Time for a server reset?

You can, just delete your character or do the less extreme version of storing it all in modules far away and control yourself. Or get a second account.

It's not as fun as you think.

Thanks but not thanks. I might not like exploiting or that those who do can keep that money - but a full reset of the server? Nope. Especially as it would hit those, who don't dabble in goldrushes much more than those who do. Cause there will always be the next goldrush. All a Server reset would achieve is disgruntled players across the board.

Serious question, why? what other game has done so in any similar situation?

Other games solve it by using seasons, where everyone starts new on a new server, but keeps (and can still play) their old stuff.

However, with the background sim running parallel to what we do, not sure if this would be a feasible action.

Other games, when facing “exploits” of this nature would do a server roll back.

Just FYI, using 3rd party code is cheating. Using loopholes to get obviously intended advantages is exploiting. By definition exploits only use what the developer provide.

Not yet. But in two years or so I'd be all for it, once the game is actuallty stable. But we'll have a couple dozen exploits before then so it wouldnt really work to offer a new server now.

If only a selected few knew or could use the tools to gain an advantage over everyone else, then sure, I would agree it was an exploit.
However, anyone could do the same actions without any mumbo jumbo.

If I only do missions that pay 1000 credits but you do missions that pay 10000, are you exploiting the game too?

Let the bubble burn after the core game has finished being updated this year. Have the Thargoids push us to Colonia or beyond. Add the ability to establish ground bases and eventually build a station via solo or squadron. Explorers will have true purpose finding humanity resources and homes to establish or act as long range recon for enemy fleet movements and warn of incoming attack or mobilization. Traders will have true purpose building the foundation of our civilization and getting supplies to colonies that desperately need them. Combat pilots will have true purpose retaking territory, fending off Thargoid attack to our new home and last stand. And protecting us from those who would turn against their own. Both the game itself and community will flourish.

If they wanted to, FD could have removed all the credits gained from said exploits. They choose not to.
So it seems that they don't see the temporary "free credit train" as that big of a deal.
To be honest, I don't either.

If there was a legitimate player-driven economy, then this would be a much bigger impact. As it stands now, all it amounts to is some players get a few free ships or some free rebuys.

It wouldn't take long until the next update introduces new exploits, but that's really the only reason I am against a reset.

OP. People are too precious over their virtual pixels or telling everyone they only play in solo, so screw everyone else. To understand how desperately this broken game needs a reset.

The proposition of a server reset made me laugh out loud.

OP, the one place where I think a reset would have been a necessary evil worth implementing is for legacy mods when 3.0 dropped.

I couldn't give a rats about starting again regarding credits.

The thought of doing both ranks and the engineering grind again makes me want to punch a baby seal.

So on balance, not so much in favour.

Would be ecstatic with a complete rebalance regarding shield values and various other modules.

So since patch 3.0, we pretty much had a weird feeling in the air: easy way to ranks, easy way to credits (I don't believe they are exploits, as no one was running third party code to achieve them, everyone was using what the developer provided).

Now, this is pretty much not your average MMO. Sure there's player interactivity, but I don't think we can classify this as competitive gameplay. However, what resembles an economy and progression is pretty much ruined, where new players will have much more difficulty (assuming the missions will return) than players that took advantage of the missions until they were taken down.

Should we just let the Thargoids burn the current universe and we all start anew?

It is so much easier now to make money than it was before, that it took me about 2-3 weeks to get an alt pretty much to where my main account is.

New players cash up so much quicker than when I started right after Horizons was released. So, I completely disagree with your premise.

Like others have said, there's the CLEAR SAVE button in game. Go ahead and click that button OP, it's not that hard, RIGHT?
