the data core is the whole point. They are the things leading to a mystery?

We don't know which parts which will lead us there, but at least the data-core messages carry some pretty clear hints.
And as we've seen, some commanders have seen different wrecks than others, so perhaps some of the wrecks are RNG, while others have a specific set of assets like the Omega-1 Aquarii site.

I'll try it one time in the morning and one time in the afternoon until it works :D

I want to see that damn wreck! And god protect fdev if it's a T9!

It's actually just the Ivar's Clam, it's been there ever since the alien teenagers dropped it off so te police wouldn't catch them carrying illicit cargo.

If anyone gets the reference, I'll be amazed.

I posted this on the Canonn ubermegathreadnaught seven, and thought I'd best post it here as well...

This may be old news, but there seems to be more to the tip offs then just go to the crash site...

I got my first tip off today. A well known one: Avan A2.

I went to see it for myself. As I sat looking at the ship I wondered "what brought it down?" There was nothing in the log to suggest what had happened. So I started to do a spiral search pattern around the wreck to see if it had brought something else down with it. Sure enough I soon found an additional signal on my wave scanner. As I approached I noted a boundary and two Guardians and a Skimmer.

This is what they were guarding.

Just a Diamondback with assorted loot, plus a one million value data package.

This was a -37.0144 / 127.3957

This could have been random, or it could be directly related to the first ship. If it is, and it is permanent as well, then I suggest people revisit known crash sites and start searching around them for additional ships and wreaks. We might be missing a trick here.

(or this could be old news).

good idea, but you may test it yourself:
1. Log out and log back in.
If the wreck is still there, then it's persistent (I'm avoiding the term POI here, it causes confusion) - others should be able to visit it. And you shouldn't be able to re-scan the data-core since you already have it.
If not there, it's RNG-POI.

Talking with ilo about the tip off's, he told me that ranking up with a major faction (empire and federation) may produce that the tip off missions appear.

I promoted to Lord and Baron in Shu Babassi, 100% of reputation with all the imperial minor factions and I received the two tip off missions, makes sense.

Maybe there is a correlation in all this.

I received mine as part of 'ranking up progression' as well, with the Federation. However, it may not have been the 'passing 100%' that triggers it.
Unfortunately I didn't pay attention to the percent, I just noticed they had arrived at some stage. Because of all the mission update-spam, I had to stop reading the inbox for a while.

Hi there! This is my first comment on the english side of the forum.

I'm very excited with this tip off missions, I have two and I get them when I was doing expansion data delivery missions for the Empire in Shu Babassi.

My ranks are competent, merchant and surveyor and the missions required the broker trade rank.

However, today I searched the wreckages at the exact coordinates and I didn't found anything.

The first tip off is the one at Izanami that is already know, but the second is in this system "Piscium Sector CS-J a9-2", the planet is Piscium Sector CS-J a9-2 4a, and the coordinates are "Lat - 68.65 and long 64.33".

Maybe I'm doing something wrong or maybe the tip off's aren't avaliable at this time, because I get them a couple weeks ago. But

I hope that somebody can find some clues in Piscium Sector ;)

PD: I'm sorry if I don't write english properly, but I'll keep improving my spelling.

Hi, good work.
The wrecks will disappear after a while it seems.
This is why it's so important to visit them in time, perhaps within 1-2-3 weeks.

I can confirm that there was an Unidentified Artifact at the crash site on Omega-1 Aquarii 3 when I visited it on the 15th of July. It was about ~100m down the crater wall from below the wreck and was clearly audible from the wreck site.

Cheers, indeed. Be careful if you keep it though. It may attract quite a bit attention from both pirates, police as well as Commanders.
We still haven't been able to positively identify the wreck-type yet, although there is a strong suspicion that it's a Type-9 wreck.

I left the UA at the location, the terrain is very rough for some distance and I'd have probably suffered a huge amount of damage before finding a landable site (suitable enough for the autopilot that is), probably why it's positioned in such a place.

I took a few screenshots of the wreckage, it's pretty badly destroyed and the dark crater didn't help either, so I couldn't identify it...

Although I agree it could be a T-9 as this section does resemble the panels & angles of the hull shape.

I still have some unposted video capture of the site & UA from my SRV but it shows very little more than these pictures do.
