The Way Home from Beagle Point?

Hi Guys, so, a couple of noob questions here.

1.) Once we get to Beagle Point is there an in game achievement?

2.) How do we get back to the bubble? Is it as straight forward as turning round and flying all the way back?

Thanks

1) No achievement that I know of. The PC version doesn't have achievements snyway.

2) There's no planned journey for the trip back to civilized lands, people are free to return as fast as they want to.

I believe there will be a continued expedition following the route that Voyager took from Startrek Voyager. From the Delta Quadrant to the Alpha Quandrant. It's non-compulsory.

As it is, it is 16 weeks away.

Greetings,

Maybe the OP knows the following or not but it might also help others reading the thread. It's what I do.

There are three ways to get back to the bubble.

1. Fly back.
2. Never land anywhere then destroy your ship. You will respawn at the last station you were at in the bubble.
3. Mess up destroying the ship and a player will get back a lot sooner than intended.

Item 2 only works works so far out as eventually a player will need to go SRV prospecting for materials needed for synthesis (see the inventory menu) to keep the ship happy. Some players having no desire for exploration fulfill Professor Palin's 5000 LY travel requirement out then destroy the ship so that they don't have to fly back. It must be those combat players. Thus access to the spiffy grade 5 thrusters.

If a player is considering extreme distances spend some time on Google researching how to supercharge the FSD with Newtron stars. Here's a start with the Neutron Highway.

FSD Injection synthesis can also increase a jump by 100% using materials obtained by SRV prospecting along the way. Many stock up on the rare Polonium before leaving the bubble.

A Class 5 Guardian FSD booster adds 10 LY jump and is well worth the effort to obtain. Even the lower classes will make a big difference. It is also one of the easiest Guardian goodies to obtain.

All the above are very useful and often a lifesaver for an extreme explorer even if they are not interested max jump range. Sometimes the galaxy can be harsh. It's good to have solutions. Put a ship together, do a "local" run working out the bugs before travelling 65,000 LY from the bubble. A player may even decide on another ship. Too late to get it right even at Colonia 22k LY out...Well they do have three Engineers that increase their abilities with player support.

Finally here is an Asp Explorer I've taking out for a spin. It is A-rated, fully engineered especially with thrusters on high gravity planets and no it doesn't need beam lasers. But with lightweight engineering only dropping the jump range 0.10% they make me feel good!

Find what makes you feel good.

Regards

People at Frontier have commented previously that there has been a suggestion on the back burner for some time for a "walking the dog" achievement, in the same vein as the other ones like "Popping to the corner shop" but it never got implemented partially due to there not being a means of awarding it retroactively to players who have visited Beagle Point prior to the achievement going ingame (An issue somewhat lessened nowadays by the codex tracking data on where you've been like this, since it should be possible to award it to anyone who has visited BP since the 3.3 update) and partially due to having only a limited number of allowed achievements per update on Microsoft's platform, and priority being given to achievements for interacting with the new game mechanics introduced with each patch. It's not something that's been ruled out as far as we know, and it may be a future one sometime. But it's not currently a thing.

As long as we don't run into the Kazon, it's all good. :)

I mean, I'd probably be a bit more concerned about the Borg, tbh...

Planetary landings have no bearing on where you respawn on death, it's the last place you *docked*, not the last place you touched down.

AFAIK, returning to the Bubble from Beagle Point is almost instantaneous, if you're prepared to do the following:

1. Self-destruct your ship, and take the standard rebuy option. You will respawn at the last station you docked at (or possibly the last one with a shipyard, not sure about that). This is likely to be the new station to be built near Sag A*.

2. Buy a Sidewinder (if there is a shipyard), and then self-destruct in that. This time, choose to respawn in a Sidewinder at your original starting system (in the Bubble).

3. Pay for ship transfer to get your ship back (this will be expensive).

If there isn't a shipyard after stage 1, either fly to the nearest shipyard before stage 2 (probably Colonia or thereabouts), or self-destruct your ship and take the Sidewinder respawn (sacrificing your ship).

I expect DW"'s return from Beagle Point will be a bit like Napoleon's retreat from Moscow, with people succumbing to space madness and "falling by the wayside" one by one...

to 1) There are badges on EDSM.net like the 65.000 ly club.
to 2) This statement is just false. There is a return trip being planned.
