This can't be an echo chamber

Echo chamber is created when an individual refute an opinion without any consideration of what credential it entails. A.D.Grape disagrees with me often, so I don't see what echo chamber is there.

Many many people want more PvP just not the flavour doled out by the current mess, but rather than join in with all the other players in a way that means we can stop this PvPvsPvE argument instead everyone else is generally told they're wrong, they're not fit to have an opinion and probably a scaredy that'll run to solo and combat log.

Slippery slope, just because people make conclusions based on questionable premise doesn't deem them to necessary have to "run off into solo and combat log."

It's not productive.

It's not productive when conclusions are being drawn on misinformed or haphazard premises.

I voted for PvP! I rather enjoy the PVP in this game...the outmaneuvering of other groups by out playing them in the PvE collection game is quite enjoyable!

not a lawyer

seriously you're just a voice on the internet. like everyone else. listen to these other people - it's how everyone gets along. if people could manage that we'd never need this poll

I dream of the day when "pve" and "pvp" seamlessly blends together and we no longer talk about pve, pvp, builds, dps, nerfs, buffs, balance, etc. ED game world is big enough for everyone, and all should be able to play / do their favorite things...

Yes please. I'm totally for this. We need reasons for player interaction for reasons other than battle. Once we have this, we will be a big step closer...

Here's the first reason - this is the internet people make them up.

Except that we are discussing Elite Dangerous PvP, which people can show evidence via video and other easy to find evidence.

Here's the second - it's used as a weak form of destabilising the argument as one side arbitrarily decides on the 'level' of competence to belittle the other regardless of the quality of thought or not. That's a poor arguing technique.

If it becomes the focus of the argument, then it's problematic, but I am trying to distinguish CQC and main game PvP. This idea of "credibility of premise" is omnipresent in society, in fact, societies are largely built upon this conception.

Here's the third - why not deal with the argument rather than the poster?

It does deal with the argument in the sense that it's not the competency of the poster's rationality being questioned, but the empirical premises used to draw the conclusion.

Except that egalitarian attitude will only create stagnation, not advancement. Just as I have the humility of not inserting myself into conversation regarding scientific discussion of planetary generation this game implements, because I simply have little to no study on those fields.

Cheap trick much like constantly referencing texts, authors and philosophers that an average forum reader won't know - Almost instantly elevating yourself into the intelligensia....

Only the really smart people don't need to make sly references and fake knowing winks, they understand the material so can simply explain it to the layman.

I've watched loads of the PvP Elite videos and skill is not what I've seen most of the time. It's not great evidence. We're all just players, of equal right and merit

...and we're back.

Please avoid posting about each other, and please stay on topic. The topic is that shown in the first post and concerns a poll about what playstyles people prefer.

I like both but I wish both to be seamless (ie. no distinction that tags a target an npc or player until AFTER they've engaged each other, whether by communications or combat, so that the game universe itself feels seamless).

TBH I like them both lmao.

I like both, too. I still like one - PvE in my case - a little more, though. Not suggesting to remove or nerf either of them, mind you, and I want to continue enjoying both.

It's really not that difficult.

Indeed we do - however there are particular limitations on such behaviour - such as incarceration - and if one were to be "destroyed", that'd be it - no respawns.

Indeed, thus is the limit imposed by society, the idea that one will only allot as much liberty to others as they allow themselves to have. Due to the fear and self-preservation, an agreement is made and upheld.

A natural direction to take considering human conditions, but the mechanic produced in the end is artificial.

No wonder why people don't get along.

Hence I prefer to see that "potential," since I get bored looking at the same facade people carry around day in and out in real life.

I can't think why that is the case other than me being anachronistic.

The fact that people don't respawn is what makes it special and what gives it splendor.
