Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas X Discussion thread.

sorry for thread spoiling but how do you take external ship screenshots?

Whatever key you have bound for the debug camera ("Debug Camera Toggle" - mine is bound to F9), then press F10 to capture the image. You'll need to be in Solo to use Alt+F10 (I think that's the correct combination) for a hi-res capture.

EDIT: I already have one of these Thrustmaster sticks so I'm not entering, but I decided to post a pic anyway. I spent so long capturing how hot the star looked whilst scooping that when I 'got back inside' I found that my ship was cooking. Not too badly damaged, though, so it just cost a bit in repairs.

I'll close this at 8PM GMT tonight and pick a winner then :)

Allow me to enter on behalf of another forumite, pettytyrant, who loves making in game videos and the like. He was going to enter the Film Comp, but the dexterity required with a gamepad or his 'rustic' keyboard n mouse was a little restricting to say the least. He's too shy and bashful to ask himself so I thought I would for him.

A couple of his vids:

I did say he was shy.. :D He plays a lot, but rarely comes to the forums. I've passed on the message, and hopefully he'll get in touch himself Soon™.

Good Afternoon Commanders,

I've decided to upgrade and will shortly (Monday) be in possession of an X52, so I'm offering my T-Flight HOTAS to anyone who needs it for free.

As this is for free I'd like to give it to one of our fellows who is playing with a controller or (shudder) KB+Mouse ideally. I'll even pay shipping :)

Post your best <BASKING> pic or quote and i'll pick someone randomly.. Or a great screenshot... or whatever suprise me. Best wins.

Have some rep, Commander. Gotta love this community!

Using "Shift" buttons on Thrustmaster HOTAS X

There are many posts, You Tube tutorials, and diagrams on schemes for setting the buttons on the TM HOTAS X. Very often the 3 buttons on the throttle (5,6,7) are suggested as 'shift' button - such that if you press say 5 AND move the hat switch you get a new function.

BUT - the advise is often given that if you do this you MAY NOT use that 'shift' button anywhere else.... NOT SO MOOSE BREATH!

As it turns out (at least in my experience) I can go into ED Setup and set any button in it's 'single' state and the button will be shown as [JOY 5] or [JOY 8] or whatever. Then when you want to use a shift button, you hold the button you want to use as the modifier, then, at the same time press the button you want for the action - this will then show up in Setup as [JOY 5]+[JOY 2] - or whatever you press.

So you can keep those throttle buttons (actually 4 - but the one is way in the back) in their native 'single press' mode - AND use them as shifts and triple or quadruple (almost) the button-availability.

This MAY be common knowledge, and if so I apologize for the repetition - but I have seen it oft stated that you can NOT use the shift button by itself - and at least in ED - this ain't so!

Thrustmaster Hotas X keys setting wanted

Saw a pretty good video about the hotas from ADORED TV only his menu is slightly different to my mac menu. I can't seem to get the top hand and the UI working very well. Plus the video missed out quite a lot of options. My throttle is on the left of course, full range, but seems to be really weird sometimes not working other times direction seems reversed.... Any advice much appreciated.

So in summary, we can to combos in the games own controls option. Is this common knowledge? I didn't know. Thanks for pointing this out.

Well, that was a rather nice thing to wake up too!

I just wanted to say a public thank you to Cmdr w00t for making such a generous offer to the community and personally for picking me its winner.

Hopefully it will not only improve my flying skills but also improve my videos, and I will post one of my new flying skills, or more likely one of me hilariously crashing into stations and other ships as I relearn how to fly my Cobra!

But you have made an old Elite Commander even happier than I already was at having a new Elite to play. And I can tell you that was already pretty damned happy. So thank you again.

You are a fine representative of all that is best about this Community. I salute you Commander W00t.

All I need to do now is win a competition for an oculus rift! ;)
