They actually did it. (Huge if true)

The people reporting that “this doesn’t affect me” are not part of anything.

Just folks, puttering along ignoring everything except their credit balance and their new paint job.

“What more could there possibly be?”

EGP are a Russian multi game player group.

At the time they won The Dangerous Games, David Braben said they fielded “something like fifty thousand Commanders”.

Being a language based group in a country with hard borders, Grom have been fairly tight and hard to know what they’re up to.

PowerPlay is like the FIFA of Elite Dangerous. The “What even is this?” crew just don’t follow football.

But this is like Manchester United quitting.

My point is this:
Frontier do want to have some sense of “community”.

That needs to be supported by Frontier acknowledging when players affect the galaxy in real ways.

When a player group says “We will do this”
And it happens and it can be seen in game.
That is newsworthy.

My point is that Frontier employ specific people to make the news.

And it’s not happening.

Archon? Check out my avatar. The King is alive and well in his blood war with Grom. LYR is bobbing up and down from 5C but is still there too.

Is your SQ planning to take control of systems lost by Grom?

I'm surprised such a large group of players called it quits with no one willing to take over the reins. So, no other PMF or SQ can fill in EGP/EGUs' shoes?

Assuming you are QBit or know him, you won't kick my anarchy PMF out of the controlled systems, right?

I am not QBit, but pop on over to the Discord if there is any lurking problem. We actually have to win first, and generally as long as there is enough exploited systems in that bubble to flip it to low triggers nothing need be done.

I hope they seriously overhaul powerplay. I had considered setting up a remote desktop system so I could ping to load my hold while I was away from my rig... but I just decided to not do powerplay at all. I do not regret my decision.... I hope New Era is a serious overhaul of a lot of those things as well as a few new features.

I'm not sure, maybe Rubbernuke knows more, but I think that PP is fairly low in the FDev priorities and I don't think it will be easy to fix it and right now, they are busy with the September update, then they'll have the December update, the 2020 update, whatever follows (atmospheric or space legs), etc. Once they have kind of fulfilled their Kickstarter promises, maybe they will find the time and desire to do something with the PP... Or drop it altogether.

I hope New Era is a major overhaul, streamlining, and integration of Elite. I really hope it is a new era. I know they aren't going to touch PP this year, but I really hope New Era lives up to it's name.

Surely the one player created Power quitting is rather big.

You'd think that the reason why would be even bigger news.

But I guess people care more about memory hack cheats than bots. And even more about personal fleet carriers, today.

They could always replace Grom with Victoria Wolf and bring in a second Alliance power. You green guys certainly warrant one. 😉

Powerplay never makes the news (or the patch notes, thank you FDEV). The operation "Shattered Prism" that hit Aisling was ignored, as was "Operation Valentine" that saw Winters cut down to size earlier this year. Nobody said anything when the Zemina leaders quit, or when "New Torval" rose up and tried to make an open-only powerplay community.

Those who say power play doesn't affect the galaxy aren't paying attention. When Hudson expands to a sphere, half of those systems get flipped to Feudals or Patronages. When Winters takes a sphere, half of those get flipped corporate. When Aisling takes a sphere, half get flipped to confed, coop, or communist. These things don't magically happen, they're worked on by hundreds of pilots and they frequently come into conflict with other, smaller player factions.

duuuude, just relax!

you know, everything is a lie. if you get so worked up about every triviality you'll die sooner than you should.

What's a grom crew?

I think he was in a band before going the dictator route
