I don't know this case, but in general where ever you work there are colleages down talking your boss the company. Because I know my boss from professional perspective. i know he not perfect. But there are some workers who are the problem them selfs.
And some point they are right on but most not. I do know some bad bosses who are really bad. Treating there workers with disrespect. So it there wordt vs his word. And truth is somewhere in the middle. How ever if boss is bad to workers does mean the company does not deliver. It means it not a happy culture there. But often work is be done.

Also there are more public soaps about how bad it can be at game studio. The game industry is no fun place. It one of the harshes places to work. There are exception. A very un common company culture is Valve. But on evarage I would not work in such stress full overworking branch.

What do know is that there are lot of negative squad making there hobby down talking SC that from there , CIG would be crash already 2014 from mountain of there negativity. I observe that there negativity silence a week or two when CiG deliver there next public drop. And then they start again. And I do believe that lot of studio are not a fun place to work. Because every where you work there are a lot of bad bosses and bad co workers which get the fun out of it. But it about the game can they deliver. Not if there studio is the next Valve. The big exception in the game industry.
Also as CiG uses a few studios and some outsourcing its production with many studio cultures. So the other might be good place where other is hell.
I hope this doesnt distract CR to much from making the game.
So don't go read all that which hunt crap from the anti CiG lobby.

It's been repeatedly said they're going to show something significant from SQ42 at CitizenCon. CR even mentions it in the letter you just read.

I'm pretty sure they're going to show things from all modules. They have to.

After all this, I am pretty sure that everything will stop in this entire development and the only focus will be entirely in this new tech demos/trailers, whatever that they will try to show to delude people about progress.
Probably, for the sake to calm the nerves, they can even come with a magic date, that 1st chapter is coming this year... and then... near of the date... you know the drill... ;)

And he also will reveal the cast. It was obvious, but he told that in one of his answers now to The Escapist.

Oh man, I would love to see some of those mails, here's hoping they get leaked. :)

I have one :D
Not those emails. But one that, knowing the context, pretty much demonstrates the same that some of those employees were talking about.

Wife didn't take my name...Its her name, she has to live with it, so why should she have to take mine?

Unofficially she uses my surname among family but in her professional career she has every right to use her own.

I imagine Sandi's reasons are the same, especially since she has an established public career.

EDIT: NVM, didn't realize she is listed as a Roberts on IMDb...they are definitely trying to obfuscate that either for CIG employees or SC backers

As her resume. Don't know if you people missed, but she tried to claim to have what it takes for the job, showing a Health Degree lol

Hmm, there are two interpretations that come to mind. 1) everything is made up by detractors; 2) there is some substantial truth to the allegations.

One thing to watch out for will be the cast list for SQ42. If it is truly epic then that's unwise spending of funds any way

Hrm, there is ultimately no way to tell if or if not this will work out we will see how the the next big update turns out.

And lets be honest here, the scope of star citizen, all the things they want to work at launch is gigantic, especially since they want it to be a package deal, rather then building ontop of a foundation like Elite is doing, I highly doubt anyone truly expected the game not to get delayed.

Or it could simply be there is already another Sandi Gardener in whatever is the US equivalent of the Equity actors organisation in the UK - Is it the Actor's Guild in the US?. Rules are that all actor's screen names must be unique.
I have not checked, I do not know - but that is a plausible and real reason for the surname differences. Just looking for a non-conspiracy reason, before going down that road.

Does anybody else find it a little worrying that staff are leaving CIG, i know CR claims this is normal for a big company, but together with claims of discontent i find it a little telling, so far i have found the staff mentioned as having left or let go. Also i find it strange that Ben once denied Sandi was CR's wife, (reportedly on a SC forum thread) and it turns out to be true, why hide things like that.
David Jennison
Alyssa Delhotal
James Pugh
Lisa Ohanian
Paul Forgy
and these more high profile members
Alex Mayberry
Travis Day and Chelsea.

Seems to be quite a few over the last few months.

But also in SC defence, Derek Smart is on a pure vendetta against CR, so find it hard to believe much of what he says.

It's really quite sad to see the "press" stoop so low. It was always going to happen because YouTube is killing the written word but now they are all just queuing up to print as much clickbait and troll before it finally dies.

I got out of that asap a couple of years ago when it became clear how it was going to end up. There is simply nothing worth reading in the tech press any longer. You could literally be the best journalist on the planet but your awesome articles would be buried under a mountain of this crap. The popular ones are only surviving due to ad revenue from companies of the products they're supposed to be doing honest reviews on...

Assuming you're referring to the Forbes article, if so what's wrong with it?

It's reporting what's going on, this should be reported on, the story is huge.

The $90 million aside.. On one hand you have CIG telling one story and asking for horrendous amounts of money on faith, on the other you seem to have ex-employees urging people not to hand over any cash.

A good and fairly unbiased article, in fact i just linked this to my SC org page.

And from the Forbes article:
"The Escapist writes that “several different sources” (who were asked independently) insist the developer only has $8 million remaining, and that that fact is common knowledge inside CIG. “They’ve spent $82 million dollars, and what is there to show for that? There’s a demo, a racing demo, a single first person shooter level, and an area where you can walk around. For $82 million,” said one of the informants, who did not request to remain anonymous but whose identity is being protected by the outlet. Further, these multiple sources suggest this is why Roberts and company continue to take pledges via their website. And what about so many of those digital products being sold with grossly high price tags? They claim the majority of them don’t exist."

This is what has me worried if true.

That was a very good read actually.
Nice and moderate even if slughtly simplified.

I do disagree with this part though:

If it fails, faith in crowdfunding will be gone, and other games which are doing well will suffer as a result, and many ideas that can’t get a publisher will just fade away, which isn’t acceptable for me.

There's countless other crowdfunded games being developed/funded etc without being affected by anything to do with SC.
If SC fails that doesn't mean it's because of crowdfunding, it will solely be CR's fault.

Aye yes, and what does it add to the game? In fact for my mind sticking a known actor in the role just detracts.

Though in fairness Wing Commander has history of using famous actors, I wouldn't be surprised if it's some stellar line-up.

I agree that part sounds overly catastrophic. If SC flops, it certainly won't be the end of the world croudfunding. Many projects failed to deliver, SC would just earn the title of the biggest single fail thus far. Then we move on.

As a side note, I don't know whether should I laugh or frown upon all this soap drama. I have no idea what is going on in the company, nor am I interested to know (I'd just like to see the damn thing finished and released), but what I'll dare to guess is that if the situation in CIG was all good and healthy, these kind of rumors should not upset Chris, nor send so much ripples across the community.

I backed Star Citizen but watching all this erupt is far more entertaining than Arena Commander. I wish CR luck in getting his game out but there is just so much crap going about that some of it must be true. The Star Citizen sub-reddit has went on full defence mode, noticed they don't even have the 'controversial' tab anymore. Another member has claimed he's found the 'sources' from the Escapist article, and that all the stuff cited in the articles was taken directly from Glass Door reviews. Time will tell if this is the case but the subreddedit is circlejerking pretty hard over their discovery. I'd have thought whoever wrote the article would have more sense than to rip offf stuff directly from an easily searchable source like Glassdoor.

Totally ruined the Joker in Batman...and other voice acted games
Now who voiced the Joker mmm

Reddit mods are independent? Wouldn't surprise me if they've been flown out to SC land and been given the tour and free merchandise treatment.

Time will tell? I mean you only have to look at the Escapist article and the GD page. It's as easy as ctrl + f.

*shrugs* I took the time to check, the comments I checked did not seem to be in the Escapist article.
