The state of VR

First of all:
CPU: 3700x
SSD: WD Black 2GB NVME
RAM: 32GB (4x8) 3600mhz DDR4 G.SKILL Trident Z Neo
Mobo: ASUS Prime x470 Pro
GPU: EVGA Hybrid RTX 2070 Super
HMD: HP Reverb G2

- I heard that the performance took a big hit, but I had no idea how big of a hit till now. I had to run at 50% scale and even that wasn't giving me great performance. Before odyssey, 75% was great performance. So the quality of pretty much everything took a massive hit.

- I think I can get used to the new menus and UI. It isn't my favorite, mainly because of the redundant selections and spacing all the information way out. On the maps I dont like this random dot that's in the middle of the screen all the time. Is it a cursor I can't move? I don't really know.

- The Shipyard is a goddamn mess. Nobody ever tested this in VR, at all, period. There is no way someone even possibly looked at it. I refuse to believe it. There is a lingering ghost image of the cockpit ever present, the ship models appear either below us, so close to us we're staring at a wall, or all around us, where we're inside the actual ship. Terrible. Even less information is presented about the ships now; This was always a problem in elite where in order to see what size hardpoints and compartments the ship has, you have to look online. But now it's worse. It doesn't say anything at all. Not the speed, not the armor, the jump range- Nothing. The weird thing is that there's a MASSIVE amount of unused space to display this information. Why isnt it there?

- The main HUD in the cockpit has some new issues. Certain elements have no stereoscopic effect, and it hurts the eyes. Like the station models and the ship model inside the shields. But the
worst is the parking camera. This is weirdly flat now and it makes landing especially difficult.

- The hyperspace tunnel is incredible. This is lightyears better than what we had before and it's so satisfying to see it in VR. Wow. A+++!

- Once again you guys hit all my crew with the ugly stick. I had really nice crew who I had to hire and fire hundreds of others to find, and now they look different. I'm not pleased.

- Entering the squadron management tab makes the rest of the environment pure white.

Anyway, I hope that the performance can be fixed at some point, and that the shipyard is completely reworked, and those little graphics glitches can be tweaked.

Please have a look at my thread regarding VR bugs - if you could add to the existing bug reports it’d be much appreciated 👍

Biggest issue (beyond performance) i have had so far is trying to get back in my ship after visiting a station on foot. The game glitched out. Even the retro spinning ship bobble heads on the dashboard were glitching out in the cockpit. Had to force quit the game to get it playable again.

Alt tabbing when in borderless mode on the monitor while in vr was causing issues.

Trying to watch youtube on a second monitor while in vr was also causing issues.

I did not have menu issues, but that may come down to control scheme differences w.r.t navigating menus etc.

Some of the NPC's head shots were really dark in VR.

So long as i stayed in one environment it was reasonably stable in vr.
