty succinct when asked about separating off Solo and Private Groups:

Will at any time solo and private group play be separated into a different universe/database from open play? It's kind of cheap that you can be safe from many things in solo, like player blockades and so on, and still affect the same universe.

No.

Michael

The poostorm that followed the cancellation of offline mode proves that you are wrong.

Doesnt matter. There will be always a storm if something is removed that people actually want. Remove wings or chat and you will see the reaction.

This game is advertised as MMO with an optional singleplayer (online only!) and has PvP inside. What do you think how many people got this game for the full price and expect it to actually be JUST THAT, what they paid for?
Look at the angry reviews on steam. 543 negative reviews, most of them are just the same - not enough action. This is not a small amount of people, something around 20% of all reviews on steam.
Yeah maybe some of them got the game without looking deep into it, but when i see something called MMO and multiplayer + PvP inside, i expect just that. A game where i can jump in and kick behinds without grinding for 500+ hours and then spending an hour to get an opponent who is actually willing to fight.

and u try to put ur case on angry reviews share the positive though or that isnt infavor for ur holy crusade?

They don't balance each other, because they aren't equal in number. Some sides will have more open and others more solo players.

Prove this !

Show me YOUR numbers.

Evidence ?

Because the guy WITH the information, said it is balanced - so in effect, you are calling DBOBE a liar and without any shred of evidence to support that claim.

It could also be argued that it is advertised as a single player game with an optional multi-player and MMO component.

The galaxy is just too big to guarantee that opponents will be found to engage in combat.

I notice that what matters to others but does not suit a particular play-style is very quick to be demanded to be "sacrificed" to suit that play-style with no thought given to those who would be inconvenienced (or worse) by the proposed change....

Also, 543 is not that many, really, when we consider how many players must have bought through Steam.

There are a lot of positive reviews too. And the negative review on Steam that has garnered the most attention is one made by a player who has put over 500 hours into the game - he/she has had his/her moneysworth I'd say.

It's worth considering that the nature of the game (a space sim) isn't going to have the universal appeal of something like, for example, GTA or similar game. Trying to appeal to 100% of gamers with this isn't going to be a worthwhile endeavour.

I mean compared to positive reviews. 2262 positive, 543 negative, about 20%. I dont know what other people think about it if they dont say it. Yeah there are worst games on steam, but there are games with over 90% positive reviews.
I have a positive review there, but i still expect this game to evolve quickly to suit the needs of different groups of players in the game, pumping out new content pretty fast. But so far any ideas that actually are perfect for PvP, are crippled by the game mechanics. PP would be so good if it was multiplayer and PvP only, people would actually FIGHT for power.

Its not about the galaxy size. Most people actually sit in the populated area that is pretty small - trading, doing missions or desperatly seeking for something to shoot at.

Players in different instances in the same place in Open are not necessarily on even grounds. Players who play at different times of day in Open are not necessarily on even grounds. Who's to say that console players in Open will be on even grounds?
They won't be on exactly even grounds but it will be closer than solo and open now.

I was not saying it will actually even happen, I was just saying if it did I would be happy and would consider the modes balanced. Despite what everyone thinks not every open players is trying to force solo players in some kind of slaughter house or something.

As FuzzySpider said, if you spend 500 hours playing a game you don't like, then you have a problem.
I would expect the number of happy players to be far higher than shown. People are more vocal when they want to moan than they are when they are happy.

and still other posts some of u too indicates the opposite ....

I would like to see some stats about how many Solo/Group players is playing v.s. the number of Open players. I bet that 80% players are Solo players.

Those stats would be a bit meaningless though without some long-term trending and analysis. You can't, for example, just look at the total of players and call a percentage, as 100% of players who have ever logged in and played open were still in Solo until their first jump. Players can be in any mode they please at any time, so you can't just say Player X is purely Open, as he may well likely switch to Solo when network or instancing goes wonky, just to continue playing. You can't say Player Y is Solo only, because he may switch to Open when he feels like it, just you never find him.

Of course I had in my mind things like averages, medians and similar statistical stuff. Just the information in style "Now, 83.74827% of players is playing Solo" is useless.

What I tried to say is that IMHO the PvP crowd is an absolute non-factor when it comes to the total amount of players. So, those rants that "... ideas that actually are perfect for PvP, are crippled by the game mechanics ..." are a bit irelevant. Elite always is and (at least I hope so) will be solo game in it's basic mechanics.

Really, because the non-slaughter house version of ED is known as Mobius and I don't see those members moaning about "interactions".

In fact, the only difference between Mobius and Open is the slaughter house.... hmmmm, funny that.
