The Xbox 1 server and server issues discussion thread.

Yes must agree with that. If there's hacking going on let them stay on their own server. Half the reason I stopped gaming on PC back in my unreal tournament days!
For some reason I naively thought that wasn't going on.

Not sure if I have completely missed the point or what but why are the servers for PC and box being combined if we are never going to be able to shoot at/ fly with /wing up with the PC commanders?
I know it's big out there. But we will have a server full of PC first discovered places. Also they have an established power play layout.
I get it if we could fly around/wing/fight with them. But if all we are getting is background interaction what's the point? Less rares to make money from?
Are the servers so sparsely populated it has to be that way? Or is it a case of less work for frontier maintaining one simulation?
Or something completely different?

Am I the only one who doesn't fancy the sloppy seconds? Where's our Virgin galaxy?

The entire premise of the game was to have one universe from the beginning. What we had before was a test universe nothing more.

I think it's best if all the hackers and modders stay on PC or frontier finds a way to fix it.

Anyone who gets caught hacking / modding (Anything besides UI colours) gets shadow banned from the server. As in sure they can still play the game. But they get placed in their own server and the only people they meet are other hackers / modders.

Makes sense. Thanks for info.
Still would be fun one day to have cross platform smash between PC mac xbox and ps4.
That would be pretty awesome.

I think your enthusiasm over this would be VERY short lived. Once you realized that your PC and Mac opponents were using HOTAS joysticks along with a dedicated throttle controller, multiple displays, rudder pedals and a host of other expanded control devices. Meanwhile, you have your XB1 controller with its limited ship control capabilities. ;)

Nahh... Even if it was easy for FD to merge the XBL gaming network with the PC and Mac multi-player networks, I seriously doubt that the majority of XB1 players would be enjoying themselves at all. More than likely, within a week of Cross-Play, the XB1 community would be petitioning FD to give them back their own Galaxy, free of the PC and Mac players with all their major ship control advantages.

I personally think FD has made the right choice in allowing all versions to share the same Galaxy of events and states, but keeping the console based version separate in terms of face to face encounters.

It would have been a nice courtesy if they would have taken the 2 minutes required to post an announcement about this last night! I know for a fact that I would have at least finished the 1.8 million Kill the Pirates mission I was almost finished with instead of quitting with the intention of finishing that up first thing today! :(

Another thing I am noticing since this migration is that the high dollar BB missions are noticeably absent from the mission lists at every station I have been through so far today! Have not seen a single large Pirate hunting mission on offer, where before they were relatively common.

Anyone else noticing the lack of the new big buck missions?

Actually I was noticing the dearth of PK missions BEFORE the migration last night...Ritila is normally PACKED with PK missions for Teorge, yesterday, despite doing the rounds three (or more) times, the best I could come up with was a single one for 4 Pirates. I'm used to getting 5-6 or so (5-6 PK contracts for Teorge not Pirates per contract).

Hmmmm....Thanks Ras. So its not just me then. Something is definitely up with the BB mission distribution on this new server. I'm going to monitor this throughout my session tonight and if this continues to stay as sparse as I have seen for the last couple of hours, I'm definitely going to post a bug report to at least alert FD that something might be messed up with the mission server.

I have managed to get a few of the original size Pirate Hunting missions, but not a single million plus version of any target class. Definitely a difference since the migration.

Actually I was saying "Yes, I noticed a difference, but that difference and me noticing it pre-dates the migration." I have not "done the rounds" at Ritila since the migration.

Currently paused at the edge of human habitation, to gather myself before that one big step into the starry black...back in a week, hopefully?

Could not connect to matchmaking server. Error Please help!!!

I bought the pre-release of this game about four days ago and I have yet to play it. The reason for this delay isn't because of lack of time or something like that, but from a failure to connect. I was wondering if anyone else is encountering the same problem. I have looked all over the internet and have yet to find another person with the same issue.

When I go to play the game I click on full game then open play and I can cruise for about 2-5 minutes before an error message pops up saying
"Connection Error
could not connect to matchmaking server. Press ok to return to main menu."

is there anything I can do to combat this error and maybe play for more than a few minutes?

Any help would be appreciated.

I would first reset your router if you haven't tried that already. Wait a full 30 seconds or so with it powered off. That may help but no guarantee.

Have you tried connecting to solo play or does it do it for both?

I get this error on average about every 15 minutes at quite literally any time. In the midst of a pitched battle, picking up canisters, viewing stars in the galaxy map, perusing the bulletin board, you name it. Most often it hangs up upon entering or leaving frame shift, both hyper and supercruise. It starting doing this non-stop about 3-4 days ago.

After clicking OK it takes me back to the game's main menu and usually it will have to try to find a non-"unconnected" server a couple time before it finds one, then I can get back in within 10 seconds or so.

Huge pain since it always resets your context to the last saved position.

Continuous disconnects

Is anyone else experiencing rampant server disconnects during all manner of game-play?

The past 3-4 days I'd gotten used to getting the server disconnect message when entering/exiting frame shift (about a quarter the time) but starting today it's now disconnecting right in the midst of every type of gameplay. I can be in SC traversing a star system and wham, disconnected. I can't think of one area of the game it hasn't disconnected from today.

In the past two hours I have not been able to drop into one random normal space event (signal sources and the like that randomly spawn). It has a 100% disco rate and of course when you log back in the random event is gone.

From 9:20pm to 11:25pm ET I disconnected a total of 38 times in three different star systems doing all manner of things. With the exception of 3 occasions I was able to immediately log back in. The other 3 times it had to retry connecting to our new server, EDServer #13, a few times before allowing me to log back in.

Between approximately 7pm and 9:15pm ET I played multiplayer Forza 6 with nary a hiccup so we can definitively rule out local network issue.

I'm not issuing a bug report on this because, frankly, if they aren't logging these disconnects on the server then someone should be out of a job. There is certainly nothing special about my activities considering it will disconnect at any time.

Disconnects are very rare for me with this build. Maybe a couple a week if that.
File a ticket with as much info as you can provide. ISP, router make, broadband type, location, wireless or wired, etc. I know on WoT there's a Comcast router which causes all sorts of problems. Comcast replace it for free

NOOOOOoooooooo!!!!

Got home from a 15 hour Night shift only to be met by " can't connect to server. Your client is to old. Please upgrade to the latest version of elite dangerous." Where did i go wrong and how... I know i am tired and all after 15 hour work, but now i am tired and totally sad face:,(

sometimes a console reset will clear that stuff up (at least for a while, or long enough to make the game playable)

Hold down the power button until it shuts off, then unplug it for 30 sec or so...plug it back in and restart, and it might be cleared up for bit

Can't connect to edServer: Your client is to old. Please upgrade to the latest version of Elite Dangerous

I had same issue, " Can't connect to edServer: Your client is to old. Please upgrade to the latest version of Elite Dangerous" I can find no reference to new client on the Xboxone web site or in the game section on the Xboxone, how do you upgrade the client, uninstall and reinstall Elite Dangerous.
