The Star Citizen Thread v8

But rather telling that Star Citizen fails to provide enough entertainment these days so people have to make up drama themselves in order to keep themselves busy (not talking about DS, that was funny, this is sad)

SC 3.1 is released for ALL BACKERS on PTU......I honestly can't be bothered and I think I will wait for LIVE release in a few days but if any of you guys/girls are impatient then pls."jump"in PTU and let us know what is new in Croberts universe........

Well, it seems the patch allready made it to live, as I'm currently downloading it. The Download for 3.1 on live is around 12 Gig, so it will take a while before I can test it.

Well 3.1 is out. More because they had to hit that deadline than anything else, because it certainly doesn't run any better looking at the Twitch streamers.
Everyone out of the 6 or 7 I checked out had the FPS counter in the red. 15-25 fps seemed the norm.

I would not be surprised if the guy actually believed the troll and then backpedalled with a full on "I knew it all along" defense :D

Dr Smart has a sense of humour, so he recognized it as finely crafted satire. What with all the best satire being so close to the truth it's plausible. He also realized it would be most effective at trolling people if he tweeted it as though he thought it was true.

Sleuts just dancing in exactly the way the organ grinder wants him to.

Quite. So let's stick to the topic of the game, and if there is nothing to discuss about the game feel free not to post.

I wonder what fidelitous delights are in that 12Gb update. Procedurally generated delta patching perhaps?

I'll have a look myself - if they have managed to tame the launcher.

I see many people asking who would spend $6,000 on a video game. Keep in mind we've seen people TIP streamers $10,000+. They're not even buying anything, they're just giving someone money because they enjoy the show. The amount of disposable income in my state, Western Australia, due to a mining boom that started over a decade ago, is ridiculous. People in their 20's, with little to no tertiary education, are getting $150,000+ salaries. This has been going on where i live since I was a young teenager (Im in my 40's now,) whereby people would go 'work the mines' for a year or two just to buy a house - mortgage free. The latest mining boom kicked off in about 2003. This isn't relevant to SC as such, but understand in my state alone there are literally thousands of [young] people who could, AND DO, throw $6,000 at *useless toy* and don't give it a second thought. https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Cashed up bogan

Indeed.....I just start downloading....this additional 12gb will almost make my SSD totally full of CIG-fidelity-delights...

I don't know how this is possible - but the flight is even worse.

You just wobble around everywhere following the mouse cursor - and HOTAS input seems to somehow be digital.

Maybe I can tweak this, and I was considering it before I flew right through someone elses ship.

Poor show CIG, poor show.

I sort of hope that CIG gets its act together. A plausible rival might get FDevs to up their game.

Personally I suspect either there has be a 'secret project' already in development elsewhere, or ED will go the way of EvE; basically being the genre, while being too big for any other company to even attempt to go up against them.

Well....I tried once and in the beginning was like more FPS then before(around 30+) but very soon I start to experience every few sec horrendous dips down to 10 or even lower,I menage to get into the ship and tried to fly on a planet then game snapped.....now I need to WAIT 30 min of penalty for CIG incompetence.........

Nope.

AAA video games are worth $60 (ish), paying 100 times that price for an unreleased one isn't something anyone with the financial sense to have the cash would ever do, plonking $6000 down on FDEV shares would have been a clever move.

I can believe trust fund types would do it, but they are just not that common.

There's a huge difference between being able to afford a Ferrari and being willing to pay Ferrari prices for a picture of a ford fiesta.

Have a look at your game log in C:\Program Files\Roberts Space Industries\StarCitizen and also in C:\Program Files\Roberts Space Industries\StarCitizen\LIVE\logbackups

Bask in the glory of the game being unable to initialize it's own assets.

Correlate that with PerfMon and look at all the files being loaded, reloaded, and loaded again :D

Try disabling "Targeting Flight E.S.P." in the game options to remove that "jitternes" from the flight controls. This seems to be some kind of aim assist that trys to keep your ship on target when you have you croshair centered on anything (I guess it's supposed to only do this on stuff you have targeted but for me it did it on every object my crosshair moved over). I don't know if they added this with 3.1 or if they just set it to be enabled by default in 3.1 but for me this really made it harder to shoot stuff as this assist was constantly fighting my mouse movements.

'Nope' to which part of what I said? What I said is accurate. Are you talking about what you would do if you were in the situation I explained? I don't understand the link between what I said, and your Ferrari metaphor.

Indeed, never wrong eh lol and a nonsense jab - poor show. We know he's not particularly trustworthy, nobody said what you claim they said as usual.

To be honest I was taking it at face value initially but due to multiple corrections all around have no problem to adjust my perception afterwards. :)

I agree with what you said but will keep my own thoughts about such people because despite disposable income or not being bothered with a total loss themselves this is far from smart or responsible spending behavior. Turn it as you want, Stigbob paints it correctly...spending that much money is simply insane.
