The Zoolympic Games

Yeah, I will have to skip this time because my mind is too scattered and I struggle with focusing on a complex project like this.
I use this game to relax and while sometimes I can plan something bigger, usually I prefer to think about one habitat at a time, without a big theme for a whole area.
Good luck everyone! I'll be glad to join the judging :)
Totally understandable. Maybe single habitat/building challenges are best to keep things at the fun element.

I think going forwards I'll aim for one challenge per month with 3 weeks of building and 1 week to score, wrap up and set up for the next round.

The next round will be the December round then - holiday theme anybody? :) "Winter Festival" - all interpretations welcome ?
3 weeks of building sounds good. I think more people can potentially join then. For me this come in handy, too, as I usually just play once or twice a week and rarely more often :) Much more doable for me.
As for the December round maybe a build with snow (in any form) and for an animal from cold regions?

Also, I have another question regarding the current challenge: do the enclosures or the complex have to be surrounded by water?

I was planning on an area of water around the islands eventually, but starting out with space around the islands to fit water in near the end. But .. if your computer can't handle the water, you could just create a ditch around them and pretend there is water in it. But, best to wait for the official word :)

Not sure what you mean by enclosures or complex. It's an islands theme so there needs to be some water, yes. The whole map doesn't have to be an island though.

HAHAHA, now no one can stop me from winning, unless if Kiong or another really good builder are joining this (I have the memory of a toothpick and can't remember any 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place winners and I am to lazy to look, I mean xrystal is really good but I nearly know anyone who is joining)
Looks good for you, i bit much more then i can chew this time
Not only was my idear very ambitious, but a close friend of mine moved out so i spend most of my free time this week to help him move into his new home.
Add that i wont be home this weekend and the fact that i got atleast 5 more hours to have atleast a partly finished build, so my submission will most likly be a ~40% finished build with no more then one isle, so yeah, looks like you will be the winner this time

To be fair my idea was also way to ambitious, I made it way to big to properly detail, but I will try and hopefully I can get in the top 3, hopefully you are able to join the next competition.

I am also on attempt no 3 rofl. And rethought how I was going to distribute the South East Asia islands into my world zoo. Decided to split it up Malaysia and Indonesia into 2 zoos based on their island placements. And Papua New Guinea will be added to my Australia/New Zealand zoo when I do it.

Totally up to you guys!

Who's currently playing this round? Can we get a rollcall so I know who to cater for?

Another option - is this round working or is it a bust and would you like to move on to a december winter themed round?

Plot twist, I think I may be able to finish something if we have the time until the end of November. I started building a Madagascar house, on an island, in one of my zoos and it's going okay. My ability to focus increased somewhat too, so yay (can be tricky with my ADHD but so far it's fine).
I know it's just one island but I see the theme is a bit more open now. We have enough animals from this island to make 3 different habitats :) So if it's OK (?) I would be happy to send my entry to this round too, after all.

I've put some animals and plants props from Captain's Callum blueprints collection in there but I will move them aside for the screenshots.

But why on Earth don't we have any chameleons in PZ? 😭

With another week i could atleast finish my gibbon islands and hopefully either half of the building or atleast get it far closer to completion.
I would atleast have something mostly finished to show and while its still questionable to how well it would allign with the prompt it would atleast be something

I don't think it's a bust as such. In my case I am only having issues due to building in a franchise zoo and thus having limited funds. It's a choice made and I stick with it. That said, my previous attempt looks to be 1 maybe 2 islands with 2 habitat and 1 exhibit animal ( multiple exhibits ) and could put that one up as is. Whether it's replacement will get completed any time soon is hard to say.

I am. Currently Working On A Nocturnal House That Houses Kakapo, North Island Brown Kiwi And, Great Spotted Kiwi. I Do Have An Island Complex That Houses Every Single Penguin Found In New Zealand In It Along With Yellowfin Tuna, Risso's Dolphin and, Southern Elephant Seal.

Okay, cool. We're still on then. I'm hesitant to extend the deadline further because then we eat into time for a December/holiday game, which I would like to run as I think it would be fun and seasonally appropriate :)

Let's stick to Dec 1st and if you haven't finished, just submit what you have and explain what you'd add with more time.

Any formal complaints can be sent to my Wild Ass habitat :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: j/k love you guys!! 💚

@Annie_konik you raise a very good point about chameleons!! What about kurbing the no-blueprints rule to allow for blueprint models of animals that we don't have in the game? That seems fair as mods are allowed. The no-blueprints thing was more to avoid having whole buildings plonked down from the workshop.

Seems fair. I mean mods are allowed to

I support anyone using my blueprints (if that means much for these competition zoos), the goal of my blueprints is to enhance an existing zoo/building without taking away the creative skill of the player. Props like my reptiles, birds and foliage do allow some creative additions to themed zoos without the hassle of mods.
