You are preaching, not debating.

The game IS balanced and fair, since everyone has the same options.
You want the benefits of open game and limit my game just because you don't accept the drawbacks of your choice.

No. It has already been established that you can't contribute the same amount in open towards dueling combat community goals than those in solo.

Always hearing about players going SOLO to earn easy credits and then going back to OPEN with a kitted Ana. How would you feel if it was like SC they just released two new ships to celebrate their major update. They only cost $275-Retaliator/ $90-Gladius. That's real cash I'm talking about.

Are players actually buying them

So?

I play solo... yet i like PvP fighting.
Should i demand a "looking for fight" option that allows me to avoid everyone and yet get a fight if i want to?
No, i have to accept the drawback of solo game for me.

See, i agreed to your argument some time ago. I even tried to push the discussion into a direction that might lead to a compromise. It wasn't accepted, open fraction continued with the "because i say so" argumentation... which doesn't work for me and a lot of people in here since 30 or 40 years ago.

So, no. No limitations of my game in any regard.
Your choice to play open and face the drawbacks. No sympathy from me anymore.

(1) So... your statement is literally incorrect. (And you just admitted it in your second to last sentence "play open and face the drawbacks")

(2) I'm fine with a compromise. Just because you can find someone who is rigid doesn't mean you can apply that to everyone. I have yet to suggest any solution in here, and have purposely and publicly avoided it because people like to put words in their opponents mouth. As I have said nothing it should be brutally apparent you are doing this yet here we are.

(3) You are not only putting other peoples words in my mouth, but you are using the same argument style you criticize the "open fraction" of using. You just effectively said compromises.

1) Why?

2) I'd like to hear a good idea. Yet i'm really fed up with this.

3) Yes, i do. Since noone is really listening to each other this is just about appearing more vocal. But don't worry, i'll get tired of this soon.

Stick to solo, you'll be safe there little wabbit. ;)

The psycopath inside you is coming out again i see, you have to acceeot all this unfairness thing just fall on getting more targets to kill to fill that adrenalince rush of knowing you blow up a person tsk tsk tsk, you need help.

They said that about Star Trek Online - 5 years later, still going......
I was dead certain the whole lockbox fiasco would kill off STO deader than the Tkon Empire. Instead, it's still running, released a paid expansion, continuing to get named talent to do VO work... I don't know weather to be happy or grumbly. =)

That's because their funding model is different. :) I had dismissed that title out of hand, precisely because of the prices, but recently discovered that's only for people who want the option of directly contributing to the development. The finished title will apparently have all ships for in-game credit purchase, just like ED does.

With ED, it's essentially been released and is getting more refined along the way. It looks like SC is still effectively in limited beta-release, but with greater direct financial input for people who believe in the product's end goal.

Both models are valid. I'd like both to succeed, because accessible space/flight combat simulators have been in limbo for ages and competition breeds invention. Eventually, I might even get SC, too (if for no other reason than it looks like it'll implement a proper military career, whereas ED seemingly won't). Right now, I like ED's attempt at realism and am very interested to see how it will go about stuff like atmospheric flight/landings.

Also, I kind of like SC's ship designs a little more... At least, until the Federal Corvette is finally here. ;)

I agree. I wish this would expand to games like Descent......etc

And that is the price you pay for playing in a social environment, something you choose to do.
Those doing the same in solo, miss out on local chat and interactions with others, that is their payment for choosing solo mode.

Both sides have lost out on something to partake in the way the player wants, so why should the rewards change after you've paid your price?
It's like a bookie saying you own them extra after your horse comes in first, you backed your horse, you paid your bet + taxes, the bookie does not get a second bite at your reward.

Solo, Group and Open all have ups and downs for each aspect of the game.

I lost count of the things that would "kill the game" from Beta and onwards.

The lack of 2 real factions,
Atari being in charge,
PWE being in charge,
Lockboxes,
Cash shop in a sub based game,
Cash shop in a free to play game,
Change of leadership (that they do every 18 months),
Lack of PvP

This game is no different, the PvP crowd whine and moan for more targets, more rewards, more, more, more - they got what they want in EVE, stomped out in STO ~ 2 ends of the spectrum.

Lets hope FD aim for in the middle of that spectrum.

Can say what you want about Solo and Group being unfair to Open, but there are two things I will mention about it:

1. Everyone can do it, so whatever advantages are in solo/group they can be yours too.
2. Open is too damn laggy.

Always hearing about players going SOLO to earn easy credits and then going back to OPEN with a kitted Ana. How would you feel if it was like SC they just released two new ships to celebrate their major update. They only cost $275-Retaliator/ $90-Gladius. That's real cash I'm talking about.

Which is completely optional and no one is forcing anyone to spend that money to have access to the game. Plus they've not released 2 new ships as you put it; the Retaliator went on sale during the KS phase and the Gladius has been available to buy for a few months now. The first is hangar ready so they released it for sale for a limited time to allow people who want to support the game and have the cash the opportunity to get one and the Gladius is now flight ready and nothing has changed sales wise on that ship compared to before the patch was released. Players will be able to earn both ships in game after release and can temporarily earn the Gladius now with the REC system that has been implemented.

Yep im quite disgusted with the way SC is heading now ,backed it at KS ,still no game but bringing out new ships for sale every month :(
Just found out its P2P/HTTP as well I wonder how that will work out

That's a switched off feature in the launcher that does not work (remember something about patent issues being the reason why it's not enabled), and designed for downloading patches. It's not for connecting to the game server. They are using a central "universe server" and Google compute for that side and have a very different network implementation to ED.

In terms of no release yet, the whole project is fundamentally different in scope compared to what they were planning during the KS phase. They've gone for a very different approach to ED , as they want the full release to be pretty much feature complete unlike ED who have released a very solid foundation and then are continuing to flesh it out post release. Both have their benefits and drawbacks, but until planetary landings and the ability to get out of my pilot chair and exit the ship are implemented in ED I will consider it as a game still in beta.
