Someone has to help, so the Federation sent their best midshipman (i.e. Me) along with a few others from our Fleet to help establish order in the region.

Where is the empire fleet while all this broke out? I don't see any capital ships there.
Shocking really, that they only get involved when their own profit is involved.

Oh and just to add... if this was in Federation space, none of this would of happened.
We have established order, and people are happy. We deal with crimes, amongst other things in a fair and legal system.

They will only accept them if they are not 'stolen' though. If you've rescued those slaves from a wanted criminal slave dealer...too bad for them, I guess they'll be sold on a backwater black market anyway, or suffer the sad fate of being jettisoned in space somewhere.

Have a look at Empire territory. It's *completely* red, they take everything.

This just isn't true. There are independent stations on major Imperial worlds, and many system near the capital that are still independent. The main 'red' region is south which are worlds explored and colonised by the Empire. The Federation was formed after a lot of colonisation which is why there are more independents within their sphere of influence.

Also:

The new Federation law withdrawing the vote from those earning less than fifty percent of the median wage has been introduced throughout the Federation's area of responsibility. This has not gone without some slight resistance.

I believe in accent Rome if one slave revolted in a household then all the other slaves were put to the sword. Don't see anything wrong with that, it encourages good and respective behaviour. Something I expect from all of my slaves.

there is just the basic lesson no government has learned.

Do not interfere with people's business.
Real freedom and equality is the absence of a governing body and laws.
People who live free should be smart enough to come along with each other,
if they don't, means are settled in seconds, via the airlock.

These "Empire" fanatics only care about on thing... profiting off poor, young people, who have no choice other than to serve as slaves.
The Federation has a strong policy against this sort of... horrendous crime. We all need to ensure that a message is sent to them, that this will not be tolerated.

Everyone deserves a chance at freedom. If they decide to go down the route of a criminal, let the Federation respond in a legal and meaningful way.

Just to make it clear to all : as sait before, Imperial slaves are slave by choice. They have enslaved themself to clear their dept.

If they want to stay free, they are free to move to a Federal or independant system.

Imperial slavery is not the same as old earth slavery. An imperial slave is well treated, but not a federal slave (or an employe, name it as you wish)

You can see Imperial slavery as a long-term contract, where the employer have to feed, house and protect his employe. In return, the employe swear to do the work that he is asked to do.
