Yes same! It's something I honestly haven't really tried before, going small. I oversize everything in my zoos, mainly because I can't bear to put even a fictional animal in a small boring enclosure. This competition is really challenging me to develop 1. a better sense of scale, and 2. the ability to finish what I start. I often have grand ideas, get excited at the start, and get distracted halfway through and move on to something else. It's a really good exercise in discipline and it's rewarding to feel myself growing from the experience! Mustn't speak too soon, still got to complete and submit it before I can claim to have learned these lessons :) Looking forward to our tiny round, looks like the theme is going to be movie scene which is perfect for it! Let's see who can be tinier Lady Possum!

When I started out, I built the smallest needed for the task ..
Now .. nearly 5 years on When I build a habitat I look at the largest area needed for a max collection of animals and aim for that ( or if higher than 99 adults 99 babies - big enough to hold that much. ) If it's way too high for me, I go down to 50/50 and then 25/25. It allows me to not worry about space requirements if I don't deal with population growth quick enough.

In case anyone missed it, we are still waiting for a few submissions for Round 3.

We'll give everyone an extra day and aim to release the submissions on Tuesday, with scoring running until the end of the week. Results announced hopefully on Friday or at the weekend, depending on how speedy everyone is!

In the meantime it looks very likely that the theme for Round 4 will be Movie Scene - so start brainstorming your ideas if you are keen to get ahead of the game! Round 4 will be formally announced when the R3 submissions are sent

Oooooh NICE!!! Beautifully presented 🏆 would you mind if I incuded this as an example in the presentation guide? Toilets and Bats made me LOL! Bravo, great entry! Hope you're pleased :)

Oooh are we gonna get a sandbox from you this time? 👀 excited to see what you do! Theme not 100% confirmed yet as people can still change their minds but I do love the idea of a movie scenes theme. Everyone will take this in a different direction so it will be really fun to see the variety...as long as we don't ALL do the Circle of Life / Pride Rock / Aaaaaah-savenyaaahhh moment! 🦁

Thank you! Go for it! :) And yeah I didn't like the in game toilet signs so just kind of tacked in on there lol.

If I had more time I would have added more details to the backstage areas and outside gardens but I am just done with this build. The roof killed me XD

Never a sandbox .. just a different location spot, so thought I would just create a zoo in that area as a second Zoolympics Zoo
Yeah, I'll hold off zoo set ups until it's confirmed. And nope, I didn't think of that one .. so if we do have that one, that's one less 🤣

That's all good, everyone is free to pick whatever sandbox settings they want if they build in sandbox, it's not a consideration in judging. I considered adding this as a topic to discuss/vote on but it seemed like a constraint on creativity and too hard to manage across a wider group. I started off aiming for more realistic settings in my first build but I am now running on almost 100% easy-mode sandbox settings :) Extra credit will be going into my scores to you though for animal welfare knowing this!

PS if you want any tips on making videos I'm happy to help :) there are some excellent free tools available now

The way we interpret the theme is where the challenge comes into play. How each of us look at it may make us think of something different. For example: My idea is a location the movie I was thinking of was filmed at. Which thankfully has a bunch of wild animals in 🤣
But as Villanelle said earlier, the theme of the next challenge isn't set in stone quite yet, but the movie one is looking to be the one at the moment.
