The trading / mining / carrier loop is so much fun, please don't kill it frontier.

Just wanted to say how much fun the current setup we have for carriers is. Specifically:

  • Sandbox trading being competitive
  • Mining both high value commodities and tritium which can be traded or used as fuel
  • Limited and moving goldrush locations to stack the community
  • Carriers adding a new dynamic of bulk storage and arbitrage.

The mix of all the above is making an amazing game right now, please don't water down or turn off any one of those, it would be tragic, its so much fun with all those elements.

Thanks.
Like WR3ND I don't really know what you're talking about lol, but it's great to hear people are enjoying carriers.

Doomed.

Still happens now, 4k selling stations are low in qty for large pads so often the price only lasts 2-3 days max due to 140 FC arriving within a day of it's discovery and buying it out of stock, then at the right "tick" , the buy price jumps 10 x. Supply and demand old chum.

I hear (and it seems) the supply is artificially infinite, even if there is a fixed number. How it works is one your order has taken a ship full, it automagically is full again as if nothing happened. Currently it will change because of the bgs state change, not supply and demand. See the related complaint thread from last week.

Apparently that's how buy prices for diamonds works, so there is precedent of frontier doing this on purpose.

I ment "supply and demand" with the BGS mech really. In that the 50k-52k selling stations seem "constant", but the 4k buying stations are "rare" , for large pad ships. I'm sure if no one was buying at the 4k stations it would take longer for the price to jump 10 x though, because is it not the case once out of BGS drought the price remains low until the then supply is "exhausted", then it jumps on the tick, or am I imagining that?

Yes i think you might be.

4k is the buy price, selling at 50+ if you just want to do sandbox trading.

You need inara for it, or via the galaxy map search for refinery economy stations where the controlling faction is in drought (or one of the other disasters possibly).

Its worth keeping an eye out how this works over time, but theres a chance its non zero always. They're not common certainly.

As it is currently, they're constant and common enough to only expect to buy at 4k unless you're roleplaying or dont care + convenience.

... its even part of the game. Right now beufoy orbital is 1.6k ls away. Even if you were extreme only min maxing, it might be more efficient to pay say 10k from a station 5ls to a star thats closer to sell than need to buy at the absolute lowest. All part of the game what you want to do :)

Will I had a feeling people would enjoy using them even when I can't afford one myself, well I might be able to, but I won't know until I get back to civilization. Been exploring and enjoying using the FSS for a year and a half.

Well are you coming back? Sounds like pico is having a great time out of the bubble with his new carrier. Makes sense actually, as well as what you do now there's also mining added to the mix.
