There's an awful lot to digest from the last couple of days here. When all is said and done the least memorable part of all of this for me will be the hours of streams I sat and watched...

The 'ecosystem' that Sleut talks about there is a superb observation. That backers put money toward not only CIG but those promoting CIG is something I hadn't really thought about until these lawyer videos popped up.

Even when Charles Ponzi was in jail, people kept sending him their money to invest when he got out. They don't want to appear to have failed. Very strange behaviour.

Meh - I’d redo the whole Squadrons of Swing, but I’ve given up doing songs here :D

The financials are certainly interesting, as is the note that Oughtawin has changed something in the organization.

It's reassuring that Chris has roughly 8 times the next biggest single shareholder - even Ortwin.

From Aqua Seafoam Shame on SA

Here's a fun discovery: add up the shares transferred by Chris, Erin, and Ortwin, and you get 18,500. That's the exact number of shares that belong to "Infratrade Group Corporation", an entity that does not come up on any Google search. Huh.

I've noticed it, strangely enough, completely outside of anything SC related. I am a bit of a synthesizer nerd, and in this niche there is a growing trend of 'synth reviewers' on youtube. They dont really review it in a proper sense, nor are many capable of creating anything musical. But they press buttons, show blinking lights, and use catchphrases that always work. ("This filter sounds fat!" "very warm sounding oscillators, typical of [whatever]" "there are no limits to what this synth can do!" "I havent felt this inspired in ages!"). This is all patreon-funded, not by people who might want to buy that synthesizer and need info, but by people who already have that synthesizer. Because it validates their purchase.

We've entered an age where echo-chambers are commercialized, and people now actively pay to have others say the stuff they already believe.

It is not really stealing though, is it. If you are willing to give me $100 to tell you you are a handsome fella, I may be skirting dangerously close to mental prostitution, but not theft.

Point of order though.

They did say all money pledged would go towards the development of the game. While i will extent that to internal marketing efforts as well as internal functions such as HR, cleaning lady, etc, i wouldn't extend that towards gifts to streamers.

For sure, on target observation, and it's long been hypothesized in the "smart" forum that CIG or the backers have some perpetual shilled effort going on to mitigate any anti-sc kool-aid comments long past the point of passive observers no longer praising the early promises of SC and now realizing the ponzi for what it is. Any more publicly exposed stream or event that somehow involves SC whether it's by comparison to ED/NMS/X4 has had a few out of nowhere shillers trying to stamp down remarks about the failings of SC. ex: the mamba trailer where many had fun about FD trolling SC "sportscar"-like trailer ads for selling .jpg ships.

Since we have a new thread I ll copy paste the post I left in the last one:

So they sold 13% equity in the company in May to 2 companies in the Caymans and a third somewhere else.

They've run out of credit. They liquidated some shares and sold equity to continue operating.

The jpeg sales aren't enough to support it. Whatever time they bought with that is the time they have to release a game.

13% in shares? I presume that is just for the UK affiliate? Still, the figure is large enough to require a public explanation by CIG, specially when they have repeatedly claimed they did not want to use investor or publisher money.

@Ben Parry

Are you able to confirm the Squadron 42 Prelude by Jan 2020? I'd heard that too, but it was 'end of 2019'

Not sure if Ben can talk about that but maybe he can also offer us the latest about Virtual Reality in SC.

I know nothing about such things, but wouldn't steps like this mean they can not use the "small company accounts" thing and have to put on their Big LTD Company Returns pants?

Disco Landrover / Genuine Roberts have been saying "we are a big international company" for years - isn't it about time they acted like it? :D

You are 'not sure' if a random CIG dev is allowed to arbitrarily announce release dates on a 'competitors' forum just because someone asked? I can upgrade that to "I know for sure he can't [...]". :D

\o/

Yay! A new thread...can't remember where I was or what we were talking about now.

It's worse than going out and returning home to find your wife has painted the hall a different colour...3 takes of looking at the front door to make sure you're in the right house :|

Presume it would also depend on the valuation total? I mean 13% of a very small amount, would still be a very small amount...
