The Vive is bundling (inferior) games too.
This is a deal maker for me - I hate having to put on the headset, put on headphones, take off headphones, take off headset - so much better to be able to simply put on and take off headset - my cans are going to be sidelined for the more than adequate Oculus headphones. HTC should have made attachable headphones an option IMHO.
Same with the Vive - I'll never need two sensors as I am not interested in the walking around stuff. How dare HTC assume I need them both!
See above.
And again.
And I much prefer the Oculus feature set over the Vive, including the fact it is lighter and, reportedly, more comfortable.
Just providing balance, you came across a bit preachy there mate!![]()
Haha, well played, well played
I'm not going to argue, since to each their own
The "see-through" feature with the camera I like as well... That way I can pay attention to the wifey when she's talking to me without taking off the headset... We all know how the ladies can get when they talk to you and you are oblivious!
And true, the Vive does come with games. Some.... uninteresting ones at that. But let's put it this way, the Oculus will have an additional camera down the line for enhanced tracking or whatnot (more cost). The Oculus Touch is expected to be in the ~$200 price, so those two things alone, when you combine them with the $600 Oculus pricetag, puts you at about the same price as the Vive.
In comparison, the Vive already brings all the tracking it will need or have (no extra cost), and already brings the controllers as well.
Simply a more complete package, IMO. As for the comfort well... opinions are mixed on this. The Oculus is said to be more comfortable, but I'm certain the Vive won't be as uncomfortable as a certain set of headphones I used long ago. I've been baptized in the waters of headgear that weighs a ton and digs into your skull (lol).
As for taking off and on the heaphones, this is another one of those "to each their own". I run a very high end audio setup on my PC, and you know how the statement goes "If your headphones or audio system is cheaper than the devices you use to run them, you're wasting your money".
I won't be caught dead using some crappy audio devices when I went to great lengths to make sure my audio experience is as unparalleled as my graphical one.
Not to mention... My heaphones are light as hell. It's one of those you forget you even have on your head. XD
To balance things more, the Vive could offer the touch controllers as an optional item. That would allow more people to jump on the VR bandwagon. There's a hell of a difference between $600 to $800 bucks.
At the end of the day, let's put it this way. I don't care which people get, the Oculus or the Vive. The more people that adopt VR the better. I really, really want this market to flourish and not die, like the 3D monitors/glasses did. I'm one of those guys that a few years back was hoping that I'd live long enough to experience VR, and well, here we are. Never did I expect I'd get to experience it at my age!
So... just buy one. Either one is fine, and let's show these companies developing VR that we want these products to exist
Now... VR Game of Thrones. Anybody else interested?
