This game urgently needs a CUSTOM GAME

Thanks for your feedback!
I finally posted a separate thread for this:
Which they closed as a duplicate of this thread...lol. So they are watching, whoever they are.

The designers of this game got some weird ideas or complexes.. They want us to play their whole mods and even so we can't play the game we want as described here.

I can understand them to put those mods for sake of having content in the game, it's totally fine.. BUT why do you force us to play the game as you want?? Why do you not let us to have a custom game in a custom map?

This game got already many problems about management, dino AI, mobile game style micro control.. You may fix them in time.. but first of all, I want to play as I want!!!

It's a shame there isnt at least the option of activate researchs and expeditions on Sandbox mode...

Had to play campaigns to unlock stuff, is fine to me. But once unlocked, why i have to play with then already researched and with full genome?

No.. I want to unlock then, and after having the option of starting a sandbox without the progress done.

I couldn't agree more on what has been said so far. I was a huge fan of the first game and was really excited for JWE 2. I bought it shortly after the release, and while I absolutely enjoy the game in its entirety and also regard it as a huge improvement to its precedessor, I was disappointed to see that you can't do research and expeditions in sandbox mode. You have to research buildings, technology etc. and get dinosaur genomes in all the other modes in order to use them in the the sandbox mode. What's the point of this? I think that researching more and more stuff and completing more and more genomes is what makes the game really funny and addictive, and it's a shame that the sandbox mode can't be played this way.

What you have for the sandbox mode is depending on what you already unlocked in the other modes. But I also don't want to have things at my disposal in sandbox mode that I have unlocked in other modes. I wish for a sandbox mode where I can do research and expeditions to unlock things and dinosaurs and can thus develop my park and its possibilities in this very mode. I remember the feeling this gave me in JPOG, maybe THE game of my childhood, when you got access to more and more technology, buildings and dinosaurs in the very game session you were playing. And as it had been said here already, this is actually basic for a park building game. Heck, even old classics like Zoo Tycoon made it possible for you to get access to new things in the free mode, and it was a lot of fun. Not having this possibility is, for instance, like not having a skirmish mode in a real time strategy game. It's simply an essential.

So I just wanted to add my two cents on this important issue and contribute to keeping this thread alive and visible. Frontier, we are asking and I hope you are listening.

The reality is that this game is actually missing the "Standard" Game mode for all park builders. It has numerous different modes with twists and restrictions and challenges and "freedom" but it actually just misses the very standard experience of a park builder, which is to start on one map with nothing and proceed to gradually grow, develop and unlock until you have everything and a 5 star park.

That is how stupid this is. That is what a ridiculous oversight this is. It is missing the STANDARD game mode expected of ALL park builders.

And it has happened twice.

Dwell on that for a while. Shameful.

That's exactly why friends of mine haven't bought the game yet, and I think many others haven't either, and that's why the sales figures aren't so good, because it still seems too immature for a 2nd part. I can't understand why Frontier doesn't improve the game quickly, because that's what the majority of all players want, a real sandbox mode with the options to unlock all features and a real gameplay mode with money and all possibilities without restrictions, for example that we can not have carnivores...

Since there has also been a discussion going on about this in another thread, where it seemed to me it isn't clear to some people why so many want a sandbox mode with everything unlocked right from the start OR, which would be my preference, the possibility to unlock things within the sandbox mode: I think we have to imagine this like for example a new installment of the Call of Duty series. Call of Duty, in most cases, offers a single player campaign, a zombie mode and the multiplayer mode. It's the multiplayer mode most players are coming for. The other ones are there if you like them, but you can also play only multiplayer and completely ignoring the other modes. Why? Because those modes are not connected together. People love to progress solely in the multiplayer mode, unlock new weapons, skins, gadgets etc. and all this happens by playing on and on in the multiplayer.

Now, imagine you could not unlock new weapons and such in multiplayer mode, imagine it would be required, if you want to have other things than the starting equipment that is, to play through the campaign in order to unlock new weapons for the multiplayer. Wouldn't that be silly and completely senseless? I'm sure players would be up in arms (no pun intended... but also not avoided, hehe). But well, that is, if you extrapolate this core principle and transfer it to JWE2, actually the exact way the game is working.

My thread was closed as a duplicate, but it was essentially this list for sandbox additions.
I propose the idea to add more settings.
A. The settings from JWE 1, such as Disable Population Limit
B. Option to disable the need to use rangers to survey the status of dinosaur moods in Sandbox
C. Unlimited Modifications in gene modding (option anyway) in sandbox, and the ability to give negative traits
D. Possibly other Quality Of Life changes, can't think of any right now.

Thanks for reading!

Completely agree with the original post.

I'm not a fan of the "challenges" in this game and would much prefer just to pick a map, have no (or very little genome), no research , and some starting money and just build a park the way i want, progressing through the tech tree and getting the new dinos i want to get.
No "no carnivores" or other restrictions.

Unsure if it should be options for the sandbox or something new, either way, it would be amazing.

Very true! And I feel that now after yesterday's free and very good update, we need this more than ever. I completed the Chaos Theory mode yesterday to 100% and I'm actually a bit frustrated since I feel like I'm running out of material to play actually. I could go back to my developed savegames of those missions in order to complete all research and dinosaur genomes for the Sandbox mode there, but then again, I'm just not really interested in a sandbox game where I can "only" build and build and build without doing research and exhibitions.

I'll take on the challenge mode now, even if I can't really be bothered to go through it, but at least it's good for unlocking the remaining maps for Sandbox. Hoping that it will be possible in the not too distant future to play in Sandbox mode with the possibility to do research and exhibitions from scratch.

I haven't played since I posted, and while I do think the new update adds some good QOL and features, I probably will not play until a freeplay or custom game mode is available. I definitely will not be buying any DLC until then. Again, I really think it's a shame this mode wasn't included. I enjoy almost everything about the game, but have no real drive to replay a challenge map.

Same here… I played the first game for so many hours!!!
But I uninstalled this one last week and have absolutely no motivation to play it again for now. It could be an excellent game. What a pity!
Buying DLC seems pointless for me.
Two friends of mine (fanatical park builder players) didn’t bought it cause I show them the sandbox mode.
I’ll wait, but…
