The Star Citizen Thread v8

I have absolutely no idea. That domain was registered back in 2007 and expires in 2021. Maybe it's something to do with a deal about using a name someone else owns - Star Citizen the Game can use the name as long as they promote Star Citizen the Toaster Seller. It's just all a bit weird.

Found it on Facebook. This is a company called Star Citizen Corp, that sells household goods from the address the domain is registered to, and who used to employ someone with the name of the registrant. They actually have two Facebook pages:

https://www.facebook.com/StarCitizen-963887816977205/
https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100009242816721

So these guys are legal registrants of starcitizen.com, which may be why the RSI website uses https://robertsspaceindustries.com/. No idea why the certificate points to the Star Citizen domain though.

This has now been deleted from Spectrum.....

I find such posts rather odd really. The indignation would be what I would expect if there were such issues in a released game. But SC is not released, it's not even in beta.....it's alpha.....I find it odd to be imposing expectations one would have of a released game on an alpha stage.....

But on the other hand I can easily understand such indignation.....I am similarly frustrated by CR, CIG and the SC hype train. Have been considering seeking a refund myself.....

Asp I have taken the liberty to post this on SA. Should get some fun answers. :D

Has anyone visited starcitzen.com (note the missing 'i') it redirects to the signup page on rsi with a pre-filled referral code... how scammy is that.

As much as one would expect when some of the bigger whales and “fan sites” are actually run by online marketers and SEO:s who will happily register and spit out a couple of fake news and review sites to keep the hype up. They're well-versed in the value of a good misspelling.

OK - I've distanced myself from SC for a month or so, but I came back here and checked out a few links, just to fill a couple of spare lulzbuckets I had lying around...

Is all this stuff for real? Or has Nurse increased my meds recently?

My (admittedly very limited) understanding of the SC "verse" is that it has a relatively small number of jump points/routes, especially with so few system bodies available so far. I can't help envisage hundreds of players, quite literally, staked out along a few of the more popular jumps. It hardly fosters a feeling that the galaxy is huge. Or am I missing something?

I reckon that this thread below will be also deleted soon

Naah - he's merely trying to help Gupta find his lost glasses :D

I've got some free time today, so I'm going to actually attempt to patch SC, have a look at some of the changes, measure a bit of performance, and keep a spare lulzbucket handy just in case :D

So far - an 11Gb base load (SC had refused to recognize it's own installation - again!!!) about 2Gb of something unclear, and now another 26Gb on it's way.

So many fidels must be crammed in there, I can't wait!

26Gb just for 3.01? What happened to the delta patcher?
