Exactly. I registered an account after it happened. Never used the forums prior. I would've assumed that the game wouldn't be playable until the update finished.

Just read over on troll.com that anyone logging in with the new update has now over written their original save game and will be placed in a second hand sidewinder for 8 weeks.
Ship details 1 carefully owner.
Defective hard point mechanism.
Only 896301846846380865 ly on the clock.

Oh just posted elsewhere as I too am on an old save, thank god I am not the only one so likely this will be resolved - bet they have accidentally left a server on as it should not really connect at the moment I guess.

Yup, servers are supposed to be down from 8AM UK time for 6 hours, but I suspect they've forgotten to shutdown one backup server that has data from several days/weeks ago and it is merrily allowing people to log on and freak out.... :D

All player owned ships in Elite are second hand, there were originally plans to make them all run slightly differently stats wise to reflect this but it seems to have been dropped since the planning stages.

Do NOT start the game until the promised server merge is over (3 PM BST), because then you risk losing all your progress, at least that's what I think based on my experience on past server-based games. Just download the update but do NOT log in to the game until we get the green light to do so.

Yes I did and have lost LOTS :(
Hopefully will be ok when alls finished.
I did jump the gun but I guess I shouldn't have been able to log in really ?!?

Yes I think people shouldn't be able to log in at all. They will overwrite their progress with a blank save. Or at least there's a chance for that. I hope the devs will sort it out. I won't start the game until tonight that's for sure.

That's quite cool. Knowing my luck I would get a dog that wouldn't start though. Lol.

Is the XB1 Server up?

Hi all, i did the 5Gb+ update, when is the game going live? Mine still says unable to connect to game servers when I try to launch.
