Time of Beta release?

There's a load of speculation at the moment...
I spotted that on the buyers guide, in this forum, it says that the alpha will end on the 25th of April. (I would quote, but I don't know how!) It was written by T.J. who is one of the forum moderators. Not sure how accurate this is.
I would think that the alpha ending would mean the beta starting. If you want some more speculation, have a look at any of the other threads on this topic, like the one names 'Beta'.
Hope this helps!

I think last orders for Alpha is 25th April, so Premium Beta should start at some unspecified time after that.

We have heard nothing since this newsletter about dates. The truth is there is probably no confirmed date because we don't know how long Alpha 4 will take to get into robust enough state to be suitable for a Beta.

PLEASE NOTE: The Alpha Phase will be ending on the 25th of April 2014 and will not be available after that date.

This, yeah, at first I thought that's what it meant but I guess it means to buy the alpha.

Then you have to think, if you buy it then it ends the next day your gonna be feeling ripped off, so I would guess they would get a few weeks worth of play time.

Edit - No, hold on a sec. I think it does mean this is when the Alpha Phase ends.

and that was only made 2 days ago, so I guess its accurate.

I think it means that BUYING the alpha will not be available after April 25th, but alpha TESTING continues. FD has mentioned Alpha 4.0 coming before the beta. So we'll get that one - at least. I don't expect the beta to arrive until late May, at the earliest.

My impression is that the ability to purchase Alpha access will end on 25th April.

If Alpha access for someone buying it on that day is to be reasonable value then I would expect the Alpha to run for no less than another month (i.e. until 25th May) as the KickStarter Alpha access was estimated to be for a month.

Late May at the earliest + a few hours

;)

Given that it's already the 6th April, Alpha 4 is not yet released and it's likely that the transport and trading will need at least as much time to debug as Alpha 3, I would suggest that the 25th would still be well within the Alpha 4 debug window. Alpha 3 is currently 3 weeks and counting, probably four by the time 4 comes out. Easter also makes things tricky, meaning a possible postponement by one week.

So, my guestimate would be:

Alpha 4: 25th April.
Beta 1: About one month later, 23rd May.

Before the summer. And we are not very far from the summer. And welcome in the great family of the Elite

I fear the summer has been and gone already. It appears to be autumn outside now!

Pretty sure something somewhere read the beta would start after the spring, so I would aim for mid may?

Original and coherent reasoning

But where do you live ?

Sweetened by cheaper insurance, Alpha test continues into the Beta
(each new B phase gets stability test in A before wider (B) release.)

Alpha 4 maybe shorter or longer, or the same as Alpha 3, which is about 3 weeks so far?
My guess is Alpha 4 currently (as of the newsletter) scheduled for April 25.

I expect alpha 4 to start a bit earlier than the 25th, in order to account for the inevitable stampede to pledge caused by hyperspace footage :p!

I am not here to moan, just to clarify mathematical commonsense;

£35 for the Game
£35 for Expansions
£100 for the Game, Expansions and access to Beta after Alpha
£200 for the Game, Expansions and access to Alpha and Beta

£100 Premium Beta backer paid £30 to enter Beta access after Alpha

£200 Alpha backer paid £130 to enter Alpha and Beta access.

April 25th end for last Alpha order, even then one month for £100 would not be worth it when other Alpha backer had been in Alpha for well over 6 months?.

I say a bit longer than a month after April 25th before Beta open, say at least June 25th.

Note: I am Premium Beta backer and am not making any fuss. :D

- Edit £35 for Game instead of £50 and recalculated £130 instead of £115 Alpha, £30 from £15 Beta.

I'[d say Alpha 3 has achieved most of what it set out to do. 4 new patches since it's release to squash most of the stability issues surround load times, docking pad crazyness, and whole space station dissapearing tricks.

Short of maybe another patch for other minor bits, I'd say Alpha 4 will be coming in the next few weeks, almost certainly before the Alpha expiration.

Alpha 4 will then continue through rest of April/May, before beta will be readied before June.

I also read somewhere that beta is being worked on in parallel to the alpha's, so I would not expect that long a wait before the beta lands after the final 4.x patch during May.

I think its more supporting the game rather than thinking your getting your moneys worth, but there's plenty of perks also.

Being first.
The starting bonus.
The insurance deal.

The first 2 will be worthless after a few weeks. but people are happy to pay more to be first.

I'm happy to go in at premium beta level and be thankful that the people before me have helped ironed out some bugs and made the game better.

Really? I guess they define a beta release somewhat different from what I'm used to then. What does the beta contain that's not in the alphas combined? If it's the missions removed/moved out, in favor of the general sandbox universe, then the beta contains new code and so should be regarded as an alpha.
