Ah, but if you work hard, keep your nose clean, you'll soon be up the ziggurat, lickety-split!

Thats the dream.

Then one day with the creds I save I will achieve my SC dream of running a dockyard workers union, plying my trade with a 'loader on the docks.

I know we can't judge the whole SC community from the comments of a few, but this seems pretty typical for /r/sc

Guy announces he is selling up. In the comments reveals he has cancer and won't likely live 2 more years.

Check the responses.

Absoloutely sickening.

Reminds of the time there was an expedition in the game for someone dying of cancer and someone else attacked and disabled the end goal destination of the expedition. It was a station named after the dude who was sick.

Oh wait, that was a different space game. Maybe there are just people who suck everywhere.

But there was the late Jeffrey McArthur, who was treated similarly by the SC community a few years ago.

Let's not play the "which game has the biggest s in their community" game again, perleeeeeeease!

As Sovapid said, there are "persons of questionable parentage" in every community.

And as much as the responses are awful, so many people over time have gone in and trolled that sub, it is understandable, if not excusable, that some of the resident under-bridge dwellers bite back.

Now, after that PSA, where is the Roadmap to the BMM?!! Answer the Call, 2025 mebbe?

In other news, another PTU. 3.4.3 this time...

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/...r-citizen-alpha-3-4-3-ptu-1047992-patch-notes

And because I'm a big jerk, I'm posting the all the patch notes without any spoiler tags!

*Fixed 2 prominent client crashes.

I think I will wait that patch when CIG finally make changes on 300 series ships or do new Flight Mechanics.......even if I do have the game installed(played 3.4.1. last time)I just do not see any point anymore flying with this horrible FM and waking up and walking around over&over again until I glitch somewhere in the wall or ship texture....at this point all of that become really....really BORING!!!

Which is why i didd say you can't judge a community by a few, and yes, that was also deplorable.

I hesitate to mention it...but the expurgated version of the subreddit post you included does exactly that, namely pass judgement on an entire community through exception and via the inference, suggest it's the norm.

It's like including a picture of 'Mr Rabbit with the plastic gun' guy when quoting one of my posts and then imagining me playing SC dressed like that...(Now I'll never be able to bleach that image from my mind) [where is it]

I could recite countless examples of the community I've met playing SC being just plain ordinary and/or empathic...but that's not playing to an audience as much as pointing out a few retards on the reddit asylum, is it? ;)

The latter part of your sentence says:

looks like a judgement to me.

Because /r/sc isn't reflective of the whole community.

Also, my personal experience from posting there was one of constant personal attacks and failing to discuss the actual topic.

Good reddit post on the accuracy of the Star Citizen roadmap:

https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/ais739/no_bamboozles_2019_roadmap_edition/

What is delivered vs how far out on the road map an entry is.

86% of the current release was delivered as planned.

47% of the next quarter's release was delivered as planned.

39% of the 2nd quarter after next was delivered as planned.

29% of the 3rd quarter after next was delivered as planned.

and why I don't really put much weight in what is on the road map 6+ months out.

Saw you in the concierge chat the other day!

o7 fellow admiral!

Back to being Zaphod there, btw.

Playing with the Matadors now.

It's great when everyone can pull together, but so hard to keep a crew focused at JT.

Clearly this was a hit piece by the ED mod team. Notice the patch on the hat.

Remind you of anyone?

Did you actually take this photo AA?

;)

I think the simpler litmus test of how reliable their roadmaps are is their past history when it comes to roadmaps or sticking to their plans.

People point to the roadmap and say "look, they now have a roadmap, we can trust it!" and yet, they gave a roadmap at Citizencon 2016, and look what happened to that.

EDIT: Interesting to note how much the "gameplay" entries get pushed back. This is pretty bad since one of the major crticisms of SC is how they spend too much time focusing on fluff and not enough on adding gameplay.

The OP makes a good point in the comments about how CIG should stop trying to predict a year ahead. I agree as its clear CIG are terribad with their estimates. I see why CIG do it, they need to keep dangling the carrot, but the more they fail to deliver the worse they look. One step at a time might be best.

I'm just amazing nobody in the comments came out with the "CIG have to give agressive estimats to motivate the devs" tripe.

Now, here is a pertinent question.

I wonder if the same will hold true for the squadron 42 roadmap. I would think the content part would require different data for predicting while the features would be similar to the persistent universe. Priority might make the squadron 42 schedule less fluid though.

While of course we need to wait and see how it pans out, i think the smart money would be on slippage there as well, so the 2020 beta date is very probably going to slip and slip and slip.

Yeah, but with the current track record, 80-90% of what they say will be in 3.5 is probably going to be in 3.5 at this point. Although they have been hinting at big roadmap shake ups coming soon. We shall see.

Some of that is due to stuff moving out and other stuff moving in. Back last February (or whenever the roadmap started) probably 0% of the gameplay items they said would be in 3.4 actually made it into 3.4. But 3.4 still had gameplay items, just different ones. You could make the argument that the "new" gameplay items weren't as good/big/important as the ones that got pushed out though.

Very cool. Don't think we have gone through this before, but add me in game. "sovapid" over there too. You Zaphod_Hawke with an underscore? ZaphodHawke all run together?

Although Matadors, might help me avoid the server if I'm doing solo JT runs.... :)

Bunch of the old school SDC guys are playing SC now too. Sundae, InAbsentia etc

3.5 can't get here soon enough, ready for the new flight model to start really doing more combat.

Percentages are almost pointless since they keep cramming in aesthetic nonsense like beer physics and client-side FOIP instead of finishing up OCS tasks or implementing the new flight model.
