I'm looking forward to both SC and Limit Theory. Really can't see the point of being so tribal about things.

In particularly looking forward to Limit Theory, have heard good things about it.

:D the prefect mind set of a gamer!!! not a fanboy to the extreme. That can't enjoy anything else but one space game.

I am looking forward tot all 3. I don't understand the hostility shown by fans. There is no stealing their are only best practises. People can dislike stuff about 1 and really enjoy others. When all is said and done both will have things to like and to dislike.

Do you have a link for that wingman hanger episode?

I, personally, don't recall a WMH that "ripped" ED a new one. However, the only comments made about ED were given the same enthusiasm of X Rebirth during the December livestream - which I would have considered dismissive. Also the Wingmans Hangover is not recorded, where a second "dismissive" comment was made.

The only mention of the "tutorial" that I know of was this (6:39):
http://youtu.be/gmevVmaLizw?t=6m39s

Anyone that has actually played the game would tell you that his comment about the "tutorial" (which is just a screen telling you what your controls are and what to do with them) misrepresents the "intrusiveness".

I can't seem to find the other reference though (where Chris smirked at an ED question and said that SC is going for fidelity...it was definitely before February), and the "hangover" isn't recorded where WM said the same thing. It was suspicious to me until "Wingman" started "punishing" people for talking about ED during the WMH.

Errrr...what FD have done mostly has been at engine/algorithms/concept side. You can't greate graphical assets without some cash, and they needed KS to launch this puppy.

However remember there's 60 people (end of last year in fact, probably much more now) or more working on this game. We have seen very little.

Also space stations for example will be mostly created procedurallyhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Procedurally_generated. They will be modular by nature. Is it copy/paste...I wouldn't say that.

I hope you're right. In some of the earlier video's I recall seeing different color schemes on some of the ships that looked like it would serve to be more varied as well.

I have backed SC with a 300i and a Constellation, and in Alpha for Elite. So I also backed both games and I want both to be a success.

I can see how some will have a preference for one over the other, but as both games are not done, things will change. Elite has more to show currently and a lot to go obviously. SC has shown more of their DFM and also has a lot to go.

Good luck to both,

Calebe

I'm referring to the 'letter from the chairman' that was (and still is) up on the main site.

There are many of those on the RSI site ...

How about you quit telling us what anyone at CIG has said, especially when it portrays them in a negative context, and give us the links to these comments.

Yes, indeed. It's bad practice to not link to a source when saying such things. In academia it's a standing rule that when you say/write something controversal, be ready to back it up with sources, while common known things are (usually) not necessary to back up with sources. This is a forum and not a university, but the same principle is valid - for obvious reasons.

P.S is anyone in this thread looking forward to SC? because the ones that were seemed too have left....

I'm looking forward to SC very much. And also to more of ED. I love both games. :)

I've invested far more in SC than E:D-Alpha, but not out of principal, mainly weak against sales of sexy limited ships. I'm looking forward to E:D more, it's both a sorta-Elite4 and the Infinity we never got. However, my friends are more interested in SC, and we want to run multi-crew ships together. Everything in the future looks awesome (especially the Tali).

Undoubtedly they will. Up until now there has been little to show in the SC camp. That has changed now. But there will be a game of leap frog now of course. ED will have Alpha coming out shortly and with big increase feature wise. Being able to travel around at will over a 200 light year area of space along with everything we have right now but hopefully more polished.

It will be interesting to see what the SC answer to this will be beyond DFM.

Get ABBA and One Direction in there and I'm with you! :D

You're mostly a rocker ?

Actually I like all music from heavy metal, to rap, to old school, to jazz, to classical, to new wave and beyond. I only require they have talent. There is such a world to explore. I hear new things everyday. I find things I've never seen before. I meet new friends. :D

I'm looking forward to it as both a backer and a subscriber, but I honestly am starting to have a few concerns about the direction it's going. Just going to have to wait for the DFM to be released and hope it allays some of my fears.

Mind you I also think that, judging from the stability issues during the presentation the other night, we might well be playing the Elite: Dangerous beta before the DFM actually reaches backers...

Oh, and I'm looking forward to Limit Theory (which I also backed) too, as it's looking quite nice. But I'm looking forward to No Man' Sky even more to be honest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRpDn5qPp3s

They are. ;)

*NOTE* A note of interest. A little known fact for some. ABBA was one of the most financially successful bands ever. They are in fact quite wealthy. They sold over 400 million albums. :p

Another thing people also miss is that their music was actually rather complex in terms of melody, chord progression and musical arrangements. Something that can't really be said about most pop music...not that I listen to them that much, but as someone who have studied (and teach) musical composition I can certainly appreciate their work. :)

What am I doing!?!?

Discussing ABBA in a forum centered around a space sim!!!:eek:

Must be the wine talking!!!
:D:D:D

another interesting fact about ABBA is they were the first band to make use of the pop video as because of family commitments they were not always available to promote their songs on shows like top of the pops.

/me goes to lay down in a darkened room until the shame passes
