The map things aren't even that big an issue they are decent size. Plus you can find tons of mods currently for the maps to help with size. The custom game options for research and expeditions and etc though.....nothing.
The maps are definitely a big issue. Even on the biggest (probably Germany) you can only have around half the available species. Less if you use lagoons and aviaries which take up loads of space. Mods aren't a solution because A they aren't available for console and B even if they were updates for the game can break them. The map things aren't even that big an issue they are decent size. Same here. The feeling that Frontier ripped me off… after Planet Coaster, Planet Zoo and JWE1, it’s a real disappointment.I'm really saddened by this and will likely not buy another Frontier game. I just don't understand how they bumbled this release so badly.
I'm glad there aren't non-dino attractions. Nowhere in the movies were there ever roller coasters and stuff planned for Jurassic Park or World. After the many requests from the fanbase related to things they needed to add it is honestly shocking how little was at launch as people asked way back in JWE1: kayaks, non dino attraction (roller coaster, spinners, balloon tours, etc), more maps (and while we got a bigger diversity of places basically none of JWE1 maps came back with the exception of Nublar 2015 and Nublar 1993 which are different from what we got).
Don' get me wrong I love the game, but even in Operation Genesis there was a map generator:
