Ive been watching AC videos for the best part of this evening. The graphics look really nice, but nothing that I have seen or read thus far of the (pre)alpha gameplay has compelled me to play the game. If anything, it has confirmed to me that the production value is driving development at this time. For example, i'd rather have wireframe graphics and the core mechanics apparent, than incredible graphics and placeholder gameplay (which appears to be the case right now, at least imho).
When I first started following ED during alpha, I ordered my Hotas and bought into the premium beta THAT DAY, as the vision and style of gameplay hooked me from the get-go.
Yes, AC/SC is pre-alpha BUT first impressions DO count and early releases and game demos serve as a good indication of what to expect going forwards. This is kind of the curse of hyperbole stemming from community backing - CIG needs to keep its 'stakeholders' happy by throwing bones, when the development time could be better spent right now on evolving and honing the project before the big reveal.
I still have high hopes for SC, but it has still failed to hook me at this time.
