Hardware & Technical Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS HOTAS official thread

The best thick grease for what you want is probably in your medicine chest right now. It's called vaseline here in the UK, probably the same elsewhere, not sure though.

I hate the lower throttle hat switch.

Hate it.

Actually I hate ALL the hat switches. There's something about their sharp edges and odd placement that just irks me.

Sorry.. needed to vent. Better now :D

Kaltern, read my previous post. I am trx123. I returned the it exactly for the same reason. I am using CH pro throttle and an old Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2. Perfect setup for Elite.

Vaseline is a petroleum-based grease. Do not use it on plastics, or on metal-to-plastic interfaces like you see in the TWCS, unless you're trying to damage your throttle.

It's also not a dampening grease, FWIW.

Ive got a bottle of baby oil, A whip and a horse mask. Will any of them be any good ?

;)

Hi All,

I just picked up the Stick and Throttle pack (no pedals). All good so far plugged in and working but understanding the TARGET software is proving quite a struggle.

I downloaded the only preset file I could find on the TMT site and followed the instructions in the "How to load the Target profile for Elite Dagnerous.pdf". Elite seemed to migrate this to "T.A.R.G.E.T_FCS_HOTAS.2.0.binds". I'm guessing that the 1.8 file doesn't including all the potential mappings which is why it automagically migrates to the new file.

I'm wondering if anyone has created alternate mapping files we can download and run?

Also I'm slightly confused about the architecture of how this all works.

It seems that the target software is taking the Events included in the fcf file and translates them into what is specificed in the .binds file for Elite to then execute in-game. Am I right?

Man that TARGET app is pretty counter-intuitive. Is there a good tutorial on how to really grok all this config? I can't seem to find much on the TM site.

Thanks,

J

Just a quick update on this.

I got it working in the end after pouring over this thread for an hour I discovered someone with the same issue I was having. So I uninstalled the TARGET software and bingo, everything started working.

From looking at the root cause it seems that to get this working with TARGET you need to do some Windows registry tweaks which is frankly ridiculous. Seems the virtual device that TARGET creates and manages conflicts with Windows power management. As far as I can tell I think Thrustmaster need to scrap TARGET and start again, it's terrible.

Yeah, sorry I missed your post CMDR J. TARGET blows chunks. Many of us elected not to use it pretty quickly, if not right off the bat. Enjoy the combo--I love it. And you may want to re-grease that throttle. :D

To anyone who can find it useful: this is my current mapping, works quite well for me and includes settings for both ship and SRV.
It also has some bindings for use with Anubis (pretty good Voice Attack based AI) already implemented, more will be added and I'll always provide the latest and greatest version of it for free for anyone to enjoy.
Button 1 on the throttle (lowest orange button on the side) is reserved for use as TrackIR recentering, so you'll never need to get your hands off (especially useful when in combat).
Cheers and safe flying, Cmdrs!!! ;)

I still cant get Joystickcurves to work, because Headsoft vjoy wont work with this stick for me.
The other vjoy still wont install it just loops the install on a reboot.

And TARGET is poopoo so binned it.

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD FDEV.... ADD CURVES INTO THE GAMES CONTROL SETTINGS FOR ALL AXIS !

Looks a great set of bindings - I want my binding to work with HCS voice packs and ideally Multi Crew as this increases enjoyment but also allows your voice to play a great part in ship control

Last week, I was watching a tear down video of the throttle, and the reviewer mentioned replacing the grease with dampening grease would likely fix the issue I'm describing above. I decided to go with Nyogel 767A, which is a very good dampening grease, but you'll probably have success with any fairly restrictive dampening grease.

I have some 767A on order. Should I use a degreaser or will it be enough to wipe the existing grease off with a paper towel?

Also, do you have the friction adjustment screw as loose as it can be?

Set Voice Attack to control TrackIR. I use commands like, "Track On/Off," and "Center" to turn TrackIR on or off, and to re-center itself. Then you can use that orange button for another ship command, or to press for voice comms like Discord or TS.

I removed the existing grease with a paper towel and q-tip. Not absolutely necessary to remove all of it, but I got as much out as I could from all contact points.

I did not adjust the friction screw at all. Factory default position. HTH!

Wow, have re-greased my throttle with Nyogel 767A and what a difference! It has turned a £85 HOTAS into feeling like a more expensive product. The throttle now takes more effort to push but there is much less sticking. It now feels like a spaceship throttle should LOL. Previously it felt far too light with the screw loosened fully.

Also, to anyone thinking that regular lithium grease will do, let me assure you that this stuff is like night and day. I originally re-greased with lithium grease and whilst there was a slight improvement there was still plenty of "stickiness" especially after a few days of use.

FWIW, I have the adjustment screw loosened fully as I didn't want the potentiometer arm to be a point of friction, plus I kept the lithium grease around the hole in the plastic potentiometer arm where the washer moves (damping grease not appropriate here).

It's not easy to obtain in the UK but I bought some from this guy: http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/bigbillgdr?_trksid=p2047675.l2559 (note that he doesn't always have it listed)

A shout out to dragoniv for the advice (I'd read about it before but it was your post that prompted me to go ahead).

Still cant get any bloody curves working for mine :(
Hope the coming improvements to the core game include a curves setting for all axis "in-game" if star citizen can do it im sure Fdev could ask them how its done if needed :)

I bought one of these setups over the weekend. Based on advice from this thread, I never even downloaded the TARGET software, just ran the drivers and fired up E:D. I've been using the T.Flight for a long time so I had to remap some things to reduce the learning curve. Rep given to Cmdrs that I followed in my setup.

I just ordered some myself. Any tips how best to apply it?
