Three More Animal Only Packs - What Do You Want?

Wait, is the Canadian Beaver a 3rd species or is it the same as the American Beaver? I thought there were only 2, and I've seen them in the wild in Northeast Texas
No, it's the same species. But the North American species has a lot of subspecies, one of them is called Canadian.

The arctic wolf was the worst inclusion for me personally, arctic fox would have been 1000 times better for me personally, and for anyone actually, we already have a wolf.

Dingo wouldn't have been bad at all in a 8-animal pack, in a 5 animal pack however, it was a waste (kinda)

1) Desert
  • Meerkat
  • Fennec fox
  • Dromedary
  • Przewalski horse
  • Hamadryas baboon
  • Addax
  • Hairy armadillo
  • Leopard gecko (E)

2) Forest
  • Iberian or Eurasian lynx
  • Moose
  • Wolverine
  • American or European beaver
  • Red deer
  • Artic fox
  • Raccoon
  • Fire salamander (E)

3) Around the world
  • Tasmanian devil (Australia)
  • Capybara (South America)
  • California sea lion (North America)
  • White rhinoceros (Africa)
  • Amur leopard (Asia)
  • Alpine ibex (Europe)
  • Puma (North and South America)
  • King cobra (E) (Asia)
Oh goddess, YES please, a approach not based on regions! I don't even want to invest time anymore into my ideas, after reading it, I just want these packs. Maybe I would change some animals in the first one, but that's because I'm a mod user and there are two perfect mods for them. It rarely happens that mods are "enough" for me though, just in this two cases. ;)

I can't decide betwween your Forest and your Around the world pack what is my favourite, but I would pay 10 € for the sea lion alone, so....

My three ideas for animal-only packs:

Africa - self-explanatory: animals found in Africa
1. Bat eared fox (Least Concern)
2. Cape crested porcupine (Least Concern)
3. Fossa (Vulnerable)
4. Grey crowned crane (Endangered)
5. Red river hog (Least Concern)
6. Southern white rhinoceros (Near Threatened)
7. Wolf's mona monkey (Near Threatened)
Exhibit. Panther chameleon (Least Concern)

Back From The Brink - A pack about animals that either are or have been subject to successful zoo-based conservation programmes
1. Alpine ibex (Least Concern)
2. Coquerel's sifaka (Critically Endangered)
3. Eastern black rhinoceros (Critically Endangered)
4. Hawaiian goose (Vulnerable)
5. Owston's civet (Endangered)
6. Persian leopard (Endangered)
7. Vietnamese sika deer (Extinct in the Wild)
Exhibit. Mountain chicken (Critically Endangered)

Ground Birds - This pack contains birds that fit within the current bird designs (primarily ground-based species)
1. Black swan (Least Concern)
2. Dalmatian pelican (Near Threatened)
3. Ocellated turkey (Near Threatened)
4. Northern helmeted curassow (Endangered)
5. Secretary bird (Endangered)
6. Southern ground hornbill (Vulnerable)
7. Victoria crowned pigeon (Near Threatened)
Exhibit. Eastern indigo snake (Least Concern) *

* Might seem a bit of an odd choice, but I can't think of any bird that fits with the current exhibit type and it has been suspected that the reintroduction of these snakes to their former range in the USA could help small songbirds as indigo snakes feed on the other snakes that raid bird nests.

any rhino, anything from any desert biome and red deer, because europe needs at least something and red deer has the most cultural significance.

Very interesting ideas everyone. As I thought the "Endangered Species" pack continues to be popular. It's probably too late for Frontier to shift their focus to that if they don't have something like it on the cards already, but maybe they'll see the need for it next year.

I hope when we have enough big animals in the game that they release a bird-cage pack and a whole lot of just small enclosures, like 20 or so into on packet.

I'd probably do an African animal pack, an Endangered animal pack, and a Desert animal pack. Not at home in exhibit animals, so I'll leave those blank.

African animal pack: White rhino, meerkat, African leopard, crested porcupine, African crowned crane, bontebok, Kirk's dik-dik + exhibit animal.

Endangered animal pack: Black rhino, przewalski's wild horse, saiga antelope, tamaraw, amur leopard, sifaka, golden mantled tree kangaroo + exhibit animal.

Desert animal pack: Addax, scimitar horned oryx, fennec fox, striped hyena, dromedary camel, hamadryas baboon, caracal + exhibit animal.

WILD WASTELANDS PACK
White rhinoceros
Somali wild ass
Addax
Puma
Peccary
Indian crested Porcupine
Indian stripped hyena

CARNIVORE CREATURES PACK
Meerkat
Fennec fox

Serval
Indian Honey badger
Maned wolf
Spectacled bear
Wolverine

JUNGLE BUNDLE
African leopard (preferably the large Congo type)
Red River hog
Lar Gibbon
Axis deer (or Vietnamese spotted sika deer)
Capybara
Coati
Spider monkey

key species

BONUS 2nd ANNIVERSARY ANIMAL - Scimitar horned oryx or/and Blackbuck 😂

It’s really not easy to create a pack when 2/3 of the most desired animals are from Africa, but I found a resolution and selected specific subspecies that live in both Africa and Asia.

Unfortunately some animals were left out but I hope they could find a place in regular DLC: all European, most of N.A. and Australian.

African Animal Pack
White rhinoceros
Meerkat
African leopard (would've preferred Amur but that ship has sailed)
Hamadryas baboon
Grey-crowned crane
Red river hog
Crested porcupine

This pack feels absolutely stacked with heavy hitters and essential animals. The red river hog and crowned crane are very striking animals, while the rhino, meerkat, leopard, and baboon are all absolutely essential for the complete zoo package. I almost included the greater kudu over the porcupine, but ultimately I opted for the more visually distinct animal. I could easily fill out a second and probably even a third African pack without even starting to exhaust the incredible biodiversity the continent offers, though.

Americas Animal Pack
California sea lion
Mountain lion
American alligator
Moose
Tamandua
Capybara
Maned wolf

This one feels like cheating a bit, but I think it's pretty important. I could easily come up with a full pack of 7 for each America, but I also think that these are the priority species. The moose I'm a bit on the fence about... It's a Zoo Tycoon classic and the community seems to want it, but it's not actually all that common of a zoo animal from my experience. I'd much prefer a beaver, raccoon, or even American black bear in that slot, but I think moose is still probably the way to go.

Small Mammals Animal Pack
Fennec fox
Fishing cat
Golden lion tamarin
Brown-throated three-toed sloth
Matschie's tree kangaroo
Giant armadillo
Coatimundi

This pack is absolutely essential even if most of the individual animals themselves are relatively interchangeable. It's already gone through multiple revisions as I've typed this post: I've swapped the armadillo, coati, sloth, and tamandua in and out of the Americas pack, I've toyed with including wombats, Patagonian maras, prairie dogs, rock hyraxes, different lemurs and small cats, fossas... Ultimately, though, the bottom line is that we need far more "lesser" animals than we presently have. They're so crucial in making zoos feel realistic, yet it feels like we have so few of them currently in the game. The only ones that really fit this category are the current lemurs, capuchins, red pandas, pangolins, and the upcoming binturong and clouded leopard. We need more variety. These are so often the animals I end up spending the most time at in zoos too, so I'm absolutely starved for more variety.

There are still so many animals that would be cool to have. My personal preferences/priorities would be pretty much all animals that are in my top 30 wish list anyway:

European Pack
Red Deer
Red Fox
Wild Boar
Alpine Ibex
Iberian Lynx
Chamois
Fallow Deer
(E) Fire Salamander

(Capercaillie would be cool, too. Could see that over chamois or fallow deer.)

Americas Pack
Moose
Roosevelt Elk
American Alligator
Puma
Capybara
Coati
Ocelot
(E) (No real preference as long as its not a spider ;) )

Africa Pack

White Rhino
Meerkat
Leopard
Dromedary
Baboon
Secretary Bird
Fennec
(E) Chameleon

I like the idea of biome based packs, too, as long as we can finally get some decent European representation.

Honestly i dont care which animals comes next :) I just want that Frontier never stop producing DLCs for Planet Zoo. It´s the best zoo simulation <3 and i will pay for many years for DLCs (if they stay as good as they are)

ofc i have some hopes and wishes but i know some of the animals dont fit the gameplay because they are too small and i really dont like the exhibits. Thats why i also dont want aviarys (exhibits are way better then the jurassic world evolution aviarys for the pteranodon xD) for example i really want a giant snake like the green or yellow anaconda outside exhibits

What i would love to see is a DLC pack for extinct animals (no dinosaurs :3) i think of the Thylacinus cynocephalus (tasmanian tiger) and similar animals that are not too long extinct. I think we owe it to that kind of animals we eradicated or have contributed to it. We can keep them alive (kind of) that way
