They have botched this update so bad that i wonder if it will end the game

Maybe you missed it but npc crew in your slf are still not talking to you, no messages in the coms panel either, you just hear a click and then nothing.

That's odd. Not experiencing that one. I've been using my NPC crewed SLF heavily over the last few days and he was chatting away the whole time.

Games working just fine and dandy for me.
Good for you - but at the same time many console players can’t play the game at all because of the patch (known issue), and they have tried everything to solve it. I’ll say that’s pretty severe.

What frustrates me most with this update is that we were promised QoL (quality of life) updates this year

Well my quality of life has certainly improved because I haven't touched the game since the update and won't until the forums indicate that this dumpster fire starts to settle down.

Also ObNote: Realistically, the only way to reliably regression test a software of this complexity is a public beta. It would be insanity to imagine otherwise.

As a rule of thumb I give any new patch (on any game) about a week before I jump in as there are always problems. If I choose to skip that then I expect some bugs. With egosoft or bethesda I usually give it about two years, so it could be worse.

Its a video game you can easily live without it for a bit.

This update was released on Wednesday. Less than a week ago :D

Have a look at this thread in the news section: September Update - Known Issues

If you give me $80 AUD to hold on to while we wait for the bugs to fix maybe I could invest it in another game that is of merchantable quality. You get your money back when the bugs are all fixed... lol
The problem is not only game play. The problem is getting what you paid for.
ED marketing didn't include down time for poor Quality Control on updates... if you know what I mean...

Back in the virtual real world...
hey I am enjoying working out what bits function and what doesn't...that in it self can be quite an adventure...

So you launch bug finder missions and get credits for all your discoveries... Now there is an idea!! :)

Looks at weeks played and winces, I'm more than OK on the getting what I paid for front I think. ED marketing did include quite a lot of stuff about if it proves to be technically feasible.

I've always thought the word invest really doesn't fit video games.

Which is why I used the phrase "rule of thumb" and am not gobsmacked or furious about some minor bugs. Realistic expectations and all that.

I don't think you are really being very objective Stigbob. Mistakes happen, but you should be more forgiving of Frontier, give them the benefit of the doubt and actually playtest the game rather than assuming it will be broken. It's what I do at least. See for yourself rather than assuming.

I'm in the game now at less than a week post patch, guess what that indicates ?.

That is true, but do you understand why some people might get a bit upset/irritated when you use the expression “...fine and dandy..” when they can’t play the game at all?

My personal experience following the update has been pretty normal and stable. No major issues or hiccups.

My own position in all this is that even though the update is nowhere near as bad as this thread title suggests it would also have benefited from a beta period of a week or two, not only to iron out things but also to better manage the community expectations.
