This game is far too buggy!

I got the game on Friday, but have played about 2 and a half hours of it because I was waiting for a fix for the textures bug. That came today and I played through the first zoo in career and went on to the second zoo in Madagascar. One of the Bonobo's escaped through a broken fence, so I had to select the fence and delete it. I selected it and deleted it, but the "please select and delete the fence" tool tip wouldn't go away to trigger the next part. So now I can't complete the tutorial. This is on top of the problems I ran into in the first tutorial when placing and replacing walls, like when I had to put one-way glass on a Snow Leopard enclosure but the game just wouldn't let me do it... It's really frustrating.

I'm actually really regretting buying this, and I've now gone over the 2 hour limit on Steam for a refund...

I know games development is difficult, but why do FDev keep releasing games in such a state? It's getting to the point where I'm going to have to start thinking very seriously about whether or not I can be bothered going through the pain and frustrating of buying a new game on release, or wait a few months to see if it's actually become playable. And I'm sure I'm not alone in this.

I'm not angry, just severely disappointed.

:(

The whole game is very buggy but the campaign is FAR buggier than anything else and im not even sure if it was even tested at all... for the time being you could try making a sandbox zoo as even franchise is incredibly buggy right now.

I haven't encountered any game breaking bugs in any game mode. Some minor annoyances that could be fixed with some Quality of Life updates (mostly interface related). Sorry you're having issues. Since you can't get a refund - and if you're still interested in playing - I suggest looking at some tutorial videos. There is a learning curve. Perhaps through a video you'll get an "ah ha! moment".

I pre-ordered, knowing full well from experience that it would be fairly buggy at release.
I haven’t even played it yet, again knowing full well Frontier will right the ship in a few months, and I’ll have an enjoyable game experience then.

I’m patient like that.

I pre-ordered the game, this being my first frontier game (besides Jurassic world evolution) and having no idea what it would be like

tbh I regret being excited and invested to the degree I was, it sure made the disappointment that much worse

I have been playing only career mode so far and I haven’t really encountered any major bug. I had a persistent problem with an habitat that refused to get cleaned, but I solved it, and it wasn’t really necessary to advance the scenario. I’m just really stubborn.

Doesn't that mission ask you to repair the barrier? I don’t recall if there was a button for that, but at least it should ask you to put another one immediately? Sorry, I don’t remember the scenario very well. Have you tried going to the main menu and opening the save again? It’s silly, but it usually works is something gets stuck.

I just don't understand how FDev keep dropping the ball when it comes to bugs. Now, don't get me wrong, I know how difficult games development is. I'm a developer myself (just a small developer of 2d arcade style games) and it's so far taken me nearly 12 months to get a simple 2d Defender clone to a bug-free state, so I can imagine that making something as complex as Planet Zoo or Elite Dangerous is a massive undertaking. But these bugs and errors seem to happen a bit too frequently IMO. Nearly every update breaks something else. Take the September update for Elite Dangerous, which broke the game so badly in places that they had to fix the fixes.

I'm not trying to pick on or upset FDev by bringing this up, but I do think that in future I'll be buying their new stuff, including the next paid add-on for Elite Dangerous, at least six months after initial release, probably more.

I didn't really get on too well with Planet Coaster, mainly due to the lack of a tutorial in the career mode, but I really enjoyed Jurassic Park Evolution and Planet Zoo appealed to me a lot more... So I'm just a bit peeved that it's turned out to be as clunky as it is. Doubly so since I've gone past the point of no return on a refund, when most of that time was spent messing around with PC and game settings to see if I could find a fix to the janky textures...

I haven't had any game breaking bugs. There are bugs, sure. But I think most games I've played have bugs. I try to report any bugs I come across and a lot of them seem to get fixed. Of course new ones pop up but the game is playable for me and I am enjoying it. At least in between the mass popups of animals fighting, growing up and too many peafowl.

I restarted the 2nd zoo and the wall bug didn't appear. I did however have a problem with the ring tailed lemur enclosure, first I couldn't select the enclosure, then I couldn't place their climbing frame properly, so it ended up floating a few feet above the ground. Then I moved onto releasing an orangutan into the wild, I selected it, clicked the corresponding icon and... The game completely locked up!

This really isn't getting any better the more I play it.

Idk where you are from but the whole 2 hr thing doesn't fly here in Australia. Request a refund due to the game not working correctly. Link the recent court case with Bethesda.

As far as I know under 2 hours just gets accepted automatically by the system, no questions asked.

Beyond 2 hours a request can still be requested but is checked by an employee.

A co-worker of mine did refund it due to not working properly after about 4 hours or so.
